he cant do a good chunk of his attacks effectively if you're constantly moving, but it's better to move to his sides when he attacks, and dash a lot

My advice for Hades is to save your dashes for dodging his attacks. He clearly telegraphs each one (even on FO2 I promise), and if you have dashes left over then it shouldn’t be too hard to avoid them. Be patient with your dashes, they are a very important tool in the fight

Well, then you have to learn to do two things, imo:
- Learn to dodge each attack consistently. It sounds like you were damage-tanking a little bit. If you can learn to dodge each attack consistently, then it won’t matter if your damage is low because you will be able to not get hit. That sounds simple, obvious, and not very helpful, but it really just comes down to using your dashes as a resource. It’s easy to dash aggressively for dash-strikes or dash-triggered damage boons such as tidal dash, but for this fight it’s a lot better to specifically focus on using your dashes to avoid his attacks. Even if you’re inside of his giant spin, you can i-frame through it unscathed if you dash at the right time.
- Learn to work better with worse RNG. If you know the available boons well (or you check your codex often, which I would advise if you’re not familiar with all of each God’s boons and the prerequisites for them), you can often still end up with a pretty strong build. All you really need is a great attack/special boon (best option varies from weapon to weapon, I can give you advice on specific weapons), and a few support boons, plus maybe a decent-good hammer. Beyond that, you may just want to prioritize survivability by taking things like hearts or defensive boons like Different League or Divine Dash.
This was pretty jumbled and not super well written, so I’m sorry about that. I hope you can find it a little bit helpful, let me know if it comes off as condescending or if you need more help with other things.

For phase 1 if you're in melee range, strafing Hades will always make the thrust whiff. So you only need to tell apart the spin from the skull Cast and time your dash accordingly.
If you have two dashes and you're in melee range, the timing to evade the thrust and the skull cast is the same (dash to the side or towards him, not away), and then if you see it's the spin instead, you just time your second dash to i-frame the spin.
