if you look at the start of the laser attack in that clip, the beam facing zagreus ends where zagreus is, meaning it'd deal damage as soon as it gains a hitbox (in other words had I just stood there the laser would have hit me), and I'm stuck in that spot (pressing D doesn't make zag walk further to the right because of the way dad is facing compared to zag's position). I dash through without holding any keys because zag's dash is barely short enough to get to a safe spot on the other side of the lasers circle if you don't hold any movement keys.

From a few hundred hours of fresh file no-resets I think I can say that generally one can get ME going on 2 out of 3 runs, assuming not losing much health throughout (to save on money otherwise used on buying hearts, food or healing-items) and making optimal build-choices. I'd say that if you're reaching heroes without both ME cores and don't have divine protection 
then it's probably time to reset.
Alternatively, feel free to play out every single run to get the most amount of sword practice you can. It's less efficient for lategame practice, but it might prevent silly earlygame meg / asphodel deaths while having good builds.

Hey everyone. Am trying a boonless run and was wondering about probability of finding a pool of purging in a given temple of styx path. I've already spent all my dice with no luck so I only have 2 godless paths available. I've read the first one never has the sack and then it's 55% for each room after that so ignoring the god paths would be about a coin toss chance to save the run.
Alternatively, I could try the god rooms first and hope a pool of purging spawns in the other ones (no reason looking for it in god paths since I would be forced to pick a boon at the end anyway), but what is the chance of that? is it better than 55%?

The best 2 people have done in a full run is 1 boon (though 2 other people have beaten the final fight itself with less than 50 hp lost with 0). The difference between allowing 1 boon and 0 boons is kind of extreme, as 0 boons means either significantly less damage or making unavailable to crutch on.

SOOOOOOOO. If I get 3 boons then go to the paths with no gods I have a 72.75094749609375% chance of finding a pool of purging. (and the satyr sack will necessarly be in one of the rooms. Better than 55%. If I had 3 godless rooms the chance would be 79.75% going into them first.

Going into the godless ones first also has another 10% because you can try your luck with a pool of purging in the last room. Still better to go gods first in my case, but good to keep that in mind.

Double check you don't have approval process on, is literally the only effect that does it

when dad darknesses or transitions from the end of phase 1 to the start of phase 2 (the part where the dialogue box is), I personally like to destroy the destructible pillar to the right-hand side of the arena. destroying it in advance means you won't ever get checkmated by a dad laser breaking the pillar, which can break pots under your feet if a pot is nearby. I also like to use the divine dash to destroy the rubble around the arena to avoid zagreus getting stuck on it, which is a thing that can sometimes happen.
28 seconds in in the first dadfight for example is a case where it would have been free to break pre-emptively.
at 46 seconds, yeah that's a classic 
dash towards the wave or at worst perpendicular to the wave, but never the way a wave is travelling.
as an aside, the hitbox for shockwaves is only the most exterior ring. this means that dashing "slightly too early" is usually perfectly safe for them (though it can sometimes cause a shortdash).
while this isn't a hard rule, it's sometimes better to not stand right in front of where hades is facing in phase 1. contrary to phase 2, in phase 1 thrusts can happen as a standalone attack, and not standing in front of dad means he has to turn towards you to do that attack first, leaving you with more time to identify and react to it.
the spin has a visual cue one can learn until the muscle memory is down: wait for the white outline of the spin coming up to fully complete a circle, then press the dash button. should reliably let you avoid that attack.
at 4:23 and 5:09 you use a trippy shot, but it bounces off of a pillar. you can stand slightly further back to have it lob over the pillar.
4:37, you had dad doing a triple-spin into a pillar, meaning he is effectively not going to move too much with this attack. this is a rare case where dashing the polar opposite way of where hades is going is a good idea, as you'd have been out of range of the two swipes as well as the spin.
at 5:03, you dash away from a dashspam -> spin attack. I would advise against this, as one only very rarely benefits from doing that (dad moves around so fast you're probably not getting out of range unless he was pretty far away when doing ths spin in the first place), in fact if I'm not mistaken it makes the timing different which is often a net negative when one's muscle memory is trained to dash at a specific time. I lost one damageless fresh file attempt to that same mistake.
at 5:16, there are pots nearby and dad just did a spin. that's the perfect time to standing-strike one of the two green pots closeby (probably the one to your left, as it guards a pretty useful part of the arena that is almost always safe from phase 2.2 lasers) and dash back behind the pillar right after.
5:52 if you want to be fancy, you can do a standing-strike here to safely apply doom, then activate doom with the dash you also are using to avoid the spin

