Heyo--you unfortunately may need to restart the game for the controller to reconnect. Depending on where you left off, there may be a "quit" option to save and quit. If there isn't, there's still a way to continue where you left off, which I can walk you through.

Hey! I wanted to ask for some help with an issue. Well, i don't know if it is an issue or not but it doesn't always happen so i'll take it as an issue. Whenever i attack with any weapon but the shield, sometimes the character doesn't stay still and keeps sliding, while also attacking, in the direction i was moving before attacking. With the shield this always happen. I haven't seen anyone saying anything about this on the internet so i thought you could help me.

Hey guys! I encountered a game breaking bug and I'm not sure what to do now. I played a run and after finishing the 1st room my game crashed. It crashed while I was entering room number 2 tho so it got me stuck in a weird limbo between the two. Every time I load the save I'm stuck in the 1st room, receive the fruit reward thingy but it gives me 380 gold instead of upgrades because i don't have any boons and the door to room 2 is locked. I can attack but every time i do a message pops up saying "no fighting in the house" as if i was still back home. no matter how many time i tried reloading the save nothing really fixes it and i don't want to lose all of my progress.

has anyone ever encountered this glitch and is there any way to fix it?

Hi, I'm just here temporarily for a support question! I put a discussion up on Steam but didn't realize there was a discord.
Sorry if this has been answered before, but I'm copying over what I said (condensed):

I synced my Nintendo Switch account with Steam very briefly, but I wanted to disconnect them to keep the save files separate
Now whenever I play the game, it has the symbol for autosaving when playing, but when I go to the main menu all my data is overwritten by the cloud save that I don't want anymore. Would I have to fiddle with options in the Steam client? Or is there something in the game files I've messed up due to disconnecting my Switch account from Steam?

Heyo—I'm not totally sure how disconnecting the accounts works, but a potential workaround is moving your PC save to a different slot, so that they're not overwriting each other.

You may also want to try restarting the game on the Switch, and/or fully restarting your Switch, as that might help

Hello, I'm having some trouble with my saves; my cloud save is apparently overwritten instead of being downloaded to my old laptop.

In detail;
I have a laptop and a pc I play hades from. I played hades on laptop roughly 6 months ago, and then I transferred the save to my pc via cloud saves. Today, I tried to launch hades from my laptop, and instead of syncing the save with my pc, the hades on my laptop launched with a 6 month old save, and then proceeded to save that old save to cloud. Now I can't access the new save I had on my pc, and even if I remove the save file I have on laptop, the cloud syncs me up with saves from 6 months ago.

I'd appreciate if I could get some help here to help me restore my cloud save.

Heyo--there are a couple things you'll need to do, but it should be relatively straightforward. Feel free to let me know if you need any extra help with any of this, or if something doesn't work as expected ^.^

First, follow the steps towards the end of #h1-tech-fixes on your PC to recover your save progress--it should be your most recent ProfileX.sav.bak file.

Then, you'll want to follow the first 2 steps in #h1-tech-fixes under If the Game Won't Start or Read/Write Save Data on your Laptop, and/or restart Steam as Admin

I got Hades yesterday and some voice lines are not playing - e.g. Athena's, Nyx's, and Hypnos's intro voice lines didn't play for me. Most voice lines do play, incl. the voice lines right after such as with Nyx. I looked this up in the server and tried verifying game files, pausing and unpausing, and restarting/letting my computer rest as suggested, but I booted up the game today and it happened again (this time with Ares). Is this a known bug that I missed and/or is there anything else I can try to fix it? All other audio is working fine. Thank you!

hello, im getting this error, it happened yesterday with appmanifest_1145360.acf. I fixed it by deleting the acf file and all good. but i can't seem to delete the fonts folder. I uninstalled and reinstalled yet the same thing happened. It only happens with hades tho no other game i have installed is going through the same thing

There's may not be a huge visual difference (I just don't know). To my knowledge the game's effects are pre-rendered, and I don't think DSR would affect that very much

Alright--in order to fully delete a save, you'll need to do so manually while the game is open (this is effectively a safeguard against accidentally losing progress).

