The times your dash boon makes a big impact are: Athena always, any dash that will apply a status effect if you are running privileged status from the mirror, artemis dash if your main damage is dash-attack, ares dash if you're heavily invested in a ares-cast/blade rift build, and then maybe demeter dash for the chill effect

@true tiger Then wait for the final built. Hades is an amazing game but somehow limited in how you can play. For now, there are only 4 biomes, hence once you unlocked and tried all combinations of boons and weapons, the novelty is off. Yet, if you are a completionist or a competitive player, you will have lots to do. Some quests are based on specific actions and a numbers of runs done and once the game offers a vast range of challenges which increases the difficulty in many ways.

I mean, a run, if you do well and beat the final boss, takes 35 mins, but you start again. I mean, I've seen a lot of story, complete 10 times, have about 102 attempts, average at about 26 mins per run so I've done about 44 hours
(when you get better, a run to beat final boss will be about 20 mins)
Oh yeah, the guy below reminded me, you need to upgrade youself, so you won't win first try. It will be about 30-40 runs before you get to end boss, and probably another 10-20 runs before you beat it

@true tiger There are only four biomes for now. You can finish the game as beat the final boss (as it is now) under 10 hours if you are an average player and do not spend time collecting things around. Even when you have beaten the final boss, you won't have unlocked all the weapon and tried all the boons.
Now, the fun is to try many combinations of weapons and boons and try the challenges offered on the run

It really depends on you and how you play games and how you enjoy Hades. See @worthy egret sank more than 80 hours in the game and is still far from being bored. Myself, I am a lame player so at high difficulty I find the game more tedious than fun. Some other players will seek those increasing challenges.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not a superfan of rogue-like type of games...
But then again, despite being a HUGE bastion and transistor fan I was putting of playing pyre because I'm absolutely not into sports game... and when I finally bought it a week ago I finished in 3 days due to how awesome it was. Not only the story (Red is still the best character, but overall Pyre is probably the best from supergiant and one of the best overall, especially given its progression) but even the gameplay grew on me after few hours (later rites were blast to play through).
So I thought I might give Hades a chance despite not liking the genre 🙂

Ya, when I unlocked titan blood for the gun I didn't notice that I could do it for all weapons, since I had just gotten the farthest I had ever with it, I thought it was a reward, so I put all my titan blood in that and I barely use the gun, so that was a big oof moment

I've only ever beaten ||hades|| (finally boss spoilers) once, but have reached a point where I can usually reach them... and I only took 50 damage against them this time, because of the shield + deflecting attack and special + divine protection.
And with the hammer upgrade to make bull rush a lot faster, I just zipped back and forth through the boss till they died.

the blocking is nice but the real value comes from chaos aspect special. you can use it to trigger things like zeus boon, or ares/athena duo a ton for good DPS on bosses, and also get good room clear so you dont take a lot of damage

It's great for stacking things like chill, hangover, or doom (when you get the stacking doom boon)
And it's such a large area, if you give it deflecting, it's crazy. Since you can throw it out reactively without any end-lag, it doesn't make you get hit by follow up attacks.

I've only used it twice so far, but I tried to play around the spin attack and releasing it into a bigger group of monsters to heal + get hammers that make it faster or bigger
Lucky tooth seems to be a good bet later on, also spiked collar, I really just tried my best to get some deflecting boons up in there. Also do be careful when to use the spin, you can easily get dunked while you're charging it

I’d say it depends more on how you fare throughout the escape (luck with boons and such) as well as how well you have familiarized with the game (knowing how each boss attacks, some mechanics, etc)

No i wouldn't say it is a good place to start for two reasons. Hell mode starts you off with a few mandatory heats (the things that increase difficulty level), which will make progressing through to the end take longer, which makes unlocking the things that will make you stronger take longer. This is in turn will make learning all of the nuances take longer. Secondly, as you raise heat level in normal mode with any given weapon, you're still given the option to go to a lower heat, or no heat, to practice or try different things out. In Hell mode, you are not allowed to play at a heat lower than the last one you beat for any given weapon.
----- I prefer controller, others prefer mouse and keyboard. I'd try both

I decided to dip into hell mode when I felt like I had accomplished everything I had wanted in normal mode (which provided me enough incentive to still feel like I was making progress and made playing more gratifying). But once you've really gotten the hang of the game, the two modes will honestly feel identical

Yeah I ran into a similar situation with Hades, but having Hell mode provided me a reason to keep doing runs (albeit a very superficial one, but it worked nonetheless). However, I do still enjoy just doing runs in order to try out certain builds or just see how absolutely over powered I can create a build. And there's also always speed running, which has a very nice community and is definitely another way to set goals
I've got 500+ hours in Hades already and I still love playing it, not to mention there is a lot more content scheduled to be released in the future
