@pallid notch Yarn of Ariadne and Refreshing Nectar each give you +10% chance for a Duo/Legendary (this is per slot, so you can potentially have three chances for a Duo/Legendary per boon screen), a better chance for Epic boons, and if that fails, guarantee at least Rare boons.

If you have Exclusive Access already, you only get the +10% chance for Duo/Legendary since all your boons will be at least Epic anyway.

Yarn is always used up on the next boon you pick up.

Unless you also have Refreshing Nectar, in which case whichever item you picked up first will be used up first.

(1) First boon offer on a run, fill all three slots with priority boons (i.e., Attack, Special, Cast, or Dash),
(2) if an exchange is possible, 10% chance to add an exchange to one free slot,
(2) if 2 fails and there are free priority slots, add one priority boon to one slot,
(3) 50% chance to add a tier 2 status curse (Jolted, Marked, Rupture, Exposed) to one slot if boon requirements are met,
(4) roll for legendary for each remaining slot,
(5) roll for epic for each remaining slot,
(6) roll for rare for each remaining slot,
(7) fill all remaining slots with common,
(8) fill all remaining slots with exchanges.

That's how the game rolls for boons whenever you pick up one.

God's Legacy, Yarn of Ariadne, Refreshing Nectar, god keepsakes, and the Favor boon from Master Chaos each give +10% for step 4 (legendary includes duo boons) for each slot. Yarn of Ariadne and Refreshing Nectar's bonuses don't stack, they're used up one after another, but all the other ones stack.

Exclusive Access guarantees Epic rolls in step 5.

Like if I have drunken strike and then get an ares boon door, is there a chance their duo boon appears in that door? Or do I have to get both first and then get another?

My best run was getting to the third boss battle and then getting trashed in a minute.

I did get stuck for a while there, but you'll get past them as you learn to fight them.
Also, those 150 hours were spread throughout 6 months. So don't rush it. Take breaks when you feel the need
