Hera and Beowulf can load Casts while charging their Attack, and in Beowulf's case even mid-rush. That's a lot easier to do with Cast on a shoulder button.
I always set Cast to LB/L1 for those two aspects, and similarly, reload to LB/L1 for the rail.

So, re PS vs FF: I think there's a time factor involved. There's a lot of positive feedback the game gives you with PS - the icon is fun, the big numbers are fun etc. I'll also say I ran, happily, PS for a good long while. Once speed became a major factor for me though, I switched entirely to FF for a fairly simple reason: most of the time, I want enemies dead and rooms clear long before PS can really shine.

I personally find relentless esp on Chiron to be two-edged. It can be extremely easy to be caught in the longer animation while longspears jump up and down on your head from offscreen.

Tidal Dash > Tempest Flourish > Sea Storm would be optimal. With either Electric Shot or Zeus' Aid to unlock Sea Storm, ideally Zeus' Aid.
