Transistor just ticked me off the first time I played it, I gave up at the first boss because I was dying so often and loosing all my abilities
Then I tried again a while later, wasn't enjoying it much, until I got back to that boss and something just clicked - I ended up loving it even more than Bastion

Taking the perspective of a god which is not directly engaging in conflict with said other gods, is a healthy take on this.
Though im not too keen on all the other games circling the Greek mythos, Apotheon and God of War is what comes to mind for me.

it's made crystal clear in Greek myth that Hades adores Persephone and treats her better than any other male God treats their partner in the mythology, by quite a long way, (except possibly Eros and Psyche but I donno)

At first, I thought I accidentally started a new file by flicking the controller stick on accident, or something like that. So I exit to choose my original file, but that IS the original file's slot, but now with the stats of that first run.

Is there any point in giving feedback about 3D models, animations and such, at this stage?
Because I have stuff like: Hades' mustache on his model looks askew; the sword in the nova strike animation stretches too much (it looks inflated) and then disappears awkwardly, almost like a deflating ballon; the spear doesn't look properly shaded in a lot of its animations

@distant umbra They've done some art changes in this patch so it is very possible that your feedback is still worthwhile.
I would say, especially when it comes to things like dissapearing of the sword as there is no animation for it atm (only the change in size) so nothing would be "wasted" if the change were to be done
And at the end of the day, it's better to give feedback and be ignored cause reasons than not to give feedback at all ๐

Does anyone else feel that the agis shield is the weakest weapon in the game atm? The special appears to be lackluster no matter how many buffs I get for it, and the blocking it does while charging seems to cover a really small area (especially if you were expecting something more like the shield from Bastion), also, the fact that you can block medusa/gorgon projectiles with it and it'll only shield you from the damage not the stun effect seems insult to injury

Hera - Understandable. Lowered defense on foes for a short time is something new, and due to her intelligence it makes sense
Demeter - I can maybe see a healing effect, summoning maybe, but shielding seems to be against the high speed combat SG is working towards.
Apollo - Slowing enemies, yes, poison maybe, it relies on Hephaestus which...
Hephaestus - Having multiple DoT based boons might be a bit too much. Explosive/AoE and burst damage seems to be the biggest potential imo, or maybe armor piercing
Hermes - Speed, speed, speed, charge times, attack speed, special recovery, I can see any of these having potential
Dionysus - I can see that having potential, but then they would have to change the Aphrodite boon that does the same thing so as to not impeach on other god's boons imo

Well, as I said, I have a few theories about the ending:
1: We climb all the way up to the surface, find Persephone, then it suddenly ends, leaving us both unsure of our place in the world, neither going home nor joining the Olympians
2: We climb all the way up to the surface only to discover (probably from Persephone) that the Olympians had malicious reasons for supporting us (because of course they do!!, Never trust Zeus!!) and are gonna mess with Hades somehow
At which point, we are offered a choice of 2 Endings (Ala SGG's first game)
One in which we side with the Olympians despite they're deception because at least they supported us
Or, we side with our father and the Cthonic Gods, because even if he's grumpy and rude, Hades clearly loves his son and just wants his family back together <3
Or 3: We end up going back down to the underworld after escaping, and end up overthrowing Hades and becoming the new Lord of the Dead
for some reason :/
It's thematically appropriate for us to overthrow Hades but it makes the least sense to me over all

But there is a reason not to: As a player who doesn't know the minutia of how the game works under the hood, it's easy to misattribute a problem to the wrong thing
For example: if you see an enemy randomly running into a wall for ages, it's reasonable to assume it's a problem with the enemy AI pathfinding
but that same problem could, in fact, be caused by a glitched animation cycle or oddly shaped hit box, causing things to collide when they should just move past each other etc. (games are complicated, there's literally thousands of things that could be going wrong at any given moment)
So if you just tell the Devs: your AI pathfinding bugged out, they could spend hours looking through the code of that system, looking for a problem that's somewhere else entirely
Extra Credits did an episode on Playtesting (I think?) that brought up this exact issue

Say, for instance, there was a mirror or chaos boon introduced that improved your damage while at low health? It'd make way more sense to take as many defiances as possible. Similarly, benefits that function off of high health are opened by having an item that improves your health right then and there.

when I'm making this choice, I'm thinking: I want to be more survivable. As it stands both collar and tooth do the same for me. I just gotta run the calculations and see what offers me the most value. Having synergies like the ones you suggested @ jupies would go a long way. Like how poseidon can make black shawl a lot better

Yeah, I had dismissed that as a difference but I forgot to take into account the pact- almost nothing hits for ~15 until the pact comes into play, at which point the tooth just WAY outvalues the collar.

it depends again. since you're taking such high dmg on high heat you are not really guaranteed to ever be on low hp
you might be on 40% and get killed. at that point tooth is no better than collar
again, this is a niche, but it's not fun on interesting. just a matter of number crunching and min-maxing

It's still a worthwhile consideration; gameplay's gonna be winnable at the highest difficulty, even if just barely, otherwise it doesn't feel rewarding to attempt it or clear it.
