Using interviews filmed between March and August of 2020 we take a follow the team at Supergiant Games as they react to the initial COVID-1...
@late jay luckily they prepared for it as the riots started and had video and photo footage of the whole office for the insurance beaurocracy that followed
Back when the soundtrack DLC of Supergiant Games on Steam were converted to music DLC, there were problems with the meta data, such as the wrong track playing when selecting one from the library view, resulting in all soundtracks for each game being mixed on a single disc now.
It seems that this was fixed in a recent Steam update, https://store.steampowered.com/news/74990/
Fixed errors with the display format and ordering of tracks with metadata when using the built-in music player
Improved support for track, album, and artist metadata extraction from all supported audio formats
I can confirm from other soundtracks who had similar problems that they no longer have the aforementioned problems.
If there is an interest in separating the different soundtracks for each game, such as the Transistor Soundtrack and Transistor Extended Soundtrack, on different discs, as it was originally planned, this seems to be working now and might be worth another shot.
Just listened to that 10 year Anniversary pax west concert.. so good!
@late jay We're doing alright thank you!! Though the break-in didn't happen during any "riots," it was a regular pre-meditated jerk break-in. ๐
Sorry for spreading some wrong info then! I was very impressed with Greg's attitude towards it in the noclip docu
Happy 11th Birthday Supergiant!!! ๐ ๐
happy birthdaygiant!

happy birthday supergiant!
Happy birthday guys! ๐ฅณ ๐ฐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
birf
All the best Supergiant! 100 lat! May you continue to do what you love!
Thatโs more than half as old as I am
yeah fr
you know what i desperately DO NOT want to ever happen?
a supergiant extended universe. where pyre is the first game, and revolution leads to the world of bastion, which eventually collapses, and those folks build a new world which eventually leads to the world of Transistor, and then when starting over Red lays the groundwork for "the real world," when Hades happens, and then we will get another SG game set in "the real world" in modern times
i....... would hate that so much.
But that wouldn't make sense because Transistor most likely isn't in the same realm as any of the other games, it's shown that it takes place in some form of virtual world. Hades is based on real deities that wouldn't exist in Bastion.
The only two that could possibly be connected and Bastion and Pyre.
and even that is a stretch beyond stretches
yeah, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes me not want it
but i bet you there is already fanfiction out there connecting it all
also: for all we know, the new virtual world Red creates ends up being the real world we live in today
(simulation theory etc.)
๐
also: for all we know, the new virtual world Red creates ends up being the real world we live in today
@shut walrus She isn't creating one, she's repairing the one she's already in. The game itself already takes place in a virtual world as everybody is shown to be made of code, hence their traces, the process, the world getting altered, etc.
Also in that universe, only bastion could take place if they just kept repeating the time loop
Or.
Multiverse.

I just thought of a neat idea.
An Overwatch-esque game that's essentially just a big crossover event with different characters.
ArcSys, Supergiant, Atlus, Roosterteeth, etc.
It'd be kinda fun

So a team-based shooter?
I mean super cool idea, but to get permission to use all the different characters might be hard
Well that's the thing, it could be a big crossover event.
It could start with just ArcSys (They're very open to doing collabs), and then we'd add on more and more.
I mean, I've already come up with prospective BlazBlue toolsets in my spare time when I'm not developing my own game.
See?
It's got all the stuff.
when will supergiant protags join the roster of bounty battle
OverviewBounty Battle is the ultimate indie fighting game: a new multiplayer 2D fighter, where you can pit your favourite indie heroes against one another! Indie heroes from games like Guacamelee! and Darkest Dungeon, to Dead Cells, Owlboy & more battle it out in this fighter ...
September 10th 2020
wait that game still isn't out? man I remember hearing about that ages ago
u can preorder it on the nintendo eshop rn
My guess is either Zag or Kid
power to you
Y'all, I desperately need Super Giant to release a 24"x36" poster for Bastion and Hades. My wall is naked without them next to Transistor and Pyre.
bruh how am i just seeing that now, that looks like everything i've ever dreamed of. It's just missing SGG characters
I'm surprised there are no Undertale chars either tbh
I'm not, iirc toby is kinda close with his characters
plus sans mii costume notwithstanding, they don't really fight
huh another indie battle thingy?
I remember hearing about it years ago because they added/were adding darkest dungeon to it, I thought it had released but ig not
read some forum posts, it's been quite on amount of change of release date it seems.
the only other recent game with indie characters fighting that I know of is Rivals of Aether, though they come from the workshop
No supergiant characters there yet either
I remember like there being Indie Pogo and another game I already forgot the name of somehow
the other game had binding of isaac
that's all I remember
And then some in MUGEN, but MUGEN is more of an engine than a game.
there was also an indie kart game?
the project started back in 2015 but still in early access
huh
First time playing Bastion. Got it on the switch. I can't believe I missed this game when it first came out. Bravo, super giant games! Talk about knocking it out of the park.
it's a fantastic game
Best to play this (and the other games) with no expectations.
Just going with the flow.