and I'm assuming there are more than 2 builds that win the game
I looked it up and the bone hydra has 6k health (main head), theseus has 9k, asterius has 14k, and hades has 17k per health bar making the duo have 21k and hades have 34k
there is also the shields of elysium enemies and the extra eye spirit that pops out to add to the damage problem of the biome

The starting version for builds is:
Low dmg/fast hitting: aim for zeus/dio/ares who add an effect to the weapon
Higher base dmg but slower prefer gods like artemis (for the crit chance) or aphrodite (highest % modifier)
From there, if you have your codex upgraded to have the boon lists you can look for boons/duos to add more

- It's not got as much damage by itself as nemesis does, but scales a bit better than it with hermes rush delivery, which can be important for speed (2nd out of the 4 swords, 1st is nem)
- it has a potential WR-able alternate high heat meta-build involving world splitter that's very consistent to get, making it slightly better at heat too (3rd, 4th is arthur)
Zag bow:
- pretty fast, solid b-tier speedrunning aspect. (3/4)
- less bad than hera at extreme high heats (3/4, has potential for tie-ing 2/4)
Zag shield:
- better chaos shield in every way for speed (3/4)
- better chaos shield in every way for heat. Also can to some extent deal with routine inspection 3 whereas beowulf cannot (2/4)
Zag spear:
- can get flurry which makes it automatically pretty good at going fast (2/4)
- kinda mid at heat outside of the hammer options, 4/4
Zag fists:
- demfists with less damage, but still faster than talos or gilga (especially in RTA speedruns) (2/4)
- pretty ok, definitely less bad than gilgamesh by a MILE (2/4 or 3/4, idk. Talos has the best non-demeter fist heat, but that's partly because @low pelican is a madman )
Zag rail:
- discount eris (3/4)
- can get delta chamber which automatically makes it pretty good (3/4 on average, 2/4 at best because hestia cannot deal with damage control without sacrificing its whole gimmick and becoming discount zagrail which itself is discount eris)
The zagspects are definitely the least unique due to being the most generic version of the weapon by design, but they're not as bad on average as you appear to think

hera in anyheat has the damage to kill stuff on the spot. one can also use obstacles or weaker enemies right in front of the targeted enemy (which we call "wallbugging") to have the cast deal damage without lodging into the strong enemy.
this is in contrast to the aspect in high heat, where it struggles to do that and hence has the problem you described

chiron has multiple problems:
- its significant damage on special-based build ideas is locked behind 2 hammers
- even if you get the two hammers and a decent special-boon, it struggles against most rooms with regular enemies since those rooms don't have just 1 enemy to target
- if one chooses to play the aspect with attack (pseudotech included), the damage is pretty bad comparatively, it becomes bad zagbow
in essence, theoretically chiron can be a decent aspect if many things go right, but in practice this just isn't true for most purposes

and I will say, just for that fight, and only for that fight, and only phase 3, that DR might actually be balanced
there is a reason why you have to go through hoops to get to that version of the fight

Mirage shot: duo boon from artemis-poseidon, a 2nd cast is shot at the same time as the first at reduced damage
First bug: while using "flares" the reduced damage on mirage's 2nd cast is not applied, so it just doubles your dmg basically
