I learned why paint has that weird resizing quirk, it's how it stores image data.
normal images are stored as pixel then hexcode, pixel then hexcode, etc. but paint stores it as raw code describing the image which means anything that isn't the images original aspect ratio it gets confused and just makes a new image.

/s has been part of online culture for years, i remember using it and seeing it used as early as like mid 2000s. however there is a recent... discussion? i guess for more tone indicators which i have more mixed feelings about. there are some things that really dont need indicators like genuine question, literal/metaphorical and so on, just like. incorporate that into what you're saying. "hey metaphorically speaking but.." and finish your thought. mostly bc some of us are never going to remember these big list of indicators ive seen, just keep it simple for everyone's sake.
if these things are helpful for you, by all means use them if you need them, i do not begrudge anyone that. but on the same token while it can be harder at times for me process the tone someone is trying to convey in text, i dont appreciate them in situations where the meaning is very blatantly clear. ive seen people using indicators on things that are very clearly exaggerated in jest or serious life matters and so on and it just feels... quite patronising? like those of us that have a harder time with it are too dumb to get your tone without some indication. dont like that