Playable Jodi or bust
I love that jodariel has become the de facto 'main character' of pyre
i always felt it was hedwyn until i saw sgg's promotional art
Actually it's a picture of the whole cast but they're all standing behind her so you can't see them
lmao
I always liked the original trio the most equally but all the promo art has her
Kinda feel like Jodi is what encompasses Pyre's premise somewhat
She's the one less willing to work/communicate with most (for most of the game iirc) but then starts working with everyone else for the greater cause of ||whatever you pick as the reader||
I finally did it... 100% on all three games. Bring on Hades!
Which one was hardest to 100%
congrats!
Hardest? Probably Bastion, though it was long ago I did that.
Pyre a close second, but probably largely because I kept insisting on winning...
for me its def Pyre if I ever to do this, with Transistor being second and Bastion being third. Pyre feels so hard to control for me on keyboard
Pyre just has a few really tough ones, like scoring 40 and winning with all the stars. But the true nightwings achievement, you can just lose the whole way if you like.
for real all the time I played Pyre I didn't change characters much in the matches lol
Yeah that will come back to bite you lol
Score attack was kinda annoying, but I wasn't that bothered by it after beating stranger's dream with 10 idols
I think my favorite bit was doing all the weapons challenges.
The carbine one has always been the easiest, tbh
the repeater was the easiest for me
calamity cannon challenge was hell are you smoking ruck's pipe or something
anyway, easiest one was Breaker's bow
the machete is the only one ive tried and i regret trying it
it makes me feel like i cant use the weapon well
Calamity cannon challenge was purgatory
Easiest for me was probably blunderbuss
SGG testing out Megaeraโs bullet hell attack pattern with brusherโs pike was also pretty annoying
Oh lol it's cuz I did cannon with the auto track ability
It's literally so easy because it goes straight to the enemy
Hardest for me was machete
All those stupid green squirts
brusher's pike and calamity cannon are terrible and i can't finish pike without cheesing it on no sweat mode
Yeah. It took me just the two tries tho
Repeater was also pretty easy.
Machete was the easiest by far. You just slash 'em all at the start and then pick off the stragglers and turrets.
but they all run away
Not when they spawn in
If you slash the green ones before they can run, you've got no trouble.
A few will escape, but you can pick those off pretty easy by waiting for them to hover over and then rolling into them and cutting them.
I think the one that had the least margin of error was hammer
is it possible to finish the game w/o getting all rewards from the challenges
yeah
Very much yeah
absolutely
any tips for the fang repeater challenge?
Extend your magazine as much as possible, roll while you reload, get as far forward as you can and destroy a bunch then roll to the next while reloading
๐
i wonder wots the chances of a transistor-only vinyl getting released
there is one
yeah
Hey guys! I'm Phil, from Sabotage Studio. Who should I talk to regarding Discord server cross-promo?
What is the song "Remember The Bastion" ? Can't find it anywhere!
I don't think that's a song from the game-
Itโs a medley of a couple of bastion songs
https://youtu.be/_BxELKRxbtA you can listen to it here from 56:23
You've heard our songs, but never heard them like this! At PAX West 2019, we had our 10th Anniversary Concert, featuring composer Darren Korb, vocalist Ashley Barrett, and the Supergiant Orchestra conducted by Austin Wintory. This video contains the full performance, complete ...
That was awesome, appreciate the link!
@cold kernel My guess is to write here, it should get to the right person that way: https://www.supergiantgames.com/contact/
Supergiant Games is an independent game developer in San Francisco, California. We created the games Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.
could also be a thing that goes in #self-promotion depending on context
but if not sure it's definitely better to ask through the contact form or mods
Well I've gone for the vinyl, thank goodness there was an europe distributor!
Deluxe edition and european versions is really funny to me
@cold kernel You might wanna get in touch with @atomic flicker about that!
hey @faint tusk - just did! Thanks for the quick follow-up
np!
Is there any difference between the 2 editions beyond the colors?
The special edition comes on two discs instead of one
So effectively doubling the amount of data that can be used to hold the songs
Also, 45 RPM is higher quality
Has anyone said when they would reach out to earlier pre-orders about upgrading? I ordered the standard edition a while back when the Special Edition was sold out, but would love to upgrade and not miss out ๐
it'd probably be best to contact by email though their 'contact us' page
@cursive galleon apologies for the ping here, but after seeing the post about European distributor for the album, may I suggest chatting to the folks at PixelCrib to do the same for us down here at the arse end of the world? ๐
Thank you for the recommendation!
Most welcome - They seem to be good people and in the business of stuff like this
Does anyone know where I could get a supergiant face mask? I have to wear one at work 8 hours a day, so I might as well look cool doing it
Maybe try looking for some custom design mask stores online and send an image with your favourite Supergiant graphic :) maybe even on Etsy could be found someone/small companies who offer masks with custom image
Guys when is hades 1.0 , like fall when? Is that November or this month haha
Fall as in sometime between now and the end of november
Also, keep an eye on #announcements as the SG team will post something there once they can announce anything more regarding the release date
I mean Iโm pretty sure December is winter but they can take as long as they need
I think there's a bit of a disconnect--Wiggle, when does Winter start?
