Oh man the run I just had... using the Rail, got Poseidons Attack (Knockback), then Zeus/Poseidon Duo where Lightning Strikes on any Knockback. Then got chance of Lightning Striking twice. Then Razor Shoals (damage on knockback). Then got Lightning causes Jolted curse which meant instant Privleged Authority on any attack. THEN got Epic Hermes Attack speed upgrade. THEN got Zeus Legendary spawning additional bolts every time lightning strikes.
First time I've ever killed ||Hades|| without burning a DD. Hot damn that was awesome.
That might have been the best build I've ever had.

its not nice to see, but it does slow down the progression of the game so you can't take a diamond you get from a fury, and immediately convert it into 500 darkness, get 3 death defiances, and win on your second or third run

The reason the shop is there (and designed the way it is) is just to slow down how fast players progress, which I think is needed considering an early player could get darkness/keys/gifts at a speed that the game doesn't intend

That would solve the issue, and place the upgrade at the end of a run, meaning a player needs to be in the end game to actually access better conversion trades to unlock what they want faster.
I also don't find it particularly frustrating tbh given that I know keys are supposed to primarily be gotten thru bounties and that bounties should always be providing a 2-2 split of keys and diamonds per run (at least that's all I've seen)

But i usually end up having enough obol by the end of my runs to just get keys......but it keeps giving me diamonds so i just started buying tunes since i rarely get the option to trade them for keys
Or i spend the obols on poms to just get two boons to like level 8-10
I do take the gem chests though. I wanna get those expensive visual goodies
But yeah. Locking the better trades behind simple level progression of how far you get in styx would be nice. It would make sure new players dont “break the game” and let people just get rid of what they dont need

oh dude, im an artemis fan bow for most cast builds
doing around 1k per cast is nuts, getting all my casts into the boss at once is nuttier. waiting a few seconds (depending on what upgrade your hera bow is ) is bettet than waiting the standard time

getting double shot and increased pure shot damage allows the attack to scale with most boons incredibly well too.

i dont usually have issues with dealing with waves until styx, and thats case the rats like to block my casts when i try to kill the poison satyrs
and for those i run around killing them then when they stop spawning, just mow down the last main enemy

When I'm doing my poison rail runs, I generally have aphrodite on dash to make enemies constantly weak, so the rats aren't too bad for me.

Yea, I go Eris aspect for +60% to all damage if I hit myself with the grenade. Dio attack, aphro dash and Dio/Aphro duo for more stacks. Dio and aphro are SOOO good together because it activates the mirror upgrade that increases damage when enemies are affected by 2 status effects. On final boss when I applied all the status effects and buffed myself, I'd do like 150-200 damage (maybe more if I get lucky) every 0.5 seconds.
That plus the damage from spread shot

You can get one hammer in Tartarus / Asphodel. If you skip it, there's a chance it will show up in either of those biomes again, or in a shop. Once you reach Elysium, you can get up to two hammers. If you haven't gotten one yet, you might find hammers in Elysium until you've gotten two. In Styx, there is a hammer in the shop, and you will not find one in the chambers no matter what.

Zeus - Lightning strike + chain lightning (damage to nearby target)
Poseidon - Knock-back + increased wall-slam damage + consumables
Artemis - Critical hit + more casts
Aphrodite - Weakening (reduced enemy damage)
Athena - Deflection + increased defence
Ares - curse (damage to primary target after a second) + blade rifts
Dionysus - Blight wine (x damage over x seconds) + Festive fog (AOE damage over time and slows?)
Hermes - increased attack and movement speed + Dodge
Alternatives:
Ares - Bleed (x damage over x seconds)
Dionysus -
Dominate mind (x% chance of turning target to your side for x seconds) (similar to Unhealthy Fixation but whatever, it suits Dionysus)

Err… someone or other - Mutate or transform (Transforms enemy into a weaker version of themselves for x seconds - kinda like the Unarmed souls in Elysium) - could literally suit anyone since the Greek Gods turn people into animals, inanimate objects and so on, all the time

An easy way to control the number of gods per encounter if they ever were to include all thirteen olympians (technically twelve I know) would be to have an altar for each of the gods in the courtyard and the ability to lock or unlock them with keys, with each locks costing more keys each time.
So say you have 4 gods that are locked, locking a fifth one would cost 5 keys and so on. That way you can customize your runs further and maybe even have the locked gods being angry about you in some conversations or have challenge rooms with the locked gods helping the enemy like when you get a Trial of the gods.
I also like the Idea of having familiars as boons.

