@radiant halo They didn't mention this up there, so: Hades has a story that progresses outside each individual run. When you die, you go back to your starting point, but you don't restart the game; in fact, the story progresses as you die and are sent back to your starting point over and over!

Each run is randomized, but you start with exactly the same possibilities. There are no unlocks of any kind.

yeah that's what a lot of people are like and that's fine 😃 I personally like a good rogue-lite. Roguelikes are hard to keep playing over and over again because of the permadeath

I'd love a pact perk that gives you less starting HP and less HP per centaur heart. Like, start with 40 HP and gain 20 per heart, 30 HP and gain 15 per heart, and the final level is start with 2 HP and gain 1 per heart.

Always backup your savefiles when formatting. Don't ever assume cloud save works.
Even on Steam, on games WITH cloud save, it's wonky at best.

Double edge is insanely good, probably the best Daedalus hammer upgrade for sword now.
40% crit and 2 hits on the dash attack, combined with Deadly Strike is at minimum 80% crit chance on 2 instant strikes.

crits do so much damage now you basically 1 or 2 shot anything with really good range.. Old hunter's dash shield dashing wishes it was this good.

Slightly silly random question: Does Zagreus literally have one red eye and one green eye or is that just part of the art style?
When I first noticed it in his conversation image....thingy, I assumed the idea was that his eyes were both green but appeared red when they're in shadow
and that the only reason they didn't match was because he's posed in such a way that one eye is hidden from direct light
I've seen that exact thing done elsewhere to show duality in a character or to subtly (not very subtly) indicate they have malicious intent

Since I "finished" the game earlier today, I've just been running around seeing what kinds of mischief I can get into,
Thus, I have a silly little challenge for anyone who feels like goofing around for a few minutes:
I only recently noticed that the Stygian blade's special leaves a small mark on the floor directly in front of you every time you use it
and none of those marks appear to go away until you leave the room,
Which means: you can use it to write stuff!~
Why not leave a message for Hades or whoever is responsible for cleaning this stuff up when you've passed by and finished vandalising the architecture?

although I gotta say (and I dread to say this and invoke a nerf) the Spear might be a smidge OP. The range and attack rate make it easy to stunlock un-armored enemies into oblivion, although it did me little good against the first legit boss.

Also, all weapons have good points. You'll find plenty of people to tell you bow is the best weapon. Some will even tell you sword is the best weapon. Don't think I saw anybody say shield is the best weapon, but it's still a pretty good one.

On the other hand, I just poked around my controller settings and found out why the d-pad wasn’t doing anything, which effectively solved all my problems except that you have to press the button multiple times to scroll multiple items, which isn’t a big deal.

@brisk trail Once you realize you can charge up the spear and then dash, it makes using the spear a lot more effective and fun. It has decent damage and good range. Solid weapon.

But think of it this way why bother playing the spear when you can go sword + athena "your special is stronger and can reflect" + nova aoe upgrade from daedalus and just T-pose aoe all the mobs down + reflect in all directions for 200+ dmg, I had a run that I was doing 650 non crit with it
I'd be ok with the spear if the charge was faster, like how it is if you get the daedalus upgrade but from the start
Like with the bow you have the potential of doing 1k+ crits, with the sword you can clear rooms in 20 seconds with the right nova combo, what does the spear have going for it?

There is heavy use of pre-rendered assets as opposed to realtime rendering which is why the performance is quite good and it also looks really pretty.

for a procedurally generated game, hades looks really nice

Does anyone know how effects stack in Hades, does the universal crit chance have a seperate trigger from an ability that already has crit chance, is it additive, does it work together in some other way? Similarly Chaos rooms prevent you from picking a room choice for the next room but does it send you to a new, random, room or the next room you had available (or one of the available ones if there are several)?

I believe crit is additive e.g 20 % crit after dash stack with 20% crit on attack to become 40%
as for the chaos rooms its a bit murky I have found that sometimes it picks a room in accordance with exits in the room you came from but I have also on occasion had it pick something different (even skipping the entire bomber boss encounter on a room that only had that as exit, I never encountered the bomber boss fight on that run)