I think it starts sometime in November
Well I judge it by when the weather changes entirely
(reasonable)
But technically Iโm wrong
the reason I asked is because I've seen people saying we're already in Fall, even though officially Fall doesn't start until the 20th
and I dunno if they're using the technical or literal term
We arenโt in fall, even by weather, Iโd say thatโs a couple weeks away
Fair though, I donโt care when they release 1.0, I know itโll have care put into it
ye :D
9/10/11th month is fall. But there is also astronomy fall starting 21 sep and lasts 3 months.
wait, really?
Yeach
where do people use 9/10/11? I've only ever heard 19/20/21
I mean 9th, 10th and 11th month in the year xd ๐
Pretty sure here in the UK we just refer to the seasons by month. Ocassionaly we'll make a point about "specific days" but it's just easier to go "September is autumn, December is winter" etc
oh right, y'all organize things so that they make sense
Allegedly
the winter solstice is only the 21st/22nd because of a mistake, the year was supposed to start on the winter solstice but moved due to calendar drift that was only partially corrected
December was supposed to be completely and unambiguously an autumn month
SGG: the game will be releasing fall 2020
all of us: furiously debating what the word fall even means
depends if you consult your meteorologist or astrologist.
or if it's some kind of pun involving being at the mercy of gravity
or when Poets of the Fall releases their new single.
or it's when you need life alert and you can't get up
Or a warning for the impending doom of humanity
So we will end up in the Underworld eventually
pretty sure itโs actually got something to do with antipaladins
OwO what did you order?
uhhhh i finally caved on the pax shirt i have been waffling on since last year rofl and the physical pyre soundtrack bc it was a sweet 75% off
now to wait for hades merch
HYPE
me wistfully thinking about the zag, than and hypnos acrylic stands someone made, i want those ๐
i know prints will be a given, just really curious what they'll put out
Official Zagreus body pillow

snrk
what? and miss out on an asterius body pillow? for shame
๐
OOOOOOOOOH
Oh wait
Bouldy body pillow
Filled with actual rocks
I'm getting deja vu
i'd pay actual real money for an asterius body pillow i'm not going to lie
have you seen the art someone made of hypnos with one

i'll post in fanworks lol
when are we getting cerberus print dog bandanas
When are we getting a petable Cerberus plushie, Supergiant?
I'm freaking out, can someone help me figure out why I thought the Hades 1.0 release date was October 27th? Does this date mean anything to anyone else?
someone may have mentioned it in the chat. but before the launch today, sgg had not given any specific date for launch
Thanks, I wonder where this number came from? Weird. A great surprise though, it's like thinking Christmas is somewhere in February and having someone come up to you on December 25th and go "nah dude, that's today"
Anyway, congrats Supergiant
Alright, any bets for the next title's name?
We have something building-related: "Bastion"
We have some electrical part: "Transistor"
We have a way of stacking flammable resources: "Pyre"
We have a Greek mythological name: "Hades"
What about ... "Pancake"?
Missing something edible on that list.
"Flagstone"
It's about building castles floating in a multidimensional aether to battle other castles.
I strongly endorse "Pancake"
hm
we can come up with things but i'd give it a month or 2, sg need some well earned rest
anywhere i can see the hades steam badges?
Hi people of Supergiant's Discord! Since December 7th, 2018 I bought Hades on Epic Games Store in a way to show my support for this company.
However, I do not enjoy playing early access game. It's my thing. I really enjoy to have the full experience, so I waited.
I saw every update. I followed the news. I was looking forward to be my turn to enjoy the experience of this game.
Then, the day finally arrived. And this day is TODAY.
I want to say thank you for all the Supergiant company to make this game that I know it will be amazing. I want to thank you all this AMAZING community that give feedback and was up to the task to transform the game even better. And I want to thank the noclip documentary because I know I have 5 videos (?) to watch after my journey on Hell.
So yeah, thank you everyone! I am looking forward to play this game! โค๏ธ
Is there any way that all the awesome voicelines for the "unfinished" ending will still be available in the game post release? It would be a shame to lose them, they were great.
@bleak schooner Good luck getting out of hell! Enjoy Hades! ๐ฅณ
I am so excited that I almost cry seeing the email. I talked about this game to every person I know ๐
It's better than the ps5 launch! ๐คฃ
and let the glowing reviews of hades COMMENCE!
YOO HADES ON THE STEAM FRONT PAGE
YOOOOO LETS GO
it's so good
Installing.......
I didn't expect it and my internet too
steam give me speed!!!
Will probably watch movie or two while waiting for Hades
While the update is downloading.
Wanted to say, extremely proud of the Super Giant team! You've created a solid game that is as enjoyable to play as it is to listen to while also marveling at it's artistry. I've been playing Super Giant games for many years (since Bastion), each game has had their their own appeals and fun variations. But seeing Hade's development has been nothing but pure joy as it's continued to grow and dish out new and exciting things to play around with for each major update.
Now with it finally reaching 1.0, in some ways I'll miss the updates, but I'm ecstatic to play the final version in all it's glory. Almost feels like the boulder's finally reached the top of the stairs
!
Very excited to see your future projects (as always ๐ ) and a huge congratulations on Launch Update ๐
โค๏ธ !
hmm, maybe I should have played early access to see how it grew, but at the same time I like going blind into full finished products.
