After one of my runs, Hades and Zagreus talked something about ||authority on shades|| after their conversation, a banner popped up (mostly colored green) with ||"authority"|| as one of the words written in it. I did not get a screenshot of it in time because I thought it was just one of their post-run conversations and I've already finished the ||main quest and epilogue||. If anyone could tell me what it was that will be much appreciated. Its really bugging me that I can't remember it completely. Thank you

Really, if you keep pushing heat and always have a few Ambrosia and some nectar with you at all times…trade the rest as you get it for resources and upgrading and you’ll be fine…some of those convos take time to develops anyways.

Y'know, now that I've seen all of the game's main story, there's something thats been bugging me. Who's the narrator? Zag clearly interacts with him, but nobody else seems to acknowledge the narrator's existance. I know he isn't marked as a character on the wiki, so I doubt there's a "real" answer, but I can't stop thinking about it.

My brain keeps going back to Apollo, because prophecies, but that doesn't feel right.

So the more I play this game, the reasoning behind it is starting to get a little nonsensical:
"oh you beat me, keep beating me to see if others could so we could fix that" despite the fact that no other shade would have access to your resources
"You may now use your companions against me in the final boss fight, because other shades are gonna probably have access to Cthonic companions that Nyx made one of a kind for certain individuals"
"Here's a pact of punishment, which you don't need to use despite the whole job you get being made specifically about what measures should be taken to make escape impossible"
-EM3/4 don't make sense, why haven't they been doing that all along?

I love the game, and it doesn't ruin my experience, but wanted to share the things I noticed

I think a much simpler and stronger way to explain for the however many runs it takes to do Persephone's quest and the main story, after you bring her back, she tells you the plan immediately, and then after that, it could be to keep the Satyr problems in check and make an alternate final boss that's a massive group of satyrs doing something that Hades wants you to stop

And the wretches are trying to stop you because they're violent and seek to take that violence out on you

Theseus and Asterius do mention the metaness of them gaining and losing armor when you turn on EM3 and turn it off again

and the security testing explanation is like, if Zag, who has all these powers, can't get out, then nobody else can. Kind of like how companies would hire pro hackers to beat their security

@atomic forge I always took using the help of the gods as something that could actually happen if a shade was favored by them. They may not have all the gods helping, but some could.
I also took it as, if they can stop Zagreus, then they can stop anyone. Problem is they aren't stopping him and he is trying to find the flaws so they can be patched up. That's how I reasoned it to myself.

Also, personal opinion, Charon will sell to anyone.

Have you finished the epilogue? It can sometimes get in a long loop and delay those particular storylines…so I def recommend that you just keep living, fighting, dying, and repeating…you’ll get it eventually. I got stuck on a couple storylines for 25+ runs…

RNG runs on a desire sensor, the more you throw runs to go for something, the more it will avoid you.

Yeah the narrator just telling you a very brief overview was like... All I said was "what was the point of that" 😂 should have just shown a picture or two at least with their voice overs and a nice conversation. Like they did record voice lines and create new artwork for it so it was very odd. Did not enjoy that whole little thing it felt like a waste

If you continue to play the game and have the nectar or ambrosia to share, it is worth maxing everyone...you're already out and about, why not add some extra convos to the mix? Hypnos is one of my least fav characters, but he still balances out the whole narrative with the more comic relief or light-hearted style of dialogue.

My mates been having some issues completing Achilles' story line, ||he's already been told the line by Patroklus to "risk it all" and isn't getting any new dialogue from either of them but still hasn't even unveiled the prophecy yet. He has released Orpheus already and also has no more dialogue options with other possibly relevant characters like Nyx or even Hades.|| Anybody know what's up?

Yeah an issue with the game is not getting dialogue from the characters. Usually it’s just backlogged behind other pieces of dialogue

Does Zagreus have a canon age?

No; the gods are deathless and immortal. Time means little to them. No telling how old he is. In human age, he appears to be a young man in his early 20s. We know the relative ages of characters. We know characters such as Megaera and Thanatos are older than Zagreus, for example. We know Hades is the eldest among his brothers Poseidon and Zeus, stuff like that.

I am an older person. Likely one of the older ones here. I have yet to meet a single person who wasn't at some point ungrateful/rude/disrespectful to their parent. That is normal. It happens. So no, I don't think Zag is a brat.
And also, I dislike Nyx's attitude towards those "below" her. Zag was justified in being upset. Honestly, her attitude upset me greatly. I come from a family of laborers, so it hit close to home with her saying Dusa was "beneath" Zag and they shouldn't associate. So yeah, in my "old lady" eyes his reaction was justified.

Hypnos can be very insensitive, and Than is very sensitive. Of course they would inevitably have conflict. The resolution of their arc is that Than learns to empathize with him and to appreciate that Hypnos means well, and he's making efforts to be more of a big brother and give advice, be patient and understanding, etc. It's an on-going effort. Meanwhile, Hypnos learns to truly appreciate and understand his responsibilities and excels to the point he becomes Featured House Servant at times.

and that's your interpretation of it. but that's not how i interpret it, and in turn it was not a satisfying resolution

for me it comes off too much as hypnos being the primary one at fault and so i have problems with how the narrative chose to address it

points back at the things zag says that never get addressed, as a great example, because these were moments in which zagreus genuinely disappointed me, because he's always so concerned about everyone else's problems and wants to help them, so these portions of dialogue were very off putting to me

(this is not to say anyone else's interpretation is wrong but this is just explaining how i see it and why i personally take issue with it)

i enjoyed the aspects of Hynos's arc where he grew closer to Than, but think that they could have had the conflict between them resolved in a satisfying way without also going the route of "thank god Hypnos is finally earning his keep, we couldn't stand him when he was asleep all the time"

the base element of "Hypnos sucks at his job, and then gets better at his job" could have been something else, or executed differently

I love this game and have been thinking of this idea of having the option of a male or female playable character since the early release. I made a quick sketch on paper and wanted to use it to share this idea.
In mythology Melinoe is also a child of Hades and Persephone. She is the goddess of nightmares and ghosts. She is said to wear a peplos of saffron, so I designed her outfit to suit that concept while still trying to match it to the art/theme of the game. I also wanted to draw her to look similar enough to Zagreus that it’s a comparable female character. I think the storyline is already suitable for a male or female lead character and would love to have an option like this available one day.

This post I made in #h1-discussion seems more relevant here. I am thinking about Descent into the Realm of Chaos expansion where Zag wants to find Grandpa Cronus’ remains grave and dredges up all kinds of family drama. I could see a loose plot being:

Strange, new nightmarish creatures emerge in the Underworld
Hades sends Zag to investigate, worrying Cronus may be stirring
Zag discovers he has a half-sister from his mom and Zeus, Melinoë (nymph of nightmares), and she wants revenge on the gods for her mom and dad abandoning her (showing the other direction Zag could have gone)
eventually, the journey brings you to Cronus’ grave, which is guarded by Nyx

in a run, there's an optional one

true, there is but ||you can't invite chaos anyway. zag can ask chaos but chaos cannot come regardless if you invite them or not and it will never get referenced again outside of that dialogue||
