More a joke but it's my favorite aspect because it excels at non-meta stuff, and maim is funny because it applies to any dmg on that enemy, even Summons.
Maim also gets a surprisingly good hammer
Rending Claws is based.
It's over a 100% upgrade. That's almost comparable to like Double Edge (2 hits + +20% dmg). Then Explosive Upper makes it aoe easily.
That combo is potentially very potent
And there are still other hammers Gilga wants like Breaching
My favorite use of Maim is dash boons. It just fits with the higher-risk playstyle.
And the extra dashes.
Eek out a little more dmg from your dash boons.
Then go Hypersprint + Rush Delivery
Some of my most memorable runs went that way.
Like I know that Maim becomes less important with HyperRush, but the point is Maim helps with dmg on the way to getting it.
Special also meets certain breakpoints
