If you want to do a Cast build, use a Cast aspect. If you're asking what Casts synergize with Zeus Aspect, that depends on what you're starting with. Thunder Flourish start, for example, goes very well with picking up Trippy Shot or Phalanx Shot to unlock Scintillating Feast or Lightning Phalanx.

For mirror, the most important stuff is DDs (for low heat, SD for 32+), Dark Foresight, and Greater Reflex (unless it’s Gilgamesh or a shield that you have a ton of practice with)

- Shadow and Fiery presence are both good for different weapons
- I prefer chthonic but it doesn’t really matter at all
- Death defiance is much better at low heat, but once you get to 32+ heat I suggest using lasting consequences 4 (pact condition: no healing for 4 heat. Seems more brutal than it is) in combination with Stubborn Defiance.
- Greater Reflex is better for everything except maybe some shields and definitely Gilgamesh (hidden fists)
- Boiling blood is better unless ~80%+ of your damage comes from a lodging cast (such as Hera or Poseidon aspect builds), in that case you might want Abyssal but Boiling is still always safe and good
- Infernal soul is generally better but Stygian absolutely has it’s uses. Knowing when to use it comes with experience, so if you’re not sure then just use infernal.
- Deep pockets is always correct unless you’re doing some weird gold farming run
- Thick skin is better, except High Confidence is great for speedruns (not high heat though)
- Family Favorite should be your default, but some builds are better with PStatus. A lot of less experienced players really overrate PStatus and end up taking bad statuses just to fulfill it. Just get your ~25% from FF and don’t worry about getting 2 statuses unless your build is planning on doing that anyway
- Dark Foresight is 100% of the time the best option, and also the second or third best thing on the mirror. Don’t ever underrate how truly insane DF actually is
- God’s Pride is standard but keep in mind that Legacy will pretty much double the odds of a duo or legendary showing up (you still need the prerequisites though) so if your build is looking for more than one, or needs one to function, then consider God’s Legacy.
- Fated Persuasion is basically always better than Authority

I've been starting with Athena's keepsake, trying to get diving strike or flourish, and dash deflect, and then in the second biome I switch to ares to try and get the curse of agony/pain to try and proc a merciful end boon later on. Is this a good method?
