youre not mistaken based on what we've heard so far but the problem is that since usernames are now unique and MANY people used custom discriminators via nitro to have a desired name that was already taken by someone else, this entire excuse is redundant
i never changed mine solely because i didnt want to make cait edit the mod contact post she made forever ago, but a lot of people did get nitro specifically for custom discriminators

it seems to me that with big companies it's the same story
at first they make nice product/service which everybody loves and it quickly become popular.. and then less in a decade something happens
some stupid decisions, some outrageous changes.. most customers become mad, but the company has enough influence to not care about it
and in no time they become another EA
