I was also going to recommend spear for newer players.
You can be doing fine and then suddenly take buckets of damage without really realising when you're learning the game, as in when you don't realise which are the really dangerous situations.
Most of my first few successful runs involved switching to spearpoint in styx (also with lots of minotaur).
I can see how it becomes useless once you are able to defend yourself against most attacks, and single hits become more devastating.

The game is done getting updates and the story is also very polished which makes it tough to add more things, however some people in the modding community are working on a mod to add Apollo since some of the assets are available, just never made it into the game

You're not getting good results with the Rail because you're using the wrong boons with it, it's not how it's meant to do good damage, it's good to try out multiple things before judging the weapons, not everything is as intuitive as it can sound sometimes

Should be an experience thing where you’re comfortable on when you tend to lose health and need to be topped off. I’ll always try to go for boons if it improves the build since there’s many opportunities to heal (darkness if you have Dark Regeneration from the mirror, Companion if you have Shady, wells can offer a cheap coin-health exchange, etc), but I’ll definitely try and top off before the Elysium boss. I still know I lose a little health during that fight with most weapons.

A bad lag spike made me lose all my lives vs Hades and lost my 9 won strike... But I optimised Hades and now I can run it at 60fps! :D

i’ve played sts a fair amount and not too much of isaac but i think you are discrediting hades a little harshly, i could equally as well claim sts and isaac are just rng

hades is really different from other roguelikes, where most of them bring variety using rng in the run, hades gets nearly all of its variety from what you choose outside the run
if you want you.can have runs that are incredibly similar again and again and again, or you could choose to have runs that are as different from each other as they can be
