huh.
that do be some liminal space thing
I've seen episodes of twin peaks that were less weird
Malles those messages weren't in response to you
ok
Chronos isn't a god tho
No, Titans are Titans
They were the second order of divine beings, bellow that of Gaia and Uranus
Imagine ur children are gods and u don't even get that status
juvenile, tomato be upon ye đ
No I'm saying Titans are a higher title
Just as you have demigods etc. as a lower title
If they were just "gods" then we wouldn't have two different words, we'd just called them gods to begin with
Not "titans"
Titans have the power of gods and more
For example the titans cannot truly be killed, just contained and imprisoned. Whilst at least one god died, Pan.
oh, gotcha. I didn't know Pan died in the mythology.
whos Pan
alr now
how did bro get adiosed
đ
The Percy Jackson source is crazy
đ„¶
it's mythology so everything is kinda murky etc etc but i'm pretty sure titans are gods, just a sub group of gods differentiated from olympic gods. in hesiod's theogony they are specifically called "titan gods" https://www.theoi.com/Text/HesiodTheogony.html
one day, some guy on a boat said "the great god pan is dead". that's it. that's the story of pan's death.
other story i know is he decided to not eat the apples of the hesperides that supposedly make the gods immortal because he figured he'd rather be dead than be around when humans stop worshipping him. can't find an english translated source on that though and while i trust my source to have used original sources, i don't know what their source actually is so not sure if that's legit
bros durability is air level
Hey wanna know a funny thing? All of the myths are from "some guy"
None of them have some official bible that a central gouverning church made doctrine.
Anyway this discussion is semantic so let's move on
I just love that the Titans were in Dante's Inferno (because they were not gods but rather forces of nature)
Best poetry of the entire work, except that of Lucifer himself, is about the Titans
Dante's Inferno is the work that cemented the whole "levels of hell"
In the 8th level, just before the last 9th level, the Titans were chained in huge wells of water. Since they all beget from Gaia, earth, they were powerless in water. When they moved in their prisons the very earth shock as their giant shackles rustled.
But Dante noted that they were not tortured, there was no pain inflicted upon them that he could se. Virgil explained: The Titans were the most prodigious and strong creatures in existence, to have all that might brought low, to have fallen so low, to have become powerless after being so powerful, was a worse fate than nearly anything fathomable.
Dante and Virgirl??
It's a good poem
like DMC?
Yeah that's where the games took the names from yes.
Dante Inferno (The Divine Comedy) is basically the self-insert fanfic of Dante where his goes on a magical journey with his parasocial bestie to see all the people he doesn't like literally burning in hell
and at the end he gets the girl
10/10 top ao3 content
one hell of a date I would say
i guess i didn't write clearly enough, i didn't mean to say that some guy on a boat made up the story, it's that... some guy on a boat saying pan died is exactly how the story goes
"Whereupon Thamus looking from the poupe of the ship toward the land, pronounced with a loud voice that which he had heard, and said: The great Pan is Dead. He had no sooner spoken the word but there was heard a mighty noise, not of one but of many together, who seemed to groane and lament, and withall to make a great wonder. And as it falleth commonly out when as many be present, the newes thereof was soone spred and divulged through the city of Rome" https://penelope.uchicago.edu/plutarch/DeDefectu.html
Probably just skipped town for tax reasons...
How many times does Zagreus acknowledge his title of god of blood?
I can literally only think of like one or two times its acknowledged during the story
I think itâs super poetic that Zag and Than are super connected the way they are because of Zagâs title
Him being the god of blood sorta makes him a god of life, making him and Than opposites
That very point is highlighted by Achilles in the codex
Zagreus: I am the god of blood.
Yeah, but outside of the codex, and when he mentions it, is it ever referred to by any other characters? Or just him and Achilles?
Donât think so
Yeah, I think it's a realization between just Zag and Achilles.
yea so one time
I check the
book bonding
went to Achilles
and Zag said "wait Achilles says I'm the god of blood?"
then when talks to Achilles Zag tries to deny it
I mean the god of the dead and a technical god of lifeâs child being the god of blood makes a lot of sense
Persephone is only a demigod (in this canon), though, so Zagreus is too, which may explain why he bleeds like a mortal. On the other hand perhaps bleeding is kind of an essential quality to be a god of blood anyway
fr?
thought it was
Zeus's
with Demeters
yo holdon letme get my
"đ€"
lame
they changed that to avoid weird incest things happening. Persephone's father is an unnamed mortal and Demeter is only a foster sister to Hades
wha
Huh
so⊠the pantheon in hades is a non-incesty version?
wasnt it the 6 siblings Hades Posei Zeus Demeter Hera and one I dont remember
yknow the whole reason the family HAS THE BAGGAGE IN THE FIRST PLACE
no, not even close, there's still aphrodite and ares implications, but they wanted to avoid incest in the main relationship lol
though actually wait I forgot
aphrodite isn't a daughter of zeus, so no, even that one isn't incesty
huh
oh simply
I feel like it's more cause... they're gods
Chronos spayed part
Aphro and Ares fine I dont mind
but
aint
the whole Greek pantheon jsut a
family tree
or your average math question shape
like Demeter being a foster is highly "how"
I think wanting to just avoid that aspect of it is neither here nor there, it's just not that important tbh
alr fair
wussies
To make demigod relationships okay, âgods dont have dna, so you donât have to worry about itâ
I think part of it is that brother-sister incest is one thing (still kinda icky, but kind of acceptable for gods of the same age) but Persephone being Hades' niece is just... strange
well I can accept that
but tho something people should focus on
is how Hades got that dawg in him
asked for Zeus-her father's permission
and he just swooped her
yoinked
not in this canon so idk
I mean, he both didn't ask and Zeus isn't her father in this canon
yeah greek myth was weird about that
plus gods be doing worse things than incests
is aphro / ares relationship even acknowledged in the game at all?
i don't remember rn
not. explicitly, but it is very strongly hinted at in their duo boon dialogues
Aphro said "My husband(Ares) got a weird job(killing)"
more in their tone honestly, but it feels pretty undeniable when you hear it
plus, marriage is a lie made by Hera to prevent Zeus from populating
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM_syHkWG4E - the very first one is the aphro/ares one, it feels pretty clear cut
ngl I would like to hear some blasphemous voicelines in the new Hades 2
try something new
i feel like you'd only interpret it that way if you already (ship them or) know there's a relationship in the source material, it's not explicitly explicit
I mean, Ares says "dear" in a very particular way, Aphrodite is pretty flirty all the time but she's really cranking it up here, and it fits the source material, so yeah idk
also, in most of her other duos she's just sassing the other god, which doesn't happen here
true, ares prob wouldn't call anyone else dear like that
oh also, timestamp 3:27 onwards has two alternative ares/aphro dialogues where it feels even more clear lol
"we can carry on in private about that" lmao
oh. i didn't watch the whole thing bc i'm supposed to be getting ready for work
will check it out later, thanks
yk uh
"hey Zag, Ares my husband"
seems outa pocket to say
that would be technically wrong and cause some severe butthurt in olympus
there's always someone butthurt on olympus
ftr if it sounded like that, i didn't mean to argue against it, i was just wondering because i honestly couldn't remember and i feel the game is often deliberately vague about things
sometimes i wish it was possible to reset just the dialog in a file
TRUE
(about the butthurt part)
SGG trynda keep the game friendly for 13+
based off Greek Mythology.
honestly I think they did an amazing job tho
didnt even notice that there was no swearing
just old but gold trash talking
There is made up swearing, blood and darkness
Better teach him that swear before he picks up any other
Imagine you don't tell your son to say Blood and darkness and a while after he starts saying motherfu-
Honestly this isnât the worst parenting approach? Like heâs being weird about it but if you teach a child both the meaning and use context of a swear as well as the degree of appropriateness towards using it then theyâll be more aware and curses and etc. wonât be as enticingly unfamiliar or rebellious, so they will actually model the behavior you want
If a kid says a swear word itâs better to educate upon it in great detail because that makes it less cool :]
mfw my parents start infodumping on every curse words imaginable, forever destroying my willingness to swear (and my capacity to be fun at parties)
Nah it just means you have to be extra creative
Which can either be a boon or a burden
Ares duo boon with Samuel L. Jackson : Curse of cursing
zag when hades gets up a second time in em4
also that is such a good example of parents being surprised pikachu dot jpeg when their kids emulate them. not the swearing, just hades always inappropriately (for a parent) dumping his negative feelings about being stuck in the underworld on his son and then being upset when he actually tries to leave
Thatâs an angle Iâve never considered before!!