To do so, delete the Profile2.sav file in Documents / Saved Games / Hades while the game is open, then close the game. (you can also delete the rest of the Profile2 files, as they won't be needed)

Hades doesn't have Cross-play, it only has Cross-save, so you'd need to purchase the game on the PC through Steam or Epic in order to play on the PC.

right now, different duos have different orderings for the same set of requirements which can make it confusing. For example, looking at Heart Rend, Artemis' reqs is strike/flourish/shot, but Aphrodite is dash/shot/strike/flourish. and Then going to Cold Embrace, her reqs are now strike/dash/flourish/aid

A couple of months ago I've played about 100 hours of Hades with no issues whatsoever, then I took a break. Now I'm back, and I'm having a weird issue when my framerate gets a flat 47FPS lock every 10 minutes or so of gameplay, for a couple of minutes, then comes back to 144. Latest version in Steam, latest GPU drivers, tried verifying game files, disabling and enabling vsync in Nvidia control panel.
Hardware is not an issue (R5 5600x, RTX 3080, 32GB of ram).
Any ideas?

I tried with both v-sync on and off, on DirectX it has no affect for me (fps still locked to 142 by default). On Vulcan v-sync on (weirdly) unlocks the fps all the way to 600 and with off it stays 142. I played a bit more with Borderless instead of Fullscreen and I haven't encountered the problem since (for now atleast) , so maybe that's a possible fix.

If you've turned off V-Sync in both the game and in your driver, your FPS should be unlocked.

Borderless sounds like it's most likely the fix—that tends to be one of the solutions to inconsistent FPS, in my experience. Feel free to ping me if you start getting the drops again

hi guys, i know this is probably a very common problem, but i've tried many different solutions offered online from what i've found and nothing can really fix the issue for me. it's gotten to the point where i'm wondering if i need to do a fresh windows install to really just reset everything back to normal.

so when my computer idles for an hour or two, for some reason, Hades is unable to connect with the controller and any input is not detected. i know the computer is detecting it, because i can navigate steam big picture mode np with it, but as soon as the game turns on, it doesn't work. and sometimes even restarting my computer doesn't fix the issue.

when i found that USB ports could be "put to sleep" i thought i found the thing that would fix my issue, but even after unchecking that the issue would persist

Alright—you could try joining the Steam Client Beta. It has a fix for a cloud sync issue that isn't on the main client yet. You may still need to manually copy the files (without opening the game on your other computer), since it's possible that your current computer overwrote the cloud saves, but switching to the beta may be enough

It might be just bad luck. Are you using Fated Persuasion to change the choices of the Well? This should increase your chances of getting it. I'd check the cables - maybe they're not connected properly or damaged (visibly or not). You can try using a different cable that you know works properly to see if that's the issue. If not, maybe it's the TV itself - something's wrong with it or its overheating or something.

I'd also do a Google search for this exact TV model you have to see if someone else has similar issue and possibly a fix.

tl;dr: steam cross-save overwrote my progress on switch. hoping I can get it back because I had literally JUST escaped for the first time last night, and now it's as if I hadn't reached that major milestone.

Long version: I have Hades on Switch, and my husband has it on PC. I have the cross-saves enabled on switch and they link to his steam account because I tried the game out first on his PC for a few runs before buying it for switch. Since then I've played 100% on Switch and he 100% on PC... until yesterday.

Yesterday morning he pulled his save slot up on my Switch for the first time. He didn't play again until this morning on the PC, where he was prompted to sync his save. In the meantime, late last night I played it on my switch -- on my save slot -- and for the first time made it all the way out to the surface. Briefly looked at the red gate details and decided it was too much and saved and quit.

I didn't play it again until tonight, and when I opened it up on my switch the gate was pink again. Sure enough I didn't have the titan blood or darkness that I had earned, and the prophecy was marked not complete. I KNOW I wasn't dreaming that I completed it because I recorded it to show my husband later (I was super excited). I could have swore it was run 85, and now it shows I've only completed 83.

