I found this has helped me.
Apart from if the bob goes under at the very beginning, the bob will go under about 2 seconds after it bobs around in the water.

2 might be a stretch, I recommend you time it

But that is always true.

If there is a large gap of time after the bait bobs around in the water, then the next time it will never go in the water

The timing between the bait bobbing around and going in is always very short

I prefer Golden Touch, you only get 100 gold with deep pockets which isn't much while you can get more than that with Golden Touch.

Deep Pockets is better for new players I'd say.