Wow thatâs so fascinating
Say it with me: generational trauma
I think Hadesâ upset at Zag leaving was a mixture of him being disappointed in/kinda envious of Zag for abandoning his duties as Prince when Hades himself has always refused to abandon his duty as Lord; anger that he was behaving (what Hades perceived as) spoiled and self-indulgent, thinking Zag aspired to be like the Olympians; feeling threatened by Zag interacting with the Olympians and potentially getting Persephone in danger; and something to the left of sadness that his son was running away
Hades says himself that Zag was the only person he had left he considered family, so to lose that so violently mustâve been hurtful
Zag in doin what he does inadvertently actually gives Hades back his familial support structure
At minimum he now has Persephone to balance him out, and some amicable relationship with Zeus which makes his work-life a little easier
And of course a developing relationship with his son
I think at the beginning of the game and prior to it he sees zag as the direct cause why persephone left and he resents him for it without zag having done anything wrong, and his act of trying to escape both reminds him of her leaving and angers him because he canât do the same for various reasons as you said
hades and his beef with his own baby
Oooh though thatâs a valid interpretation I would honestly kinda disagree
Imo if he did blame Zag then he would be more vindictive about it, especially after Zag reveals he knows about him mom. I imagine heâd make comments specifically about Zagâs fault and etc
I donât think he had beef with Zag as a thing that happened? He more so blames himself for Persephone leaving
itâs been a while since I played the story so forgive me for not having my stuff in order LOL
Like he does love his son for the most part and tried to raise him to be a good man, which I think if he resented him he would shunt the childrearing all to Nyx
I just remember playing it for the first time and some things really stuck with me and struck a nerve
Oh for sure
Understandable completely
But yeah Hadesâ insults to Zag are primarily about Zagreusâ character, which is attached to Hadesâ own issues with the Olympians and trauma as a God and Older Sibling
I think if I were to play it again from the start I may have different opinion and analyses but itâs such a beast to replay and gameplay-wise its hard for me when Iâm all maxed out and have been for so long
Oh, now I wonder if Hades will talk to Zagreus about being an older brother, since melinoë is there... Though I'm not sure Hades did much in his childhood. Given he was in someone's stomach.
(Hereâs a paragraph of me talkin about Hades and Zag lol #h1-story-discussion message theyâre my favorite narrative in the game)
OH MANNN
THAT WOULD BE SO COOL
OH please please that would literally be perfect
He was primarily the one reining in the other gods iirc? He insinuates as such beforehand
I really hope they donât go down the route of making Hades like, super sweet on Mel but still tense with Zag that would suck badddd
Undo all of the character work on Hadesâ part
Don't get your hype up too much, maybe we'll just see a flashback of zag asking hades
"Father, do you have any advice about taking care of Melinoë ? You had younger siblings too..."
"Zagreus, the only advice I could give you is to not get eaten."
Hades is like at his core not a great parent (he doesnât have a lot of the necessary qualities), itâs part if the reason he messed up so bad with Zag . So him being a great parent to Mel would make his and Zagâs relationship even more fueled by spite and specific dislike rather than simple incompetence
This would still be excellent though
it do be good advice
Like the vignettes at the beginning of each run demonstrate a LOT about his relationship with Zag
Small things like that would deepen the worldbuilding and overall narrative about family a LOT
How to be a good older brother :
- Don't get eaten
- ???
- Blood and Darkness my whole family is screwed up
Zag telling Mel âyou know, father never told me being an older brother would be so booringâ or something idk
It doesnât have to be so jokey
Zag being an adult helping take care of his child sibling is also a unique dynamic
I imagine being in a stomach is pretty boring though, if anything that might be the only shared feeling between the two situations
Pffft jesus
I imagine Zag would end up parenting Mel to an extent which would add a dimension to her disposition that Zag didnât have
Where Zag had Nyx and Hades (both kinda dark and gloomy and not super affectionate) Mel will also have Persephone and Zag as well
A lot more balance and light in her life
ORRR nother story plot, she maybe wasnât raised in the underworld and thus doesnât know them well
I donât like that potentiality because it strips her of a lot of deep potential relationships
I feel like she wouldn't be as driven to rescue Hades if so
She might, itâs happened in stories before
Off the top of my head you have like. Hercules in the Disney movie
Does hercule rescue Zeus ?
Hunter x Hunter maybe?
Yeah he fights the Titans and Hades at the climax to rescue the Olympians and Greece
"Hey big dude, what're you doing in the deepest pits of tartarus ? Anyway, I'm searching for my father, Hades. Heard of him ?"
"GIRL I AM HADES UNTIE ME THIS INSTANT AND I WILL SEND YOU BACK TO THE STYX I SWEAR"
She mightâve heard stories, or been with them when she was very young
then he just rips off the chains himself out of sheer offended rage and proceeds to EM4 you while shirtless
Itâs especially not uncommon in Greek myth stories for children to be captivated with a parent they even never met
Like Perseus maybe?
I wouldnât like it but it wouldnât surprise me
Similar thing to the orphan hero, mitigating these relationships to create a sense of tragedy/lost opportunity also handicaps your ability to add depth to your protagonist through the relationships that shapes them
She at least has Hecate
they personified planets, hermes is mercury, ares is mars, aphrodite is venus, zeus is jupiter, chronos is saturn, look into astrotheology
pluto is hades
Those are their Roman names
all the ancients did this, in norse mythology hermes/mercury is odin in egypt thoth etc.
I think the differences between those three are stark enough to differentiate them
nah
source : they told me directly
Why did persephone not go home with zagreus
Do it again
Im at a certain part where she says something about olympus n a war n stuff, i skipped through all of em, what does it mean
Dem made cuz persephone gone > gods helping zag may make them notice where she's hiding and if that happens > chaos
But just keep escaping anyways
Ohh thanks
How many clears do i have to make to get her to come home
10 clears
she litterally
comes and goes lol
oh wait ohhhh
the storyline
sunset was still a thing
this is probably a more general question about greek mythology but when a new god is born how is there "space" for their new job?
For example before Thanatos was born who managed peaceful death
and were they angry over their loss of control over a piece of the world?
If Zag is the god of blood like Achilles suggested does that mean Ares's power has decreased because he controlled bloodshed and therefore blood before his birth?
