I think they're pretty comparable, with different benefits on either side. Hunting blades has the legendary duo which makes the damage insane, and overall it does way more damage, but the rest of Ares' boon suite is.... extremely sub-par.
Demeter's cast is weaker overall, but with the added chill, it's really good for survivability. Not to mention that Demeter has some really great boons aside from the cast, like rare crop

it has nice damage with its aoe attacks and its defense is quite amazing, i had it with the deaduls upgrade that makes you lunch forward when using your special and it made the weapon quite amazing, its so diffrent than its other forms and it carried me through the run, i used 6 heat points which is usually very hard for me but somehow i did 1st try with it