Excitement level's really high. Congrats about release
just got Hades on the switch!!! I'm so excited!!! โค๏ธ
OH MY GOD. NEVER in my life have I expected Kurosawa Daisuke and Godspeed Aoki to be in a Supergiant game
WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
We asked if they were interested, and they said yes!! ๐ So much gratitude to a pair of basically literal guitar gods.
thank you supergiant for the game!! (and the boon codex holy moly!!!)
Hi! Not trying to just @ anyone directly, but I hope it's okay to ask here: What would be the best way to get in touch in regards to a review code (Switch) request?
Use the contact form on our website: https://www.supergiantgames.com/contact/
Supergiant Games is an independent game developer in San Francisco, California. We created the games Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.
Thanks, will do - hoping to hear back from you soon ๐
Any chance for a physical collection?
Basically I have Hades on PC and buying digital again on the Switch wouldnt make sense :-(
no plans for it atm Vis
There will be cross-saves. So it makes sense. But yeach I would love to have box too :(
same, I quite like owning my games physical
Well, it doesnt really make sense to buy digital twice, you don't even own the game digitally.
hi~ may i ask something a little weird about transistor and hades? thnx. if anyone is up for dm thatd be great. its about if there's any scenes that will trigger a phobia of mine
its a very unique one
xD
Hey Nega! You can DM me, I'll be happy to assist with a TW. ๐
I just wanted to say that I'm so proud of you all and super excited for the full release. All the love!!!
(And by that I mean I haven't got around to playing it yet, I know it's out now haha)
Hello! May I just say that I'm a moron for caving and buying Hades in Early Access...literally two days ago. XD
So I double-dipped. XD
Welp. XD
Money well spent!
I love every bit of it! ^-^
I just bought the game and soundtrack. Thank you for making this masterpiece.
I still wish that logo was more in line with the other games, but Iโm doing the same
Agreed
It sticks out like a sore thumb
This would be better but with the white font
imo
put that as a piece of feedback in #hades-feedback ๐
That sounds like a good idea! Will do that. Thanks!
I did it a couple feedbacks before you and got 2 dislikes but then you explained it better so hopefully it gets changed now lol
congrats on the launch. โค๏ธ u guys
heyo can anyone confirm for me whether hades is available on switch lite? I have a jp friend waiting for the winter launch but they own a lite and want to know if it'll be available for them or if it's full version of switch only. I haven't heard any restrictions on console version so I'm assuming it'll be fine but I wanna have a definite answer for them 0:
yup, it works, I know someone who owns Switch Lite and it works for them ๐
thank u
any game that doesnt require motion controls can be played on the lite (and the ones that do can be played by connecting a joycon to ur lite)
@pseudo prism for future reference
thank you Supergiant for yet another incredible game, i'm looking forward to beating this one ๐
Oooh there is indeed a server for Supergiant games!
welcome on in
So it's at this point where I can mention:
I absolutely love you for your games. Thank you for all those little masterpieces, from deepest heart!
Oh, and thank you a lot of course (: @faint moth
thank you supergiant for another really stellar game!! it's really awesome to see so much deserved love/support coming from all directions on hades! all of your games are really fantastic! :D
Just downloading Hades, haha
I'm very curious. I just finished Pyre some months ago, it's hard to describe how strong this game has touched me. Felt a bit like another person afterwards, who just experienced a pure form of aesthetics.
Pyre just hits like that, huh.
Finally I've found some persons with whom I can talk with about those great games. Friends of mine only played Bastion, if they did, hah
Pyre was undoubtedly fantastic
I'm sad that it isn't on switch
i got all the games on steam and switch except for Hades on steam and Pyre on switch obvs
Hey just popping in to tell you guys congratulations for finally getting Hades to 1.0!!
It's an amazing game and you can just feel all the love and care put into it.
I hope you guys are swimming in money and love!
Supergiant is the only game company currently which I deeply respect hah
Hope y'all are swimming in titan blood and darkness!...wait that doesn't sound as good
yo just beat hades and i just want to say this was hands down the best rogue like game ive played and a serious contender for game of the year so much fun
Could we please get new Switch channel tab right now as Hades was released on Switch? ๐ค
?
just joined the server and just wanted to point out someone might want to fix the #readme-first FAQ question "Q: What's next for Supergiant?" since Hades is now officially out of EA and in 1.0.
Also happy to be here and keep up the great work ๐
I mean channel to talk about switch version heh ๐
WOO
I got it on the Switch and have only been playing for approx half a day since I had to work in between when I played in the morning and right now and I am now obsessed
But there's not even a difference between versions @azure prawn
If it has something to do with controls or eshop or something, you can still talk about it in #h1-discussion since those aren't really big enough to warrant their own channels
Supergiant games currently has 66.6 thousand subs on yt
im just gonna screencap that real quick before it changes...
@candid epoch If Hades is a nominee for anything, SGG has my vote
I love Hades so much, and for the price, it has way more than just sufficient content, but I just got past Early access content (not to spoil anyone) and
Disappointment overwhelms me
I wanted to see what comes after so bad and for it to be just this.. I think I'm done playing this, and its so sad as its only my first run after the full release
Still one of the best games in 2020 yet just that bit makes me feel so robbed
;-;
Ah, the dilemma if wanting the Hades Vinyls, but being European. Do I wait and hope for a better deal, or shell out for exorbitant shipping fees and go for a limited edition one before they sell out...
