I was also intimidated at first, but you just keep getting better in this game and the mirror helps. just get those rare/epic boons % up in the mirror. and learn to dodge more. I am enjoying this immensely just won a spear run last night and it was only the 2nd or 3rd try on that weapon. went with extreme measures that was fun. I wanted to go for specific build using god trinkets but was unlucky, couldn't get hunting blades. Still won though which is insane. I just loved that triple jab extension from daedalus for the base attack, had athena deflect on it and an athena dash. Athena deflects are just too good, makes enemies with projectiles basically a joke. Artemis aid was the finisher. For last boss, make sure you have at least 2 death defiances left. And practice it, eventually you will be get hit less. Use acorn trinket.

I've used the shield a few times, and while I can get through the game with it (0 heat, since I'm just farming darkness), I still don't feel comfy with it (base shield, that is. None of the fancy aspects). I still feel that I'm not properly chaining specials, charges and base attacks. Any tips on that?

Don’t use special at all

It’s awful on shield

Just never worth using

Utilize bull rush a lot

Blocking is a broken mechanic

And bull rush has full invulnerability while you’re rushing forward

I'm just not sure when to use the charge or replace it with a dash

I mean, with a dash, you just dash -> dash strike -> wail on'em. The advantage I see is the charge hitting multiple enemies that are in a row.

dash has small range, when you compare it to the range of bull rush. as a relatively new player, i find the bull rush and the attack from the shield in general very clunky, but its probably just my idea. I understand the theory behind it and how broken it must be its just hard to take in, as a gameplay mechanic. whats amazing with this game, is that even when a weapon feels bad, like the spear used to seem to me, its always my idea and nothing more. you just need more practice / maybe better daedalus upgrades that fit your playstyle and the right boons, to get any kind of weapon or build to the next level, and then you enjoy it immensely. Game nods on you in all the right ways to keep experimenting and discovering new busty builds.

i completed 3 runs, so it permits me fine to do anything with heat and get higher bounties even without having done full runs on some weapons. but that titan blood from hades heat 0, i never got that in many weapons. if its not lost its all good. i just want to be able to go back to lower difficulty when i want, to at least get those rewards, then all is fine.