I wouldn't consider 'bloodshed' and 'blood' to be part of the same portfolio
But in regards to your question overall, I don't think there's a proper answer for that
Probably a good topic for worldbuilding/theological discussion
oh uh imagine
how flawed the world was before them gods
and also
Greek mythos were convoluted
like hell them greek writers be writing whatvever they want
plus, most of the greek bible were burned off bcs of some Chrsitian fanboy
so questions like those were never answered
and so
its more like a "it just works" momento
"greek bible"
sheesh should I be more specific
alr it was like
a piece of paper writers wrote on
CULTURAL HEGEMONY REEEEEEE
i think the answer to that question is mostly that the gods weren't just characters in stories as they are to us, but part of actual, practiced religion. people would make offerings to a god in hope they'd help them with whatever issue they were having, that's how they'd become god of their thing. eg ares isn't some sort of marvel super hero / villain with special powers of controlling war, just who you'd pray to if you're going to war (unsure if pray is the correct word but you know what i mean). that's also why some, especially older gods are gods of a whole lot of things - different people in different circumstances would have different relationships to their deities.
it's kind of like asking, if the christian god created everything, where did he come from? there's no answer to that because that's not the point of that religion
as for how that works in hades, the game, specifically, i tried to figure that out at some point and i think it's just... there's no logic to it
litterally what I said
"it just works"
yea
actually the thing that makes the least sense to me in the game regarding that is than and hypnos being implied to be around the same age as zag, ie relatively young
I mean in mythos that did happen with the Titans, which I imagine was partly the point of the Titanomachy
Like Helios was the Sun Titan eh? And then when he was defeated it became Apollo
Metaphysically I do believe itâs just a matter of the shift in belief, as people would begin to believe in a certain god over another part of the domains would transfer as well
So in game, as Zag becomes more renowned as a god (perhaps even over Ares in certain aspects) he would take over certain domains
This doesnât make sense to me either, as Than and Hypnos and Meg and a bunch of others both have dialogue talking about things that had to have happened before Zagâs birth, because he doesnât know about them
Than is definitely way older than Zag
if you're talking about the painting that's basically noncanon
Than talks several times to/about Persephone and how he knew her before she left
same with Meg
Demeter makes reference to Helios' chariot being the Sun
that would imply he is still "around" in some capacity at least
in one of those pre run flashbacks hades tells zagreus he has no time for him and to "go play with thanatos, or hypnos, or the dog" which to me sounds like they'd still be kids, or at least youth, at the time
persoally i am less confused about thanatos and hypnos being older than zag (i think they are supposed to be), but about them being much younger than the olympic gods
re: gods and regarding jobs and such when new gods enter the world, fwiw many gods had multiple domains beyond their primary ones they're most well known for
In fact it gets pretty crazy
I think notably Artemis and Zeus are very God of the kitchen sink
Apollo too a bit, as well as hermes and athena I guess ?
Now that I think about it, I imagine it's the same for catholic saints
I don't have any example in mind, but I remember seeing some wild associations
calisse du tabernak
(sorry, catholic mentioned)
apollo is the gold standard of that
he had so many portfolios that he didn't even really have one "characteristic" thing
Incorrect, Packrat: Helios was the Sun
in game yes
agh the weather here already started to get hotter
Persephone go back to the Underworld pls
persephone, the goddess of global warming
I can't believe Zagreus is responsible for global warming

Major Spoiler: |||So I went to fight Hades for the tenth time... only to discover he lets me go, lol that was quite the surprise! It's sad though, because I had a good build going, I didn't intend to complete it, but I had the shield and I entered three chaos gates (to see if I can get chaos to talk about the beowulf aspect). Either way, I quite enjoyed the ending here, and hearing Orpheous and Euridice sing with that awesome song? Damn. Well worth it. I'm mostly glad I could get this so I didn't get spoiled without earning this first. Now I'm gonna just have fun with the game.||
That's awesome ! Have fun and good luck on your new job
Going back to this quickly I believe thereâs a dialogue line with Hermes where he says it used to be his job to bring souls to Charon, and he didnât seem too upset about it becoming Thanatosâ job
I could be misremembering that though.. thereâs so many lines itâs hard to keep track (though who knows if that was part of true Greek canon or only Hades canon)
Itâs definitely only Hades canon
If there was any conflict like that in real Greek myth it would have been violent
it was also in blood of zeus tho
as I said
"it just works"
season 2 come out yet
heard there was a trailer
idk i'm not following the news on that
also apparently hermes guiding souls to the underworld is not just in the game, according to this, they cite the odyssee and others https://www.theoi.com/Olympios/Hermes.html
he would also guide dreams to peopleđ
Hermes was the ancient Greek god of herds and flocks, travellers and hospitality, roads and trade, thievery and cunning, heralds and diplomacy, language and writing, athletic contests and gymnasiums. He was also the herald Zeus, king of the gods. Hermes was depicted as either a handsome and athletic, beardless youth, or as an older bearded man. ...
Oh yeah that part is canon
The part about Hermes being like, okay with giving his job up to Than is almost assuredly made up
oh, that's what you meant, sorry, i misunderstood
wondering about the exact dialog though because i don't remember game hermes actually giving up the job
I think he got mixed with the ||telling Hermis to shut up options||
i thought about it and just realize how painful some of Zag's death can be
the guy just kind of shake it off when he comes back tho đđ
Zag stronger than me fr if i died from a spike trap you bet my ass ill be locking myself in my room for like a week to cope
to be fair he is a god and i guess dying over and over again just kind of make it better??
thats why we love zag
also lbr he's probably been long since accustomed to death even long before the game starts
i feel like learning how to cope with death would be one of the first things a cthonic god undergoes
Has anyone here not finished your first run yet
#h1-for-new-players is probably best because you won't have spoilers
Nah I have finished it
I just meant if anyone here didnât finish it
So I could talk about the game without worrying abt spoilers
This channel isn't spoiler free so you are fine
(spoiler marks may be used if you want anyways)
Alr thanks
i'd assume death is probably less traumatic when you know it's not the end, even if it's painful
also i love how they just took that and made him straight up masochistic, like it's not just a joke or to add edginess or whatever, it's just something that makes sense in the context of his character as a whole and the game mechanics
like even the stupid things players will do like post lernie magma baths to replenish health with stubborn defiance - it just makes sense for his character
it's probably similar to a boxer getting a beating in the ring. Not particularly enjoyable, but hey, that's how it is
Also, a huge theme within the game is actually Zag's resilience I believe! The fact that he keeps trying in the face of all of those struggles informs a lot about how he approaches his relationships with everyone in the game, and how he changes the lives of the people around him
It's not just the symbol of the Sisyphean task, it's also that his arc of character growth involves him learning to take more responsibility within his own life, and the inciting incident to all of that is that in order to get what he wants (freedom, his mother) he can't run away from the things that hurt him anymore and has to face them head on
That part is concretized in his many deaths, but you see it also in his romantic relationships with Meg and Than (admitting his faults and apologizing to Meg is a "painful" thing he would not have wanted to do in the beginning of the story, and having the patience and emotional maturity to address Than's anxieties is also a trait he had to develop through "painful" self-reflection) and especially his relationship with his father (choosing to come to some sort of understanding and sympathy/empathy with Hades, as someone who had abused him, is also a rather painful thing to do).
I guess the way I'd summarize it, is that his many runs to try and reach the surface functionally represent Zag's coming-of-age story where he achieves self-actualization and maturity, and his many deaths during those runs symbolically represent the more painful adult realities of his situation that he has to learn to accept and become content with
Yall- I recently got persephone back down and hermes just mentioned that he knows âsomeone is backâ. Is that just a random line of dialogue or does that mean stuffâs gunna change (like the other gods finding out)
Idt they know until you trigger the epilogueâs steps, thatâs why they keep helping you believeing still youâre escaping to go to Olympus, though it could be one of those godly hunches
(Idk if this is even the right channel mb)
Hermes is a homie so nah
Okay thank god đ
Yeah, Hermes knows about the whole shebang but he's the best so he's not making a fuss with the others about it
I love Hermes, such a homie
Bro doesn't have a mean bone in him, because bones would slow him down
Too true
honestly watching Theseus having a melt down bc he keeps on losing to Zag is kind of funny and a bit sad tbh
hes sooo scared that his bull bf is gonna leave him for Zag damn
gotta love theseus
Fffffffffffinallyyyyyy!! The true ending!!
https://youtu.be/GlxduhNTHDU?si=mSPnuqQ1BSKHnvDH
When a Boon drops in the game, what is Zagreus actually seeing?