Hey, we're investigating alternate shipping options for folks in Europe for the Hades vinyl. We'll announce something if and when we get it sorted out. Thank you for your patience on this.
I know you're doing your best
It's a shame but ah well. Fingers crossed that something can be sorted out ๐ค
The character art is so incredible in Hades that I wish I could buy some high quality prints of the gods. There are quite a number of them of course, but some small lithographs or something would be really neat!
it could probably be too much trouble for its worth for the team but some merch shipping options for EU would also be nice
order is in pre shipment for 15 days now
@lethal condor are you talking about the ending being disappointing?
please take all ending talk to #h1-story-discussion
thanks ๐
why is the music in all the games so good ๐ญ
The new track that plays in Elysium is an absolute banger
It's amazing.
Hades is number two on the switch store...
One if you sort on digital only
Oh really?
I expected Mario all star to be digital only as well
Waiting for hades merchandise
any news on the release date for Hades on Nintendo Switch in Europe? it still says "Fall 2020" and I'm not able to buy it yet; at least on the desktop website
yeah, I have seen the announcement but I find it strange that it's not available on their website yet. I don't think this has ever happened before as far as I'm aware
weird. anyway, I will look into it later today. I appreciate your help
The site is weird at all. I think it holds some data locally and it doesn't update due of that. Wonder if it should be correct after using hard refresh (Ctrl + F5, or alt... Idk)
@quiet cloak there is hades merch ^_^
https://store.supergiantgames.com/collections/hades-merch
wihs there was more though
we might get more in he future (don't get your hopes up though), but for now that's what is available
i'd still buy that poster.. just wish they also had key chains and lanyards
maybe a dusa plush..
I hope for ||companion|| plushies because I'll buy em all in a heartbeat
HADES just go through the Dead Cells with 10.4k active players record. Then beat Enter the Gungeon (15.8k) and now it comes for Slay the Spire with little over 32k record of active players.
Nice
Hello, is that approriate place to declare my infinite love of Supergiant Games... Games?
Because somehow they all absolutely amazing.
Yeah there have been a lot of devs who I love their stuff generally but have some cons to point out eventually, but I genuinely love everything about every SSG game and theyโre my favorite dev ever
A shame that I can't post pictures here, but anyway, for people who are like me sort of blindies: Zagreaus in his room in Hades has a little Pyre orb in a shelf.
(the same shelf also holds one sock, though, so...)
Does SGG have an artbook compilation anywhere? I collect them from various series, games, etc. because it's nice looking at art and it makes for great cosplay reference material. ๐
sgg has yet to make an art book for any of their games
can we have the chibi heads in the announcement post as emotes
Theyโre unlockable on steam, I would be kinda surprised if at least some of them didnโt show up as nitro rewards in their animated versions if not normal emotes
i just had a crash on hades for switch
o_o
never seen a game crash on switch before
the game has some really ugly framedrops as well
yeah that happened t'my spouse th other day while they were playin
i don't think it's very well optimized yet
i jus had them send th crash info thru th right channels as suggested, i'm sure it'll get fixed soon enough
Switch is finicky and Iโm impressed it runs as well as it does out the gate
Are there any plans to make the little character heads from this into emojis here? they could be adorable https://twitter.com/SupergiantGames/status/1307744738552938496
Hades has now sold more than 1,000,000 copies.
700,000 of these were during our Early Access development. To all our Early Access players: Thank you so much. We designed Hades for Early Access, believing you could help us make a better game. That's just what you did. #HadesG...

They currently exist as animated stickers through Steam! You can pick them up with Steam Points here: https://store.steampowered.com/points/shop/
Just wanted to say that I finally beat the game for the first time and the game is phenomenal! Iโve been following Supergiant since Bastion and this is maybe my favourite game of yours so far! Loved every second, and Iโm already looking forward to more runs with the punishment system!
@near cloak ||final boss is considered spoilers in this channel, please spoiler-tag your message accordingly!||
My bad!
Iโm so excited for the future of Supergiant Games. Theyโve already sold over one million copies of Hades, and it has I think even more critical acclaim than their prior games. Theyโre gonna get so much deserved attention and their success will enable them to create even more peerless games to come. Thank you Supergiant Games, once again, youโve done the impossible by managing to raise the bar with every game โค๏ธ
Hey, I've not been active with hades feedback for the last few patches. I just wanna say congratulations and what an incredible job you've all done at SGG. I love this game so much and I know that everyone else is gonna too. I'm playing from the start on my Switch to fully experience it all over again, what a treat.
Thank you SGG, take a victory lap! โค๏ธ
I am doing a research on the pipeline of Supergiant Games. Of course I know that you would have followed a basic pipeline but I would like some more detail would that be possible to find out here?
@mild snow Have you checked out the documentaries on NoClip's YouTube channel? I believe they worked with Supergiant to produce a series on Hades as well as videos on their other games. I think it would be a good place to start.
