@spring cipher - Them being dificult isn't really the issue, they're very easy to handle at range, but that discourages players from ever picking a melee focused weapon or ability

It's not a matter of dificaulty, it's about making sure both ranged and melee play styles are equilly viable

You might not find it that hard but the vast majority of players will realise, after a while, that the best way to deal with them is from affar and stop using the sword as often

Well i mean they are both viable imo, the sword has its uses and with the right boons it does its job perfectly well. Yes armored targets are easily dealt with by kiting them for enternity, but this is applicable to all the weapons, it really comes down to boons as opposed to the actual weapon

Just played the easiest and least fun run so far. Sword, Daed hammer upgrade to 200% special damage/range, got Athena epic special to level 7, over 300%. No movement required, just spammed Y. Beat 2 of the "survive for 1 minute" rooms by killing everything as it spawned, and all of the infernal troves I came across- clearing them faster than I had ever before. Only lost one life to hydra.

like Life Drinker which healed you every 3rd sword attack and Sweet Surrender which was bugged and applied more damage than it should have

both were way too powerful before being fixed/taken out

anyway, I really don’t think there’s a designed number of escapes that the game was made with in mind and pushes you towards. You could finish it in 10 or 100 attempts

This has been one of the best games based off of mythology i've ever played. Great character development, you have to be good enough to progress but a lot of that comes with pattern recognition, so this game is learn new stuff die encounter new stuff die keep repeating, this is the perfect style to do a game/anything really because slowly moving forward is how we learn

in the game currently my favorite thing in the game is dash combos, (like charging up your bow and spear and use the full charge at the end of my dash, great way of staying a little safe and very satisfying to cut corners, but sometimes when i enter a new room i need to dash once before it will let me do it, so standing with the charge i can try to dash but it won't let me.

@supple cloud trinkets for me is usually for the first floor i tend to go a boon trinket aiming for better or specific build and then switch to harpy feather duster after meg, it drops more often than you would think and the heal increases with you max hp (starting at 50=5, 75=8 100=10 125=13, etc.)

@fossil ocean for me the build varies depending on what i get an epic upgrade on.. so if i go zeus boon i might end up with a dash+attack build (chain lightning) or a long-range cast build that wants to kite

and with lvl 3 death defiance you have 60hp reserved and during all of those 60hp + your last <50%hp from your first life you have 140% damage increase

that would be fair. At point blank it's literally triple damage, and unlike basically every other damage increase it stacks multiplicitively with others, not additively

the aoe explosion on the spear special feels very underwhelming as it makes the spear not go through enemies a lot of times which denies you the backstab damage when you pull it back.. or am I just using it wrong?

I don't ever use the special. Just hold down that attack button and spin on to enemies.

The special is completely underwhelming on the spear tbh, and I just quit a run because my daedelus boon boosted special in 3 different ways. What a waste.

the special can be really good to harass enemies, and the guaranteed backstab deals some decent damage, too. it all depends on the build, but I also only started using the special around 10 runs in with the spear

#

can deal around 500 damage to armored enemies which is really neat

Spear + pain on hit, crit after dashing + crit damage is basically the highest dps I've been able to find.

i went for 500% armor damage from daedalus, then crit on special from artemis and then again artemis for increased crit damage

I've got the hydra with each weapon, I think the sword is the weakest for the runs as it lacks any range. it's fine in Tartarus but once you get to Asphodel the blue brim stones (the shield ones) are a massive pain to get, especially when over lava.

whereas the bow is not so good on the stages but is great in boss rooms

how do the last two chaos upgrades work? the chance for boons to have rare/epic effects? does that just mean when you get an upgrade it has a higher chance to be rare/epic? do those two upgrades have a max level? and is there any point to upgrading the rare one? or just the epic one?

and epic is twice as good as rare and hence double expensive, so the value gain per shard is equal afaik

Worst I'd say is Aphrodite , since by the time you get it the Charm effect is pointless, as you're likely killing everything too fast. Charm should be on a Tier 1 boon imo

if you want legendaries you really have to stack boons from one god.. so always take boons over any other room and go for god trials and if necessary swap your trinket before act 2
