If you're going for the run clear message, you can take any boons, but on your victory screen, you may only have Chaos Boons and any other boons that are unpurgeable (e.g., Rare Crop).

But if you have any boons on your victory screen, that's fine if you didn't use them during your run. Hammer upgrades are fine.

That's actually my favorite, although you have to max it to get a significant benefit
If you become comfortable with the fists you'll find they clear rooms quickly so you can also get a good dodge boost with the lambent plume on top of that
And since dash striking is pretty fundamental to using the fists you can also try reckless reflex.
Aspect of Zagreus + reckless reflex + max rank Patroclus keepsake could also be an interesting combo, haven't tried it.

You can think of rarity as almost a “base” Pom amount, the line from which additional poms will start scaling. Rarity itself is something like a function of common+x amount of Pom levels to arrive at a starting value iirc

The first pom can sometimes be more valuable than a rarity increase, but rarity is almost always better than any poms after the first. If it's between rarity and pom for a single boon, rarity is almost always the right choice because you can still pick up poms after that. Rarity increases are much rarer.

arthur..... i don't want to call it clunky. clunky is the wrong word. but watching top level arthur play is like watching qwop sometimes. there's a movement rythm that's important to arthur that looks extremely herky-jerky on the surface
but it's important to learn a little at least
mainly it's dissociating your dashes from your attack and special and playing with the timing of how those two happen a lot
you'll see good arthur players very commonly winding up their swing before they dash and then that's their dash attack. same thing for special. You play around a lot with the timing of your inputs to make arthur move around well, and it looks very odd on the surface

No, it's just chance.
But filling your Attack, Special, Cast, and Dash slots will help.
Ideally with boons that don't unlock other Duo Boons with Lady Athena or Lord Ares.

@turbid needle the only way you could "fix" the Dash-Upper/Flying Cutter interaction without taking away the ability to do a normal Dash-Upper would be to add a window on Dash-Upper startup frames that will cancel the Dash-Upper into a Flying Cutter if you hold down the Special button or not cancel if you release the button quickly.
And I don't know if you would want that.
A lot of players already have some difficulty with Dash-Upper inputs as it is.

I start with Heartbreak Flourish into Lightning Strike + Zeus' Aid and Smoldering Air.
Hunter Dash and Support Fire are great, too, if you can get them.
Tidal Dash and Divine Dash can also do some work.
You can also pick up Curse of Agony instead of Lightning Strike and get Curse of Longing. That can do a lot of work.

Right now, I'd put Kinetic Launcher at #1 and Explosive Upper at #2. You want either one but not both. After that, it's Breaching Cross > all.
But at high heat, I would probably lean towards Breaching Cross > those two Special hammers > all.