I will check that out thank you so much!
Looks like hades is going to stay at a pretty stable 98% positive reviews
This is incredible and utterly deserved
Hello guys! Do you know if Supergiant has any specialized mail for press requests? Greetings! ๐
Your best means to contact supergiant is through their email, which is 'Info@supergiantgames.com' or through the 'contact us' page on their website @lean pivot
Okay! Thank you so much @faint moth ๐
No worries ^_^
has anyone else ordered anything from the merch shop these days? order has been in pre shipment for about 2 weeks now though i don't know if it has to do with supergiant or usps (cough recent events)
dunno if it's worth sending an email over to ask about it
if you have any questions your best bet is to send an email to supergiant about it ^_^
at 'info@supergiantgames.com' @vale leaf
i know about the info mail, just wanted to see if anyone else is having a similar situation
will probably email later on in the day once it's morning in USA land
Hey, I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for doing the noclip documentaries. I really enjoyed them.
http://prntscr.com/ulyce4 Now this is a mood. (Sorry to do you like that, Greg)
improvise, adapt, overcome
fear is for weak
Hey guys, I know some of the SG Team is here, and I am new to the Discord, I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing games. It's been a great several years, and as good as all the games are, Hades is even better. Hard to believe. Thank you!
@vale leaf it could be on the way. i ordered stuff during the sale and the tracking said it was still there up until... it suddenly showed up in my mailbox last week. i never saw my tracking update at all up until it said it was delivered. i was just about to email them about it too, but you might try contacting them
shades emotes for steam pleeease
im surprised they didnt use the shades but the zag ones are cute
In Circles? In The Flame? In The Blood? What will Darren and Ashley be in next?
In The Credits
In space.
in my heart uwu
i dunno where this is appropriate but i just want to say that i love this game and i have not had this much fun in a very long time. so thank you to supergiant games for putting their souls into this game :3
@pseudo prism the tracking on supergiant's website works better than USPS apparently, my order started travelling 2 days ago
pog
ikr
i got the red poster and the bastion bandanna
i've wanted the red poster ever since i saw its in game version of it
really happy to finally have it
someday i shall also acquire the ti'zo plushie
Speaking of merch - cries in shipping to australia
the most terrifying thing in all of the country
In space.
@viscid orchid Oops now I want a space sci-fi game from SGG.
Space sci-fi horror SGG game when
"SGG makes Alien: Isolation"
i mean
we've had a somewhat retro scifi type of vibe in transistor
a very heavily high fantasy-dnd inspired adventure in pyre (as mentioned in noclip doc)
greek mythos in hades
idk how to describe bastion rly
i really wonder what the next installment's setting will be
modern day?
supergiant games makes a game about supergiant games making a game
i'd buy that
bastion is lowkey steampunk
supergiant games makes a game about supergiant games making a game
@vale leaf is it based off the NoClip Documentary?
I hope the next SGG game is hard scifi
Transistor was sci-fi but it was still like anachronistic and retro-y, you know?
i really liked transistor's setting a lot, but hard sci fi would be interesting
I was hoping the next game from SGG can be 'Odin'
Hm. So far they've all been one word noun titles, until now the central object around which the plot revolved.
The hard sci-fi horror party-based RPG would be... Shuttle?
Sphere
It's in good company with FFX and Odin's Sphere.
Rat By Supergiant Games, developers of Hades, Bastion
Actually, Hades does still loosely fit, given sometimes the character and location share their name.
I've played many rat games in the past and I wonder how a SGG rat game would play
The next SGG game is the successor to Bad Rats
you mean successor to Bad Rats 3D (yes there was a sequel to that one)
They'll go "we decided to go an even more unorthodox route with this game, so we're making a side-screen puzzle rat game"
With visual novel elements
Which rat are you gonna date? ๐ณ
"Supergiant Games have knocked it out of the park again with their newest title, Rat" - Every video game journalist
supergiant could release a game called "brush" and its literally just ms paint with a fancy logo and I'd buy it
Will selection tool and bucket tool kiss?
maybe
they would add modifier for that to restrict available colors
"Color this grass" and you haven't unlocked green
odin would be badass
the newest offering from SSG, the already-critically-acclaimed "Mouse" has you click the mouse at various points and has been widely praised for its immersive gameplay and beautiful story and characters
wouldn't even be mad
and now i'm imagining a walking simulator/visual novel with SSG's art and music hnnngggggg
Stanley parable kinda game
or my ol' favorite life is strange
Iโd really love an Afrofuturism or Steampunk game.
Why not both?
Exactly!
Hey Guys! This game is Awesome! Itโs so nice, I bought it TWICE! Switch and PC. I noticed on Switch it says โcross-saves coming soonโ is that cross platform with the PC? Does anyone know if thatโs a thing?
Yeach its how it will looks. you will be able to play on PC and then continue on Switch.
Sweet! Did they say if this would ever be on Mobile?
I would LOVE to play this on the go
Does anyone if/when Hades will come to Xbox?