Like, what exactly is the ball? Is it a portal? Is it a mirror, a crystal sphere? I know this is super specific but It's been bugging me lol.
well what i remember is that its a one-way communication, the only way he can respond is by making an offering
When he gets each boon for the first time he comments on the shape, so I think he literally is seeing the icons lol
for example Artemis, he says it can only be one heavenly archer
(or several)
well then maybe hes seeing them the same way
or maybe its a little suspension of disbelief (?) for gameplays sake
They're definitely one way. The gods can make out a bit of his environment but he can't communicate back in any way (other than accepting or not accepting the message).
Oh you can't swear here. My apology for swearing was for nothing. LOL.
I am so irritated.
Trying to finish the hearts/Ambrosia with everyone. Finally got a ||fish to appear|| before picking up a ||Poseidon|| boon... except apparently, if you buy a boon, that doesnt count towards it appearing in the Boon pool.
So even though I bought a core boon for that God, I never found them again. So I never got to unlock the hearts.
I'm just going to bring the chamber reroll next time.
Unfortunately, a painful lesson learned today. I will get to see the ending sooner or later.
I can take solace that I did unlock Athena and will soon unlock Hermes' hearts though.
iirc you can just keep the fish, ie not sell it to the head chef, and use poseidon's keepsake to make him appear in the next run
Itâs very funny to imagine Chaos playing hide and seek with a tiny Nyx, an entity that looks like if a Biblically accurate angel became a humanoid floating around trying to catch a tiny baby
đ
I'm going to have to try this.
This is just bad luck
Taking a boon anywhere will add them to your pool
But as junco said yesh you won't get the right dialogues if it's from a shop
(I think you can only get the "look how charon helped us"/duo dialogue/generic)
This did not work for anyone curious.
but I finally did it. Oh my god.
Absolute horrible luck with Poseidon. He was the biggest problem of all. but that sweet relief when I got him and the fish... I know I could've swapped m Keepsake to his, but
- 1 I wasn't expecting him to be so stubborn!
- 2 I was trying to get others unlocked as well, so I was running Hermes for fast runs.
A few tears though. Tears of both relief, stress and satisfaction. Hades has to definitely be my favourite game.
Keeping the fish does work but sometimes rng just hates you
I thought you were a bot
Nah
Bad bot!
If you say it does, I'll believe you, but where does RNG come into it?
Dialogues are picked from a list at random
I bumped into him several times whilst keeping a fish and no matter which order I found him, it did not trigger it. As soon as I caught a fish THEN spoke to him, it triggered.
Some stuff have certain priority but is mostly story stuff
Rotten.
So the trigger for pos is like "catch enough fish/have 1 with you before talking" but then to actually picking the dialogue is another thing
Someone here took like a month? To get Asterius to mention the hidden fists phrase
Is also what causes the typical post/question of "if my quest bugged?"
(also this can delay side quests if you still have main story available for example lol)
Cuz characters will start talking about what's going on
So how much does Zagreus exactly know about the Surface, Greece? Since the amount of time he ventures past Hades is quite varying, sometimes only a few steps, sometimes enough to reach a crossing to get run over by a chariot. Ik itâs mostly for jokes but Iâm just curious
wait so does catching a fish during a run (when you have that quest so to speak) change poseidon's dialog priority? so he'll be more likely to acknowledge a freshly caught fish?
thx for reporting back anyway, i wasn't sure about it either
it's important to remember that he apparently knows a fair bit of information from what people in the underworld have told him and/or what he's learned from his education
but in regards to actual firsthand experience, probably not much, no
He canonically doesn't know/understand what birds are
His primary source of information about Greece is Achilles I believe, everyone else either doesn't know as much or doesn't bother to tell him
re: poseidon heart, fwiw the text trigger literally is just "has a fish on hand" but you also need a minimum of 18 fish caught in total up to that point. entirely possible it was funky rng, or you didnt meet the minimum fish requirement
had up to 70 fish at the time. i've had plenty of fish on me whilst speaking to him, but it was specifically "fish first then speak to him" which triggered him.
so either RNG was super specific, or it is what happened what worked. which would be what the guide said to do.
dunno what to tell you, i just looked at it when i replied đ game be like that sometimes
My headcanon is that after Persephone goes back to the underworld he starts slowly building up his stamina enough that he can stay on the surface for a few days, but that's just me
Mostly because I like the idea of him interacting with living mortals even briefly
zagreus also seems to have read a lot of books. or at least own a lot of books. or at least has them scattered around his room. maybe those or some of those are greek books and books about greece?
My personal headcanon is that Zag just doesnât read any of them
Cuz he doesnât use his weights and he doesnât sit in his chairs and he doesnât play his board game
Only thing in his room he uses at all is the Harp
Heâs far too impatient and inattentive to read imo lol
Zag's deaths on earth is so damn goofy
like wdym he ran into a wall that was painted to look like a tunnel with an opening on the other side
goofy ahhh death
and that one time he sniffed a flower and died
do you think he experiment different new ways to die when he reaches the surface
it seems like a Zagreus thing
yeah i can totally see that
however if we go with the adhd thing i could also imagine him as hyperfocusing on stories, making him able to read books tho. it's not like they have a lot of other media in the underworld, and he does read achilles' codex if the player does. plus he's been stuck in the house of hades his whole life, and even if we imagine that as being bigger than what we see in the game, that's sorta limited
Ooh good point
In that case I think he obsesses over Achilles stories cuz thatâs his mentor and his idol
So if Achillies is telling it or is part of it or is recommending it then heâs on top of it like ants on cheddar
zag i feel like heâs a HUGEE reader (hah), like he was not allowed out the house and that is bound to get boring at some point, plus he also gushes over Theseus the first time he met him
saying heâs a legend n such
Hamburger
thesus
Astersus
hypnos is lowkey the scarier twin change my mind
i fear people who are chill
they usually have some sort of unyielding rage hiding somewhere i know it
Nah in this case heâs just eepy
he is constantly on like 2 hours of sleep
i dont think he even sleeps the guy seems to just nap
Correct, and heâs just chilling
He is đš
I mean, he is pretty powerful. He put the entire House to sleep just cuz Zag asked him to lol
he's my idol
Something I find interesting is that Hades, despite his anger at Nyx, still refers to the Underworld as âtheirâ realm. It gives the implication that he typically acknowledges her authority over it, which is an interesting contrast to the evident violation he feels about her butting into his conflict with Zag
Cuz technically, Zag is âtheirâ son
Given the fact that she literally formed the house out of nothing with her powers and holds significant direct power over the Underworld, his respect is unsurprising
I mean sure
But Iâm specifically talking about that respect in the context of their coparenting of Zagreus
Mmm
Yeah Hades is definitely frustrated but he very much seems the type to maintain a separation between work and personal life in that regard
Even if the two are very, very closely related
For sure
It's hard when your partner is your boss or vice versa or anything of the like, that power imbalance and the weight of that responsiblity really wears down your relationship
Now imagine that they're not even your partner, that you are limited by that lack of immediate intimacy
Yeah I can't imagine Hades and Nyx being actual 'partners' in any deeper way than what they are now
i.e. stable colleagues who work closely together
But that in itself can cause weird rumors and implications
And for all their power and dignity, neither of them are remotely emotionally unshakeable individuals
The thing is is that like, I can imagine them being partners on a deeper level in that they have a lot in common, evidently do care about each other (going back to that respect Hades showed, and to Nyx respecting him back), and their history as co-managers of the underworld and co-parents to Zag
Persephone has a line where she mentions it, Nyx implies a deeper connection there as well, but I get the geenral consensus
(in my head they have an interesting qpr relationship but that's obviously just fanon, everything ^ is canon)
Theyâre narrative foils and they have a lot of tensioned conflict between them throughout the story and honestly I will say itâs a little more balanced of a conflict than Iâve seen portrayed
eh agree
just work mates
plus both of em know 1 or 2 things abt relationships themselves
does anyone remember if there's dialog on the aspect of nemesis suggesting she had already used it before the events of the game?
