Also btw getting to the epilogue isn't really RNG heavy, since like... you'll be done with or nearly done with all of the other storylines by the time you reach the epilogue anyway. RNG basically just decides the order of events before you get the epilogue but not how long it takes for all of those events to happen.

That’s how for the longest time I figured that all damage was multiplicative

If your goal is just 40 and not 40 with a specific weapon or aspect, then focus on practicing with whatever aspect you think is best for the job for you.

If you think that's Zag Bow, then use that. If you want to get to the point where you can do 40 consistently with it, then just keep doing attempts regardless of how good the run is going. If you want to do 40 asap with it, then reset for a good build out of Tartarus with Twin Shot or Triple Shot, good Attack, and at least 1x Strike or Lunge from Master Chaos or a great Dash, something like that.

Zag Bow with low damage is much harder than when you're killing everything in 1-2 shots and can quickly phase bosses.

Consistency means you need to be able to clear with the aspect at its worst. Just clearing means you can just reset to play with the aspect at its best.

Hestia, Rama, Beowulf, Zeus, Eris... All of the top tier high heat aspects are also very consistent.

Eris you get Lightning Strike + Tidal Dash and from there you already have so many ways to scale your damage... Beowulf, you only need Passion Flare + Snow Burst or Frost Strike (can also still go for Flood Shot and Mirage). And the others you could basically just use Shackle and your build is done.

Not that I recommend Shackle start, but you just need like 1-2 boons and you're already fine with DPS because the base is so strong.

Big difference between Beowulf and Hera for high heat is Beowulf casts still drop right away even when you don't one-shot an enemy. Hera suffers a lot more when you're not one-shotting enemies.

If you want a similar approach to Zag Bow but easier... Hestia loses piercing but otherwise has basically the same range but the shots are instant and you can move more freely... and way better single-target damage.

Alternatively, take any shield that you like and reset for Charged Shot and you have a better Zag Bow that can block while charging, doesn't need to charge for max damage, can't be blocked...

Doesn't scale with Dash-Strike damage is the one downside compared to Zag Bow.

if you dash strike and immediately go for the attack, it should hit with most weapons

Guan-yu is like zag or hades but with a built-in improved explosive launcher

Just had two runs in a row with a truly obscene number of enemies. At least 3 waves in every room, often 5, even in the very first floor of Asphodel. 20+ non-skull enemies in regular Tartarus rooms.

Each NPC requires that you do something in particular (and then have the unlock conversation with them) to unlock their locked heart and start being able to gift ambrosia