Could be, the team has stated multiple times their desire to bring Hades to multiple platforms
Though I know nothing about Xbox release
Supergiant, please ๐
speaking of ports, it is the greatest of tragedies that there don't appear to be plans to bring pyre to switch
I get that it just wasn't designed with porting and mind, but WHEW it would be so dang cool
I think a lot of it is the fact that it's their worst-seller by a decent margin, so it wouldn't have quite the same return on time investment
just caught up on the No Clip series, this team is amazing
If all three of Pyre, Transistor and Hades came to Xbox I would buy them instantly
https://ibb.co/2YbgKNC Well, I've finally 100%ed all 4 supergiant games
Congrats! ๐
Has anyone tried to order some posters from Super Giant recently? For some reason 1 poster is 5 bucks shipping but 2 posters is around 50 bucks. Trying to figure it out instead of just placing 3 different orders.
@young bough i ordered one poster and the bandanna, intl shipping came to $30
if you're not in the us expect to pay a pretty penny
my poor wallet ive had in my mind that ive wanted a transistor tattoo for a while and now hades is like "hey"
get the Hades skull on your shoulder but in 3D
tempting but i really want zag incorporated
Just get the theseus extreme measures on your face
Perfect
Hey real quick, on the merch page, there's an option for "Hades: Original Soundtrack (Vinyl)" and "Hades: Original Soundtrack LE (Vinyl)" and the image for the LE is flat-black, while the image for the regular vinyl is (what I would presume to be) a limited color pressing. Bug?
nevermind, read again and saw my mistake. usually record labels push colored copies as more expensive options!
pretty pleased to see the recognition of carbon as a vinyl additive as a positive
Does anyone know if there will be (maybe in future) a reedition of some Supergiant merch (like Red figure)? I suppose this was already asked to supergiant (a lot of time) but i didn't find any information about it.
Is there anyway the 10 year anniversary poster will ever make it to DIsplate in a way that funds will still go to Supergiant?
Hey Quake! Thank you for your interest. At this time we're not pursuing any partnerships with Displate or other print providers. We do have a limited edition version of the Anniversary print available in the form of a giclรฉe, if you're interested in an elevated version of the original print.
Thanks Caitlin for the update ๐
I can't imagine this hasn't been brought up before but um......can we talk about the total lack of Cerberus plushies that are in the store?
is that a possible future addition?
Hello
๐
hi i just started playing hades on pc and love it :'))))))
Definitely would give many of my human dollars for a Cerberus plushie
Yeah, Cerberus is cute
I just started hades today
waaaaaaayyyy late but i get more of a cyberpunk vibe from Transistor?
transistor has a weird cyberpunk/retro-y feel to it
that I like a lot
I do have a question about shipping from the Supergiant store. Are there plans to offer more options beside one day shipping for US residents. I want to buy some merch, but I can't justify paying almost 25% more on shipping than the actual merch.
you're best off asking that question either through emailing Supergiant through 'info@supergiantgames.com' or through the 'contact us' page on their website @glad bay
Thank you!
in a lecture rn and we're talking about narrative design in games/ story telling and a lot of people brought up hades and other supergiant games, I just think it was a neat thing to mention here
Definitely deservers mention in lectures as a "how to do games right"
The lecturer teased us saying we're going to talk about hades later on in the term
and I'm really excited for that
you know, I wonder how SGG would handle a card game
probably art far in excess of what we have any right to expect from a card game :P
Almost certainly, and I would imagine dialogue would happen between the people depicted on cards played together
Pls, either a ccg or a horror game one day SGG
Card game with 30k voice lines?
@azure prawn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZmkooktz10 Ever seen this?
This video is sponsored by Shadowverse. Play it for free on PC or mobile: http://bit.ly/SVxProZD
Shadowverse features amazing artwork by some of Japanโs top artists. Itโs highly strategic, free to play, and super generous โcomplete the tutorial to get FIFTY free card packs.
nope, but i know him haha
ProZD is still an amazing voice actor
hey so you know how there was a red vinyl figure a while back. well i know sg team is veeeery busy but i will say...i bought the red fig......and i'd also buy a zag fig if one was made
Legends of Runeterra has a huge amount of voicelines, cards p much talk to each other where appropriate, such as when the opponent plays someone that's a lore rival to something you have on the field. So you can see what that's like already.
Personally, card games don't feel like something SGG would make, they by their nature require long term support.
i don't want supergiant to make anything even slightly PvP in nature
the moment you add PvP to anything it's a gargantuan headache because balancing just bloats itself to oblivion
any say, really dps heavy builds such as malphon with dire misfortune that can tear through a big chunk of the runs with ease
or some exploit/bug that renders a fury's attacks to be non damaging
such things in singleplayer are more of a minor nuisance or inconvenience
in pvp that concept just exponentially becomes worse
sg have already stated they probably won't add much/anything now that we're in 1.0, and iirc in a noclip interview or somewhere else it had been stated that content updates for the same game after release isn't exactly on their agenda
pvp games by nature need a lot of attention after 1.0
For anyone trying to order from the store I found something very odd I wanted to share. Already emailed Super Giant about it.
I wanted some posters, 1 poster was like 6 bucks in shipping but 2 or more posters was around 55 bucks in shipping. For some reason adding a cd game the normal shipping options. No clue why.