I believe the aspect description says she once used it
Ah right thank you
I just realised, humans other than the characters we meet(even then, most of them are actually demi gods), arnt really present in the game, nor talked about. This whole time I wanted hades 2 to have promeuthes in it, but creating humans and liking them is a huge part of his character in greek mythology, so I guess in hindsight(pun unintended) it wouldn't make too much sense with lacking context.
Obviously shades exist, and we get a lot of talk about the souls of enemies. But nothing about human culture or what civilisation is like on the surface.
Probably because we play things from Zagreus' perspective, who although he knows some things about surface civilization (e.g. his conversations with Achilles, Skelly, Asterius), he generally isn't incredibly well informed (e.g. his convo with Thanatos about how humans view death); there's also the simple fact that the surface itself isn't incredibly relevant to the story of the game, hence why we don't get too much info about it
just saw an opening from Hades himself talking about where the satyrs may have been coming from. Think they were from Kronos now?
how tf did satyrs become the evil dudes
ooh idea
they got forced down into the underworld because of the harsh surface conditions
and uh
went mad
probably a mid theory but ill take it
How do I get the permission to post pics
You have to spend 3 diamonds
I cant get past megđ
Too much work for a small detail
So dio can make you prank orpheus that youre the same god
Thats actually a detail from real world myth where historians theorize dionysus is an offshoot of a much older god( by that I mean the time period when they were prayed to)
I mean thereâs is Dionoysus Zagerus
In some Greek paintings and mythology sometimes zagerus is considered dionoysus
Yeah thats what I meant
Ohhh
I shouldve mentioned that the older god was named zagreusđ
Have fun
...this doesn't sound good?
Just go đ«
Ok, the epilogue
I love the game
I'll oviously still play it, but I wanted to still leave my impression
The voices, the characters, the gameplay, the fact that a defeat is a part of the story and not a reset
Everything is made really well and with love
The game is brilliant
Congrats on reaching the credits!
Thanks!
random thought, at first i disliked the phrase "fear is for the weak" because i hate when weakness and being afraid are posited as something negative, but then i realized
the phrase also means it's ok to be afraid when you are, in fact, weak. and by itself it doesn't judge that
Oh yeah! There was often a guy at a table on the main walkway of my university who displayed a similar phrase: "religion is for the weak"
To clarify, he very much meant it in the same vein
How does Theseus get to be in Elysium? Isn't this the same guy who tried to kidnap Persephone? The Olympians don't seem particularly fond of him either.
now that you say that i feel like we talked about this here before and i forgot
he's a hero. heroes go to elysium. they don't have to be morally good like modern heroes
dad has dialog about how the heroes aren't that great to him
I think you're right! Deja vuuuuuu
As Hades himself said: "Elysium isn't for the good, it's for the great"
What matters is that you accomplished significant things, not whether you were a good person while doing them
Nor even whether those things were even necessarily good
Whatâs especially hilarious about this point is that even though Hades himself doesnât like it he (as literal King) has not changed it since he got there
Sure maybe the mortals would riot or something but him not even like, considering it is so silly to me
I liek cheeseburger
Ever tried kebab?
Ok, I just beat the ugraded heros. Giving Theseus a car and a machiene gun is extremely funny
vroom vroom
dionysus his top opp
also based pfp and username
wait he gets WHT
im only using that pact from now on bro
its very funny and he laughs maniacally as he speeds around the arena
IM YSUNG THAT PCT BRO
IDC IF IT GOES HIGHER THAN MY low HEAT GAUGE
GIVE !! HIM!!! A CAR!!!!
YES
Definition of a tweakster
tweakeus
That's what I was mainly wondering. Even if Theseus is eligible for Elysium, if he has personal beef against Hades, Hades can just say âYou know what, screw this guyâ and put him in Tartarus anyway.
Yeah but I guess Hades doesn't let his personal grudges affect his judgement.
True
Also doesnt he have like
a panel of judges
i only remember king minos is on it
In the mythologies he does.
They don't seem to be there in this game.
Kill minos
Judgement
thy end is now
Don't think I'll ever get over this line (final boss intro) ||we're gods boy.|| Ugh it's just always going to give me chills
Ahh I think Iâve finally unlocked the next step in Achilles story!!
JUDGEMENT
is blud a polygon
the devs reduced my polygon count
dev polygon scandal
Ok Iâll take this here bc itâs relevant
Was dusa implied to be trans at some point or am I misremembering. There is So much dialogue in this game
Canonically I mean
I know she is ace but I remember something about it⊠I donât know how to find it though
Melakar kind of answered but pinging @open berry Just in case u know what Iâm talking about specifically
I wouldnât call it an implication necessarily, in that the line itself was too vague to be about transness itself
?
(Sorry sent it too early)
I donât remember the line
It went something like âIâve left it behind me an am much happier now without itâ or something
So the implication here is body dysmorphia at minimum, which could then be extrapolated into body dysphoria
Persephone also has a couple lines that could be extrapolated into a beat about transness, when she talks about changing her name
I think, then, it would be too vague about dysmorphia either đ€
Well her previous name meant âyoung maidenâ. Considering sheâs a woman I find it hard to believe that itâs the intention
Dusa feels more intentional, implied or even hinted at to me
even if itâs not as direct as her being ace
In my mind sometimes a story doesnât have to be a direct 1-1 to be about a certain thematic element, yâknow? Fundamentally the Persephone-Kore bit is about Persephone finding an identity and a presentation that suits her more than what was assigned to her at birth, so it reflects elements of a trans-story in that way and thus, if someone chooses, can be interpreted as such I feel
As Iâve been taught, dysmorphia is more about oneâs dislike of their body for perceived flaws with it (so Dusa not liking her body on an aesthetic level), which is a much easier connection to make with the line as it exists versus dysphoria, which is about a deep feeling of disconnection one feels towards their body via gender identity specifically
Theyâre both possible interpretations đ
Important to note: dysmorphia isn't just a dislike of percieved body flaw(s).
Its much more than that and effects those are dysmorphic a heckin lot
Oh for sure
Itâs much more intense than just dislike that was just the first word I could think of as well as the word itâs defined by in the dictionary đ
regained your polygons i see
woah dusa gender
i love this game đ how many genres is this thjng
I like that Hypnos shares more colours with Chaos than Nyx, Charon, or Than. Itâs a cool way to show heâs a bit of a black sheep among them
I KNEW I WASNT THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED
ive been saying this to my friends but they already think im cray cray
do you think the reason Nyx favors Than more than Hypnos is bc of how similar he seems to be with Chaos
i mean
in a dream the limit is your imagination after all
their domains seems to cross much more than Nyx's other children
I don't know if it's necessarily that Hypnos is like Chaos, because what she disliked in Chaos was their lack of real empathy? If that makes sense? They drifted apart because Chaos was a largely uninvolved parent- which is a little ironic, considering everything
But Chaos would definitely see more value in Hypnos than Nyx would, which could create discord between them for sure
Hypnos and his realm are far more closely intertwined with the lives of mortals than Nyx's or even Thanatos, in that the latter all work from a distance where he has to work up close and personal. Both in the codex and in general mythology Hypnos is considered to be a kind and gentle god, of which is complimented by his cheery disposition- also of which is contasted by the darker, more gothic dispositions of his family.