So long story short, is there any way to get that save back?? Literally any other run it wouldn't be a big deal and I'd cut my losses, but this changed the game in a big way and I'm embarrasingly heartbroken.

Heyo! I'm super sorry to hear about this. There's a possibility you can recover it using the files here (https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=1145360) and the steps at the end of #h1-tech-fixes .

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to directly access the files on the Switch, which makes recovering progress harder.

The clock change is definitely a potential culprit, since the Steam Cloud uses file timestamps to judge which save is the most up to date.

If the above steps for recovering your save don't work, I could potentially manually get you back to that point by running it myself. I know that wouldn't be the same as have it show your own progress, but it would get you back to roughly the same point.

Latest Switch patch was July 7th. The version number in-game should be 1.38130, and the only changes that will be on PC that aren't on Switch yet are the changes listed in #hades-patch-notes from this most recent patch, since that's the only patch we've done since Switch got caught up.

Aight. Most likely, the game failed to save, due to either an antivirus software or Windows Controlled Folder Access/Windows Defender. You'll need to whitelist Hades with whichever of those is active. Alternatively, you can try launching Steam as Admin.

With regards to the progress, I'm sorry to say it's almost definitely lost, since the folder doesn't have any saves. However, the devs have put together some pre-made saves to help people who've lost progress, and I can get one of those for you if you'd like.

Alright--what I think happened is when you save/quit mid-run, "giving up" can send you back to that point instead of sending you back to the House of Hades like it's supposed to.

Most likely, the only way to return to the House of Hades would be loading one of the .sav.bak files if you have any, intentionally dying, or finishing the run.

If you look under the keepsake there's a 1, that means you haven't used the guaranteed ares boon yet

hello, would like to get some help regarding connection of controller. i know that is was discuss multiple times and there has been solution that works for most, but i've tried them can still couldn't.

i'm playing hades on steam with a steam controller running on mac OS big sur. the controller is working on big picture and when the game is launch, it could be used to access steam overlay, but all other button dont seem to work. it was working when i started playing hades a few days ago but yesterday it stop working.

i've tried the solution recommended :

Hello! I've been playing Hades w/ offline Steam for a bit (vacation) and when I went back online today, not all of the achievements I earned while offline were unlocked. For example, the "Day-and-Night Trader" and "Arms Collector" achievements unlocked on startup, but the "Is There No Escape" and "River Denizens" ones did not. Is there a reason these aren't unlocking?

I've been playing on computer X.
Then I was on holidays at grandparents' house and playing on computer Y.
I enabled cloud save on both of them. When I returned and launched Hades on the computer X the game didn't ask me to choose between local and cloud save. It looks like it couldn't download cloud save (although it says that saves are synchronized) or uploaded outdated saves to the cloud. Both computers were connected to internet all the time and computer Y didn't have problems with uploading save files.
So is there any way to check if the saves are there or do I need to wait untill x-mas and transfer the files manually via pendrive?

I submitted a bug report for this, but wanted to share the other stuff I'm seeing. I unlocked Excalibur, but everytime I go to bring up the screen where I spend titan blood, I get the flash from unlocking Excalibur. Also I took Excalibur to the surface, but didn't get the achievement.

Is there something I can do to fix it, or am I going to start over? is this going to break the story in general?

I'd try verifying the game files integrity. It shouldn't break the main story, as unlocking the hidden aspects is not needed to reach the ending and epilogue afaik.

Do the run with Arthur Aspect and see if the prophecy triggers (just do 1-2 chambers to see if anything happens). You can also reinstall the game completely and have a look in #h1-tech-fixes for potential fixes for the "funky" stuff you mentioned. If nothing helps and you're on Windows, you can press F10 while in-game to send a bug report for the devs to investigate your save and the issue you're having.

