I wish Hypnos was explored as a character more, he had so much potential

His personality and treatment by the rest of the House actually mirrors Zagreus' a lot, what with how they were both disliked for being out of place/"abandoning" their role

And the fact that he was the one to send the whole House to sleep For Zagreus goes almost completely unrecognized when it's a really interesting bit of lore! What happened afterwards? Why did Hypnos do it?

Another interesting bit about Hypnos is that when a lot of others in the House were hostile towards Zagreus, Hypnos was still decisively his friend! Like, unlike folks like Thanatos or Megaera (who were really hurt that Zagreus wanted to leave them), Hypnos actually wanted Zag to succeed from the very beginning, much like Achilles or Nyx

There’s also the parallel of Zagreus wanting his mother and getting Persephone back to the House, and Hypnos and Nyx not having the best relationship

Or the fact that Thanatos takes time out of his job to help Zagreus escape the House (thereby avoiding his responsibilities), but dislikes spending time with Hypnos for similar reasons

There’s an inside joke where Hypnos is Hades’ favorite child as a funny contrast to Zag being Nyx’s favourite, what with vice versa being rather tense relationships

literally everyone knows greek myth hosts a myriad of incestuous relations, that is simply the nature of creation myths as a whole and isnt unique to greek mythos, as much as greek specifically is the sole one to frequently get pointed out for it. but as meow pointed out, supergiant made a deliberate attempt to make those facets not quite as egregious as in myth. you can't remove them without rewriting myth entirely but supergiant didnt really go into it any more than was necessary for the sake of the story and tries to skirt around it where applicable

Something interesting: I was on my second save file and got to the bit where ||Nyx forbids Dusa to speak to Zag|| (idk whether spoilers are ok so just to be safe…) and I just thought it was a bit odd that || I could still initiate conversation for the other (Achilles, Orpheus, and giving ambrosia as part of the romance) storylines with Dusa despite her specific plot making sure she’d try to avoid Zag otherwise|| and I wondered if anyone else got that too - just made my playthrough this time feel slightly wonky

Nah I triggered that storyline, she ran off, then a couple runs after that I managed to give her ambrosia, talk about Achilles the next run, etc, and then it resumed with her back to running away another run after that

Makes sense (my game wouldn’t load correctly a couple times and I had a couple repeated dialogues - something to do with having an online save file and local one at the same time so that was possibly a worry)

just keep on doing escapes until she says something to you that unlocks the heart

it can only trigger in the first dialogue of the run iirc, so maybe you can take the keepsake, see what she says on first thing, die (do NOT give up, it doesn't save progress) then try again ?

Hey, I’m new. I’ve been playing for a bit over a month. I’ve gotten to end credits but not the epilogue, and I haven’t maxed out any of the characters relevant to this, but I’ve been pondering if Orpheus might have been responsible for Zag being stillborn. Allegedly after failing to bring Eurydice back he played a song so sad (ie “Lament of Orpheus”) that it would cause miscarriages, and he was murdered because of it. Could he have performed it near the pregnant Persephone? Anything to confirm or refute this?

So for maximal completeness, ||make sure you invite all the Olympians and Chaos to the party||.
