Its pretty neat! They set you up in front of a computer and ask you to press a highly calibrated button whenever a square pops up on screen. Then it takes you through randomized sections of high stimulus(e.g. the square pops up on screen rather regularly), low stimulus(rarely) and randomized stimulus, and measures your timing on the button presses and how many of them you miss or how many false positives you press
if you're prone to falling into patterns, you'll get a lot of false positives on the high stimulus section. If you're distractable, you'll get a lot of misses on the low stimulus section, etc.