Traditional Greek tragedy style, maybe Persephone kills Zag when she meets him in the flesh and discards him as an unwanted child, Zag get back to the Temple of Hades and wants answers, escapes again to confront his mother, you get a new piece of dialogue everytime you manage to escape on why Persephones despises Zag before killing him and sending him back to get out again and again. Think of Sysiphus doomed to push his boulder for eternity or Prometheus getting his liver eaten by birds every day ofr all eternity. Zag's punishment his to spend his trying to escape the underworld forever.

I had a weird dream last night where Hades was an old-school arcade cabinet. You put in your quarters, picked a weapon and were off. I don't think there were Keepsakes, but instead of Death Defiances, you had to put in more quarters. There was also local CoOp with another person playing a Zagreus where all the red in his costume was blue.
I don't think I actually want an Arcade Mode for hades, but it was a cool dream.

and it seems to be true in the end since its definitely reasonably possible to buy everything costing diamonds without too much effort while the gems and new keys seem impossible to get everything done

Yeah, it seems like the easiest way to get the new keys would be to go on 0 Heat, save your money and hope you can buy one for 1,500 in the last area.

its not just about being the easy way - you need more keys if you want to upgrade every weapon aspect to lvl5 than you will get on average from bounties even if you do all weapons 0-10 heat
ofc its random what the bounties give you but lets say its 2 keys 2 diamonds from bounties these runs
55 runs times 2 keys makes that 110 and you need (5+15+16)*5 to unlock all, so 180 - meaning you need to get 70 from elsewhere, so 1500 from shop or the trader in the house
you will be done way before that with diamonds - i mean i am almost done there, just waiting for the last song
and with gems i am not even close to afford a single one of the expensive ones

For me? Extreme Measures and Snake Oil only change 1 room, so they're not bad if you're good at bosses.
Likewise, you can just pick Middle Management and avoid Miniboss rooms. Sure you lose out on some boons but given Eurydice exists, you can still get high tier boons.
Convenience Fee isn't awful because Hypnos keepsake exists. Means you can't farm the keys in Styx Mega shop though.
Death Insurance (or whatever the new name is) isn't that bad unless you're running a slow heavy hit build.
Tight Deadline is likely the easiest by itself for me. Rarely am I not clearing Tartarus in under 5 minutes, and since time stacks up, it means I'm fine for Elysium/Styx.
Deadline is also worth the most, 5 Heat total.

Styx is the exception. Skulls on the door mark extended wings filled with elites with a miniboss at the end. (And rewards for Styx wings are always "doubled" or "increased rarity" for boons)

Just tried a few runs for the first time since the very first version - so much more depth and content now! One annoying bug early on in my first run where I couldn't choose a chaos boon so had to quit, but besides that, all smooth. Frequency of health recovery options makes it a little less punishing than when I last tried but still only have one successful escape from Asphodel (with an old life stealing sword, was way too easy - glad they removed that buff). Was mostly trying to collect darkness. Didn't even notice the weapon aspects until just before calling it for the night, so I'm excited to try those out.

@tropic panther - Several of Artemis abilites (Call, seeking cast, Exit Wounds) are boss Killers, the seeking cast is great on fights with one or two targets and lots of movement (like all the boss fights)

I'm gonna be honest, I think people have been overhyping True Shot lately.
Before the crit addition, it was the weakest Cast, with only Electric Cast being arguably equal, but at least EC will reliably set a Status Curse once you get the appropriate boon.
This brings it more in line with Slicing Shot, Phalanx Shot, and Tidal Shot.

though tbf slicing shot isnt that good without the hunting blades addon or legendary. Enemies move too fast in Elysium and if you rely on it, really hurts your dps

I think Engulfing Vortex actually does a lot to make it work without Hunting Blades.
With Hunting Blades it's the best Cast in the game, and in fact is one of the best builds in the game.
But EV and Vicious Cycle can make it viable.
Tidal Shot is awesome because it's got such a huge AoE on top of good damage, while Phalanx Deflects, has AoE, and can turn into a buzzsaw if you have Lightning Phalanx.

I don't like relying on Blade Rifts unless I have HB, but it's a great tool to just throw into a crowd to soften it up.
I didn't get it this run until right before the Heroes, but having it on the Barge of Death was super useful just to thin the crowd a little bit.