All this to say, Hypnos is himself a bit of a wrong note- he's so different from his family it makes him weird and a little unpredictable to them, which I think Chaos would enjoy :)
I so so so desperately hope the two of them interact in Hades 2
i love their weird little grandson
Why does Hades not throw his spear for range? Is he stupid?
em4:
Damn they really made me pay so Hades can play with the Y button
finally rolled credits on hades 1 in time for hades 2!
Now to go after the Epilogue while the wait continues!
there's an epilogue? đ
Yes
Max relationship with the gods
And keep talking with people to eventually trigger the true ending
Depending on how much of that you've done, shouldn't take too long
oh i see, guess I need to get round to that, thank you
Is there another thing to do for hermes to unlock his hearts? Hes the only character I have left to max out hearts for but even after I completed his quest to defeat charon twice he hasn't unlocked his hearts. He did acknowledge it with a voiceline the next time i spoke to him but its been a couple of runs now and he still hasn't unlocked
Talk to him with his keepsake at 3*
I did that as well but he didnt say anything
ill try again though maybe i just need to do it a few more times thank you đ
You sure his keepsake was maxed out?
If yes then have fun with the rng
He needs to speak of it three times
Wait he has 3 dialogues for that?
Huh, where did you see that
The wiki
I'm pretty sure he needs to talk three times
I actually went to check again, but they didn't actually say how many times
That's why I asked lol, was also checking
Maybe I'm hallucinating
Mixing it with the fact the plume must be maxed at 3*
Or something
Disciple of hermes caught spreading misinfo about hermes himself
Regardless, I think that in the game he has at least three dialogues about the plume
Even if you don't have to hear them all for his favor
Let me check what Youtube has to say about his favor
Ok, survey says he only needs to speak of it once
But there is more than one plume related dialogue in the whole game
That must have been what threw me off
pog i got it on my latest run i think maybe i did just have another dialogue blocking it the previous time
but his was the first one i maxed out so im sure that i def talked to him more than 3 times w it
Well, glad you finally got it
To be fair, misinformation is a very Hermes thing, so I'm being a very good disciple lol
best aspect on exagryph?
im at level 2 with hestia
damn i didnt think it'd be that strong
i think i killed the aspect with this hammer boon that makes it so i dont have to reload
lmao
You can still reload
oh you're right
In game lore, demeter is our grandma instead of our grandma/aunt right
Yep!
Yes
Demeter is the child of Hyperion and not Chronos in this
So are Hestia and Hera
Why donât we just poor cold water on Hypnos head?
for what purpose
To make him cold and damp, of course!
Let my guy sleep
if he makes us suffer like that then no he doesn't deserve to
what suffering
By making fun of us every time we die
Also question
Is it ever established who the disembodied voice is describing stuff
Not in Hades 1
Hades 2 makes it rather clear
Then I don't wanna know atm
Fair lmao
there is a thing that can be bought from the house contractor that might give you an idea who it is, hades 2 is just really obvious about it in probably the first two hours of playing
hes not making fun of you though. the dialogue hints multiple times that he genuinely believes he's being helpful
hes just like. bad at social cues yknow.
I am trying to complete the epilogue achievement with minimum spoilers as possible what is the important one step to achieve this?? Completed 100 runs won maybe 30, completed heat 16.
deepen your friendships with everyone, and keep talking to them
someone help me understand the sequal pls i played the first one like crazy
bought the 2nd one now
but idk whats the story behind it
you can ask any questions you have in the #h2-discussion
it's a direct sequel, and i can imagine the game's story will speak for itself
hi ||I got thousands of fish and always caught one before talking to poseidon, he even commented "I'm told a number of underwater denizens from my domain were captured fair and square..." but his favor is still locked||
what should I do?
you can keep the fish with you instead of turning them in to the chef, then use his keepsake
eventually youll get the heart dialogue
so it is rng based? because I also have the requirement for getting ares quest completed but he still haven't give me the quest
thank you for answering it nonetheless
you need to have caught a fish before talking to him, so the easiest thing is to just keep the fish from a previous run
||Is there more story after i take god of venture home?||
if u mean ||persephone|| then yes
there's lots of different duo boons and weapons and aspects to make each run feel more unique
so u can try some new fun builds to keep it interesting
do guys use the death defiance card?
card?
like stuff on the door way before choosing a weapon
as the game gets harder, you can't not use death defiances
otherwise you will never get anywhere
#h2-story-discussion , please
I swear I pressed that
Question to see if I messed up - is there a point in raising your relationship with || Dusa || that will lock you completely out of the possibility of || getting a menage a toi (sp?) with Thanatos and Meg? ||
I thought I had raised my relationships with everyone kinda simultaneously but then hit a point where I can't give nectar or ambrosia to certain characters, but can give Ambrosia to others. I didn't think I'd "crossed the point of no return" because I havent given the ambrosia yet (that felt like a 'next step' move that would lock me in) and my dialogues with everyone didn't really give me the impression I was locked into a specific path in that regard
It's nothing I'm gonna restart a save point for but I wanted to try to adjust my nectar/ambrosia hoarding accordingly, but googling relationship stuff might spoil story points I haven't reached đŠ
youre not locked in, dont worry
theres no point of no return because you can give ambrosia to whever you want as much as you want
Am I stupid or does hades have a point? Havenât done 10th clear yet
-provides son with resources
-son doesnât do his chores and runs around breaking stuff
-son is at risk of starting a war with the olympians
-is an average authoritarian hardass dad
-doesnât seem abusive, just exacting
Hades isn't wrong in many respects, but giving Zagreus the cold shoulder for years and years kinda undermines a lot of it. Something something sans love resounding gong
Yeah, he's more worried about Cerberus than Zagreus. Is like if Hades didn't want three kids and no money, but no kids and three money.
the story is carefully set up such that you can see how their conflict developed on both sides, but Hades is definitely mega harsh sometimes. I'm a fairly sensitive person which def colors my perspective, but I'd argue there's at least a few things he says to Zag that, while not explicitly violent or profane, are super scathing and come off more as trying to get under his skin or get back at him than achieve anything constructive.
I think the fact that Nyx puts her foot down with Hades at least once(?) says a lot too re: how he can start to get too focused on results over everything else. Definitely not an evil guy or anything tho
Yeah I wouldn't call Hades abusive necessarily, but there's definitely an argument to be made that he's emotionally neglectful and not the best at actually encouraging or inspiring Zagreus
His approach often seems to be just "do this or you're bad," which is not exactly a very constructive way of going about it
And just immediately dismissing Zagreus' own views and preferences as naive or foolish
Yeah the question of him being abusive is complicated I think, and outside the scope of what I'd feel comfortable talking about myself so I'd have to duck out, but the game plays with a lot of dynamics and ideas that are going to be very familiar to a lot of people from/in toxic or abusive situations. There's a good breakdown of those somewhere on Tumblr but I don't know where it went sadly
Zag's need to escape is arguably just as much about Hades as it is wanting to find his mom, for example
how do i free Sisyphus from his punishment? its the only achievement ive yet to get besides Complete Set and Friends Forever
Talking to him and Hades enough i tihnk are two requirements thatn it just sometihng you buy
I'm willing to put it out there that Hades isn't abusive. At least, not purposely/maliciously abusive.
Abrasive and rude? Definitely. But he is NOT doing it out of malice. I donât even think heâs spiteful in the way you'd see from the standard abusive father figures you might see in other media.
He loves Zagreus, and wants his son to be better at his administrative work. He treated Persephone with immense love and respect- so much so he's pretty much the most unproblematic Greek God in non-Hades discourse. There's even a dialogue showing (late game spoilers) ||disdain for Zeus kidnapping her.|| between him and Zagreus.
