That is a reasonable choice as well just give him some nectar and you get a very nice defensive keepsake that makes it easier to handle Styx because you have more time to cure your poisoning and less risk of massive quick damage.

The line on the mirror under Thick Skin gives you a significant damage boost if you don't have it unlocked I would focus on getting the keys to unlock it, (trade gemstones for keys to speed up the process if necessary).