Charged Shot comes from Bull Rush which doesn't lock on enemies either, so I believe this is intended. I wouldn't say it's hard to aim though, and I'm playing with controller - it just takes some time to get used to. It's better this way, as you can choose the direction in which you're blocking the attack, whilst if it was lockable on the nearest enemy, the lock-on might've jumped to an enemy that's behind you but not attacking at this moment, leaving you exposed to other attacks.

Just downloaded the game through steam, if I try to disable the "transmit data" option in the settings, the game crashes. changing any other settings seems to work fine

umm... so when you have the pact of punishment timer, and it runs out at a boss fight, and then you defeat the boss, there is a 50/50 chance that the boss' rewards won't appear, and then you will have to quit and re-enter the chamber

I recently found (finally) a usa physical version and I use a eu switch, and for some reason the cloud saving doesn't work

the linking part goes well, but when I hit "play" and the sync start, it just says failed and to check the connection

I'd start with making a backup copy of saves on PC just in case. Then I'd check if the date & time are synced between devices (Switch and PC). Also, have you looked at Help & Info on Switch in Cross-saves section in the game's Main Menu, as there might be some troubleshooting steps as well, iirc?

If the game didn't save, then you won't be able to recover your progress. But the fix I said to look at should (hopefully) prevent that from happening again.

Most likely, you need to whitelist the game with your antivirus and/or Windows Controlled Folder Access. You can also try running the game as Admin.

As Nyaanyaa said, this won't recover the progress from those four hours, but will hopefully ensure that the game saves correctly in the future.

Hey so i was having the issue with dual monitors and the game would launch in the second one no matter what fixes i found here: launch options, deleting some game files, etc but nothing worked. However I found a fix worth mentioning:

I ended up deleting and reinstalling the display drivers.

• open device manager
• go to monitors
• right click on each driver and select uninstall device
• once you have deleted all of them the monitor option might disappear
• right click on your computer (whatever name your computer has its the first option in the list)
• select scan for hardware changes (by doing this windows will reinstall the hardware drivers)

I'm trying to purchase and play the game for the first time, but I keep getting an error stating that data cannot be loaded.
I had no choice but to completely delete the Documents\Saved Games\Hades folder and completely delete and reinstall the game

But I still get the same error.
The Documents\Saved Games\Hades folder is also not created, so I tried to create the folder manually, but it doesn't work.

Checking Hades Technical Support FAQ and excluding folders and exe files from Windows Defender does not solve the problem.
Disabling the read-only option of the Saved Games folder does not solve the problem.

After several attempts, I created Documents\Saved Games\Hades and the subfiles seemed to be created as well, but another error occurred.

The profile file is not created even if I continuously start the game anew.

The progress should have been saved, but I'm getting an error saying it couldn't be saved because of an error.

What do I have to do to play this game?

If all else fails you can also use the launch command /alternatesavemount which will change which folder the game saves to but will deactivate cloud saving.

· In the pop-up menu, look for the field with the heading 'LAUNCH OPTIONS'

On Epic Games Store:
· Select 'Settings'
· Scroll down to Hades under 'Manage Games' and select it

It's launching, I can hear the music, but I still just see my desktop? I've tried selecting it in the bottom, switching to another program and back. Restarting it, and the pc itself.

That's interesting.
I did get 'get updates' 15 minutes ago and found none for Hades, but now I just navigated to the Microsoft Store version of Hades and it says 'Update' but clicking it starts a downloading progress bar and then reverts to the Update button.

Hades was running, closed it, now I have a 152.5mb update for it downloading @Swan, promising.

Unfortunately, the same issue is persisting.

Two things--are you renaming the files while the game is open, or closing the game in between? And make sure to rename the existing file first, then the temp file (so that they end up with the correct names)

Just close and open the Play menu to reload the changes

@severe drum Could you try this: Go to Display Options and set to windowed mode, move the window around a bit (basically change its position) and then go back to Main menu so it saves your new window settings. Then quit and restart the game and see if the window shows up or not

@severe drum One more thing to try after that, if above doesn't work: Right click on your desktop and go to "Display Settings" Change Layout size to 100% of your screen resolution and see if that helps