There's a graphic somewhere, but I don't have it.
Items are separated into run-only and House resources. Health, Obols, Poms, boons, and hammers (when available) all belong in the same pool. Skeleton Keys, Ambrosia, Darkness, and Gemstones all belong in the same pool. You can reroll Centaur Hearts into boons, but not Ambrosia. The same applies to House resources.
Shops and special encounters cannot be rerolled.
Laurels around room reward previews will be either yellow or blue, yellow being run-only resources and blue being House resources.
If any of that didn't make sense, please let me know.

I only ask because I can imagine those two having an oddly tender and chummy (but utterly platonic) relationship,

But end up bonding over their issues and neglect by the other Olympians,
Hephastus being considered deformed by the others and utterly despised by his mother Hera,
- odd thing about that being that most sculptures and paintings of him make him look like a ruggedly handsome lumberjack type,
My theory is that he wasn't actually deformed at all, he just looked like a normal human, whereas all the other Olympians are divinely perfect and have other-worldly beauty -
and Hestia literally being taken out of the 12 Olympians, in favour of Dionysus,
Being the oldest of Cronus' children, she could give him the motherly affection and sympathy he never really got, and give him big hugs and a nice home-cooked meal, to cheer him up, when he comes crying that Aphrodite cheated on him again~
In return, He could be a really helpful handyman and reach stuff on high selves for her and so on, since I imagine her as kinda like those sweet, little, old ladies who miss having kids around and just likes having some company~

They have been tweaking the sound, Riccardo. I don't remember the exact update (you could find it in the patch notes history if you really want), but it was fairly recent.

Guys what happens if I "heat" more than necessary?
For example, for my bow the heat that will unlock rewards is 3, if I choose 10, for example, would I unlock more rewards at once? would I complete 3 and then unlock 4 as if I had only 3? How would it work?

Any tips for good builds with the spear? It’s by far my worst weapon, I always feel like I’m hitting enemies with a wet noodle.

The only way I can make the spear make sense is when I spawn into Quick Spin.

You can charge up spin and then dash into a direction to sweep with the spin, that makes it a whole lot better.
Spin has high base dmg and there are few great +% attack modifiers -> crit goes along nicely with it.

the timer is different for each room
used to have a lot of rooms that were impossible to get the bonus from before and has been adjusted
so cant say an exact time, just there is a countdown around the keepsake

@ichoren before the update you had a rail gun upgrade wich was just hera railgun but better without extra steps they should make it have like you shoot one shot that deals 70 damage and 1 round but a litle faster reload slower then was but faster then normal now

So it’s debatable if heavy slug was better or not, but the aspect dosent cost a hammer upgrade, so it’s just a net positive for the rail compared to last patch

What do you guys think, at the end of Elysium, first defeat the Minotaur or Theseus?

Asterius.
You don't want both of them in their second phases, that's terrifying, but Theseus largely leaves you alone if you kite Asterius to the other side of the arena.
Gotta watch out for spear throws, but in the first phase they telegraph very heavily so even when Asterius is in his last quarter they're not too hard to dodge.
Trying to dodge god attacks on top of Asterius coming at you is really rough.

Back in Dyonisus, when he was in his alpha, and beta versions, he was a much more dark, madness/dismemberment kind of god, very associated with Underworld
its possible that they both were once the same entity and got separated
in Orpheus' Hymn to Zagreus, he says of his many deeds
all of wich Zag says are lies
but there are actually myths about those happening

You can spend keys upgrading weapons, go into a run, and if you give up during the run, you'll be back to as you entered the armory before changing anything. (which refunds the keys)

Bored. 14 slow minutes to the hydra. 4 minutes to beat the hydra. 20 minutes of elysium. barely died to hades first time playing in weeks and had some skulls active.
too easy in beginning, then small ramp up in elysium. then massive ramp to hades. was so bored that by the time I got to hades, I didn't care.
zag slow. enemies slow. every time I actually got hit was because I was in animation.
to be honest if I knew the game was gonna be this, I wouldn't of bought. wish there were ways to play old versions,

daedalus hammer now crap. very limited builds because of how few levels.
I could go on and on(and edit this to make it nicer.)...but...its just not worth the time.

Hades is only planned for distribution by 3rd party clients (Epic, Steam, probs some console stores, etc.)
I would appreciate if they released the game on their own platform, but they'd have to develop the web architecture for that, which is a fairly ambitious task, and they probably don't see any value in doing that.

Terraform is useful for generating Kubernetes clusters, but that's still a fairly advanced tech stack.