I feel the major impacts of Hades' attitude (intentional or otherwise) against Zagreus was offset by Nyx's care and motherly support. That doesn't excuse his ineptitude as a father figure.
(As an aside, this is not an argument meant to defend or justify abusive behavior. Simply a perspective and my own thoughts on a character from a game I immensely enjoy. Abusers have a special place in Hades and will see no respect from me.)
I do feel like there's also an argument to be made that the whole debacle over Zagreus (initially) being stillborn and Persephone leaving from the grief probably left Hades with some severe doubts and mixed feelings
Like, he loves Zagreus, but the latter is also a perpetual reminder of what happened with Persephone
for sure, and the game even says as much at one point doesn't it? (I can't remember đ )
It's been a few years since I did the main story for Hades 1, but the vibe I kinda get from Hades is that he wasn't fully prepared, emotionally, to be a parent (not unwilling, just not fully prepared), much less in the circumstances that it happened in and those which came about as time went on. He's gruff and loves rules and order and everything being in its place at the time it's supposed to, and it seems to have been very personally challenging for him to adjust to the reality of what parenthood entails. Add on then, everything surrounding the situation, and whew.
(to be clear, I don't say this as any kind of knock on Hades - parenthood challenges literally everyone who goes through it and on top of that he and Zag have very different personalities, which is more what I'm referring to! ^_^ )
Hades definitely isn't a perfect person, but he had to deal with a lot of unfair stuff that understandably impacted him emotionally and that he can't be blamed for
He got stuck in the worst place on the planet, but the Underworld is cooler because of his renovations, doing paperwork all day while Zeus put a burden on him that could start a war
I can only imagine how bitter he feels knowing that he's stuck forever in the Underworld whereas the Olympian gods can go wherever they want, including the Underworld
They arent welcome. Hades wont let them in, except Hermes because of his work
But they can freely roam about if they want to if Hades allows them, e.g. the epilogue party
Whereas Hades literally can't go onto the surface world no matter how much 'permission' he gets from the Olympians
Hermes just proves my point
Does hades also have the problem of "taken by styx"? I thought it was just Zagereus.
he does! he just doesn't usually get on its bad side as much as Zag does haha
If you refer of the curse from the sister of fates yeah, Hades pretty much is trolled at this point by them
yep
And he saw the outside world beforehand, so it is kinda worse for him
legit got the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals
Doesn't the curse of Hades only directly refer to the spawn of Hades, rather than the guy himself?
@lost scaffold it refers to the people who were born in the realm , for ex Thanatos, in one of the encounters he mentions he cant stay out of the underworld much himself
Underworld realm really got the rawest ends of the deal in general
is the game playable at 45 fps?
Do you need to increase the heat to keep progressing in story?
Nope, it's just an optional challenge, though it will give a little bit of extra dialogue here and there
Thank you! I thought u need to icnreae the heat
No worries, have fun!!:D
Guys does the heats affect hades fps?
I donât think so
Nyx is as a mother to Meg, but not actual mother
Yes
Ok
how many times do i have to go through this game before meg starts letting me give her ambrosia
I was able to start that process around run #130
not a lot, you just have to bond with her and pray to dialogue rng
I was in the high 40s or low 50s when I gave her my first ambrosia
That's so quick
than and meg both had ambrosia in that range
Zagreus has unmatched charizzma
Theseus didnât try to kidnap Persephone in the game lore? Ainât no way Hades wouldâve let him off the hook that easily
I don't think so, if for no other reason than like you said, Theseus definitely wouldn't be in Eysium anymore đ
he'd probably be enjoying some nice quality time with the Furies instead
I wonder how much he'd annoy each of the Furies
oh man haha
"mmmmuuuurder!"
//stage voice "is that all you have to say to me!"
he would do so well in wrestling.
Absolute heel of a man
thats weird i gave her and than ambrosia on my 20th ish run
whats the sequal from one to two? i played one where is the connection i didnt get i t
did you mean the story connection between Hades 1 and Hades 2?
what do you have to do to get the epilogue ??
i've done hella runs and it's just not happening
Need to have Dem first talk about persephone a few times iirc, some dialogue with mom until the queen's plan prophecy shows up
After that you need to max your bond with 6 of the olympians
ohhhhmy goddddd
(dem counts as max once you reach the lock)
my poor nectar
After that more dialogue with Persephone until she mentions invitations, talk to each god once and soon after should be done
thank you thank you
If you have done the chaos-nyx quest you may need to talk to them too
good to know
i can just start a new save if I wanna experience the story again right?
been playing 2 and wanna play through the 1st story again
Yeah
Why does Dusa require so much more ambrosia
She's very physically active!
restocking the lounge
Mechanically, she just has more to say/more content to the finish of her relationship arch.
If anyone happens to have a clip of zagreus getting the job from Hades to be the security testing officer for the underworld and could link it to me it'd be appreciated. Searching Hades zagreus conversation gives me results for the entire game, not just between the two.

and now my penchant for typing multiple messages instead of writing one paragraph makes deleting them individually a pain XD
will the eldest sigil upgrade not appear unless i have the right amount of darkness? or did i miss smth... i just got the nyx convo abt it but it didnt appear at the contractor!
vhhsghghc the way logan summarizes hades makes him sound like my dad, apparently i have been playing this game because of daddy issues all alongđ„Č freud would be so proud
yall help me out here how do i unlock the beowulf shield
So one thing I wonder, was Charon born looking like that? Or did he get to into his work like his sister?
I think itâs pinned somewhere
Here
@molten finch
thank you!
what happened to that bot
this is a hades channel, not a hades II channel
try #h2-story-discussion
The bot lives in #h1-discussion
makes sense ig
Whoops, misread the tag. Sorry
Tisi?
Tisiphone
i think he was was wondering which sister they meant. tis isn't charon's sister though
afaik there is no dialog that mentions wether or not charon always looked liked that
If I were to go with a head canon (no lore support), it'd make sense to me that the Gods wouldn't be born the way they are now. They would've changed over time to suit their role.
Especially if I think of IRL mythology, and how certain gods can change over time
#h2-story-discussion (pls delete)
god this server reminds me of hardcore survival again...
omg so homer is the one that kicks off all of hades?
im so lost on how to free Sisyphus
I've maxed out my nectar bond with him
I've maxed out my ambrosia bonds with Meg, Nyx, and Hades
and yet for the past like 20 runs, nothing
and like i dont have much else left in terms of dialogue
i just dont get what im doing wrong
Rng issue most probably
Just gotta push through it sadly
and 2 of them will be completed once I free him
and the last one im almost done with
one must imagine Sisyphus a stubborn ass
yknow what? at this point, i think i should just not free him. out of spite.
Okay, so here's the question Hades 2 is released, and Im downloading it right now. I never got around to unveiling the plot of the gods by stuffing them all full of jelly. So what's the plot on that front?
They pull the "persephone ate pomegranate seeds so she's bound to the underworld" as a lie
Zag asks mom if the Olympians know it's a like and she goes "even if they know they won't find it worth it to discuss"
Was there a rebellion that I missed?
Nope
The epilogue was to prevent a war in case the truth on why persephone was gone was revealed
I got that far. But there was something I needed to do with sating the gods?
If you mean how to trigger the epilogue?
Max nectar with 6 of 8 olympians, bunch of talk with mom > invite all gods by talking to them
#h2-story-discussion
Delete the other one too
^_^ thanks for the help
How do I know if I'll trigger the 3some scene with Than and Meg? I've maxed out both relationships and saw their individual bed scenes and Meg has been the only one with a heart icon above her head sometimes đ
Like do they both need heart icons or I need to go to Zag's room before talking to them or???
itâs completely random, they will both be absent from the house but appear when you go into zags room
Zagreus: I mean, Dusa if you REALLLY don't want it then I guess I'll take it back
Me:
AMBROSIA!!!!
there's a threesome scene?!?!?
