For Sword to not be total ass you have to get used to the Special > Dash-strike x2 rotation, dash strikes are stronger and have more scaling sources, one of which is Double Edge which is the strongest Hammer by far for the first 3 swords, sword hammers are not well balanced so nothing comes close to it, and many options are actually detrimental (bouldy). You can start with Arty or Aphro attack, a really nice defensive mechanism on sword is the Special when combined with Deflect so look for Athena asap, and force her in Asphodel if she doesnā€™t show up. Along the way you can look for additional scaling options like Chaos and Hunter Dash or external damage sources like a nice Call, and maybe Smoldering Air or Lightning Rod. The other more rng route is Merciful End, which starts with Ares but you have to be more careful when picking other gods and filling core slots because you donā€™t want to unlock other Duos in the process and you also want to keep your Dash and Special slot empty for Athena, same principles apply aside from that, just with the addition that Impending Doom from Ares should be prioritized. Difficult modifiers, each with a certain value, unlocked after your first victory. For example, making enemies have 15% more health, or triggering a harder version of the bosses. The sum of those modifiers is called "heat". One of challenges of the game after completing the main plotline is trying to get victory upon 8, 16 and 32 heat, purely for bragging rights, mostly.

You also keep getting blood/diamond/ambrosia/blood rewards for beating the bosses for each heat you ascend, until 20 I believe.

And the main plotline doesnt really end until your || 10th|| victory, so there is also that to go for.

Having unlocked heat should have no impact on how many boons you get. There is a mirror option that increases the chance of boons, but nothing that decreases it, unless you take the pact option that specifically disables said mirror option. However, in the early game there are some boons that are hard-coded in. So if you've unlocked heat before, say, run 10, you might've had hard-coded boon drops up until the unlocking of heat, at which point it might feel like the number of boons dropped.

Yeah, which goes with the Reddit post that talked about how hades is the best rogue lite for players that donā€™t like rogue lites.

I get itā€™s a popular game and name and is very accessible but those factors in my view tend to equate to being overrated in the same way as COD/GTA etc etc. is this game good? Yeah obviously but so many games hig the spotlight just for being the next big name

Itā€™s impossible to please everyone. Some people just donā€™t care for roguelikes. There are other games with overwhelmingly positive reviews that I can never get into either

Some people just don't like rogue likes. I would argue it is unrealistic to think that everyone would love hades, in the same breath however, I don't pay any mental energy to things i dislike so i find it odd when ppl expend such energy hating something online

yeah they're independent but i'd consider them more a double a company than indie

it's heavily marketed, large-ish team, they have quite a bit of money now after hades was so successful