Just finished the epilogue! Nyx said something about inviting chaos, but I never got the chance to do thatâŠ
I love the way achilles and patroclus's quest ends and how you forge their bonds. Super sweet
also I think Zag himself might be one of my favorite protagonists ever
Heâs up there for me, heâs super relatable
#h2-story-discussion (please delete)
Can you delete this message?
????
Hades 2 spoilers
maybe we could get the bot telling people this isn't a hades 2 channel in here...?
Maybe even every Hades channel! I've been getting spoiled left and right
@full kindle if you wouldn't mind, could you sticky that message in all of the hades 1 channels
?stick This channel (and category) is for discussing the first Hades game. Please go to #h2-discussion to talk about Hades II.
?stickspeed 2min
Ty
I just learned what happens when you steal from Charon
never expected for the scratch disco sound
Same
Especially i just read song of achilles before all that so its even more wholesome for me,,,
A big thing i like as well is how the patroclus portrait changes
He looks so cool in all his glory
OH YEAH FRRRR
Have you seen him and achilles when u use their companion summon
TIL you get mocked for being killed by a tiny rat.
In my defense (?), I picked the wrong boon for the Stygian blade.
This game has everything.

That was my reaction as well
"oh a tiny ra- OMG!"
I can kill Asterius with closed eyes but a tiny Vermin?
Who wins?
[The son of a mortal and a God] - [A tiny half-dead rat]
I want to know how SGG playtesters (i.e. everyone at SGG) reacted when they heard the roar
I appreciate that Tony is just inexplicably, terrifyingly strong. No justification whatsoever
And how Greg Kasavin had to keep a straight face while saying "lol you got killed by a rat"
Literally us all + Zagreus đđđ
is the hades universe in a god of war type situation where each region/country of the world has the gods of the religion most people follow?
asking this because of aspect of Lucifer
One would assume so
Unless they're going to argue that all gods from other faiths/systems are 'below' that of the Greek gods
Well, if thats true, I can't wait for the Aspect of Allah.
I don't think they're willing to go quite that far
you dont say đ
Some of the hidden aspects are described as âfutureâ aspects, which means their wielders havenât come to take up the weapon yet.
What the game is saying with the presence of these aspects though is that there are other pantheons in the world of Hades that have or will come to be outside of Greece, but characters like the Fates have a hand in essentially all myths and faiths
i'm very confused how to do zeus' favor I started with his boon then got 5 others.. am I missing something?
But even then, each pantheon typically has their own 'Fate' equivalents, e.g. the Norns in Norse myth
So how would one resolve that
You need him to talk about wanting to reconnect with dad (+ dad's opinion) and each god's opinion on zeus
how do I do that .-. i'm very confused
Random mostly
Just take zeus boons then talk with the others and hope they give the right dialogue
is it 5 of the right dialogue in 1 run? or just 5 ever
In total
Tho idk if the game expects you to have hermes or dem talking about him?
Probably does
I feel like unlocking the epilogue is kinda hard :l
You could ignore him and do someone else's favor
You only need 6 out of 8
Start working on others and if zeus happens to unlock, neat
So ig I skip Demeter and Zeus
Demeter counts as one of the 6 when reaching the lock actually
They could also be the same entity
Cuz y'know, her favor is the epilogue
Wait a minuteâŠ
Entities*
So itâs really 5/8 then Demeter is the 6th?
Yeah
Oh thatâs less bad
What gods have you maxed?
Hermes Athena ares Dionysus and then Artemis should hopefully be soon ⊠her thing is taking so many runs
Can work on pos's while doing arty
Catch 18 fish then have at least one with you when talking to him
Iâm missing 1 fish I donât think I react fast enough for the rare thing to proc
"catch 25 fish including one rare and report to Poseidon"
In total and keep at least one with you
But the Fates are established to be Nyx's daughters
So one would have to conclude that Nyx's offspring became the 'fates' for every pantheon in existence
Iâve caught so many fish
Can the fish I bring him come from a past run
Like the 1
oh ok
It could also be that Chaos has offspring we just donât know about from other mythologies, and that heâs the progenitor of everything in all faiths
It does get a bit confusing tbh
Or that all the pantheons are entirely separate from each other from the start, and the weapon aspects are just 'aware' of heroes from other regions
Plenty of possible theories
Do any of the aspects represent anybody who exists outside our material universe? Or is everyone on Earth
I've always been a fan of the idea that Odin is actually Hermes
lucifer?
chaos?
Idk if it's spoiler, so I'll mark it as one. Question is about late game Thanatos.
|| Does anyone know if Thanatos has a line after you finish the game? I haven't seen him at all since the "true" ending, almost everything else is maxed out, most gods just give the repeatable lines at this point, and the house is chill except from Hades and mother. I've had like 30-40 runs since finishing the story, kept playing because I wanted to see Than again, but he didn't come. I know I haven't done all encounters with him yet, I fear that with finishing the story I've cut myself off from a scene I've been working hard towards. (He was the first I maxed nectars for, done the ambrosia as well, and had him show up to an important meeting once.)
If it helps, I've been running with butterfly+mort, I usually can ramp with butterfly to 20% damage boost. ||
Just bad luck
Also butterfly doesn't affect his spawn rate
I've read on Reddit that you have to take damage for him to come, but that seems weird to me. Is it real though? Because then I'll just start conceding some health at the start of each chamber and switch the keepsake for something else.
Hah, Reddit! They've a "You can find Mew under the truck!" playground energy
Thanks. I had a hunch but had to ask. Then I guess I'll just continue to fulfill my duty and try to escape.
There comes a time with any project where you have to be like "do I actually want to make an entire music video, or do I just wish an entire music video existed", and sometimes you realize it's the latter and it's best to simply cut the project short. Anyway here's this.
Fandom: Hades
Song: Glitter & Gold by Barnes Courtney

It really was just that, played some more and he showed up, and did it every third-fourth run since then. Feels like he had some scripted downtime after game completeion, as if he would've been busy working on surface stuff.
i gave Hypnos all my nectars and ambrosia only for this guy to call me his best friend
ive been pining after this silly sleep god for ages only to find out he's not romaceble sob
got friend zoned by hypnos im going to cry
I FELT THAT.
The boy has a crush on Meg though!
Follow the bot
I didnât know even realise, sry.
TIL Zaggy called the Hydra "Lernie". I wonder if he had called Cerberus with pet names too lol
Have you considered sulking in the lounge
I can't believe this myth is still going around
i have, multiple times, to be exact đđ
It was sketchy enough that I cougth wind it's probably false, but nevertheless: what once gets out, will just spread since it's the internet. Also I was looking for a dev to say "no, why would we do something like that" but didn't find it, so that might be a reason why it's still out there.
I have a question, who is the face in aspect of zeus shield?
honestly no clue
Hi all, just a quick note that I am updating the channel names here & in the Hades II category, you'll start to see those rolling out shortly. There are no other changes beyond the channel names being updated. đ
Asked a friend who's a classicist and big into Hades, and they say it's very likely a take on a gorgon head, as Aegis was carried by Zeus before he gave it to athena
Yepp, it should be Medusa's head on the shield
supergiant could have just let zagreus tend to the garden in peace but they decided to have the narrator choose violence lol
@inner warren The whole 'pomegranate forces you to remain in the underworld' thing is a ruse by Persephone to convince the gods to allow her to come back to the underworld every now and then; it doesn't actually have that power
Zagreus being unable to leave the Underworld is because of his heritage, not whatever he ate