But try adding other kinds of items to check out shipping changes.
clangs pots and pans most of my cards are unleashed from cooldown hell @olive hull if ur still looking to level ur hades badge
i am
0: what do you still need, send me a req (linked on disc)
okay sent! you're lucky you had one zeus already bc i only had four rofl
feel free to delete afterward if you'd like, enjoy ur cards o/
thank you ๐
i don't want supergiant to make anything even slightly PvP in nature
Pyre is already PvP and we have a club that plays that every weekend
@young bough are you telling me i could have saved 25 euro if i hadn't gotten the bastion bandanna
actually no, i believe my shipping costs were similar with either one or more items
depends on your region though
Hey i just wanted to ask. Is Hades ever gonna have a 2player mode
Probably not, thereโs zero plans for one
from #hades-faq @cinder pike
Is Hades a multiplayer game, or are there any plans for multiplayer?
Hades is a single-player game. We have no plans to add multiplayer, as we created the gameplay and narrative of Hades with a solo experience in mind.
ok
I don't think it would work multiplayer
The whole room system is just perfect for a single player character
i have an idea for a spinoff game
windbag, messenger imp, shade
they go on a quest to do things
idk just take the cute entities from each installment and make a co-op game out of it
theres no way to turn down settings in hades, right? i enjoy playing it, but i gotta keep the desk fan pointed at my laptop at all times just to keep it from overheating....
You can play on a lower resolution setting but I think that's about it. If your laptop is heating a lot, try cleaning it thoroughly; it would need to be disassembled for that. The dust is a laptop's biggest enemy. Also, consider upgrading the laptop if possible, I did it with my 10-year old laptop (new processor, more RAM, SDD) and it helped a lot, however, there's a limit of how much you can upgrade and sometimes it might not be worth it...
hmn...
ok, thanks
i need to set aside some time then to back up all my files before i even think about opening up my laptop
yea, some things can go wrong when disassembling on your own. First time I did that I disabled my keyboard and bluetooth... didn't really need it that much though, got external keyboard anyway and who needs bluetooth ๐
maybe ill just settle for playing hades in short bursts then, lol
maybe even set up outside on my lil balcony as winter gets closer
now that's Extreme Measures...
also propping it up or getting a stand for it
yes, making sure the vent holes are not covered
Which game should I play next after I'm finished with Hades, Bastion or Transistor?
Saying that I probably won't be finished with Hades for a good while longer, definitely the best game I've played this year
I'd choose Bastion. Is the closest in terms of gameplay to Hades
I prefer bastion as well personally, game-feel and story wise though I do love the cyberpunk genre
Pyre because it's exactly like Hades minutes the voice acting. You have to read everything!
i really love
storyteller in all those games
and I was really suprised how he look
Transistor is one of my favourite games of all time so... there's my vote ^^ @wind sage
hmm
I like them all
but
if i must choose one i would choose anything
or no
The most memories i have with pyre
and probably it was my first play of those all games
As much as I love the gameplay, breathtaking art, and amazing tracks by Darren in all of the games, whenever Ashley Barrett comes into the mix, it's always a highlight for me. I can't begin to explain how much I love vocal songs of SuperGiant Games, so that makes an easy choice for me ๐ Not sure if Transistor is technically the "best" game but it will be the one that sticks with me for the rest of my life โค๏ธ
hmm
so
you have sentiment to transistor ,because of her vocal
hmm
i can agree about her great voice
It's not just the vocals, though. The way the whole soundtrack is implemented makes the game something absolutely special. More than the sum of all the amazing parts if you will ^^
none of them are technically the best, they're all great, and everyone will have different preferences and have their own personal reasons why one of them is their favorite.
like in first throw to game and game hitted you with first song/soundtrack (i know how much bad is my english)
yeah
+1 @glad bay
I don't think they made perfect game ,but their standards are very high and i approve that
Their sound tracks are fantastic!
yep
soundtracks are fantastics
and storyteller is great
i was curious about who really is this man
and when i found out i was like "Wtf i didn't imagine like that"
hey just curious, does supergiant-games need interns or anything like that?
From the Supergiant contact us page on their website @gritty wave
"We sometimes get questions about job opportunities or internships; we appreciate the interest though at the moment we aren't seeking to expand our team and don't have an internship program. We'll post an update if this changes"
honestly, they're probably good without changing anything up. They're doing fantastic work.
They almost doubled their team with the production of Hades.
as an artist, i sometimes worry about there being "too many chiefs in the kitchen" but their work on Hades is OUT OF THE PARK
I love this game so much
me to
I'd like to especially commend the writer(s) of Hades. I think the way you voiced the gods to be excellent.
That's Greg taking credit
While obviously the voice talent is prevalent, the content of the lines is also just so good
yea, i don't think we have the time to go through everything about it that makes it so great. I wouldn't want to make you guys read a whole essay. lol
so how does the score in Hades hold up to previous SGG scores do you reckon
Imo itโs objectively the best, and thatโs from someone who doesnโt play it much anymore. The devs incorporated all theyโd learned into it and made a solid product with longevity
I was referring to the music only, but I agree, Hades feels like a culmination of all of SGG's work so far.
I think I would say the same for the hades score honestly lmao, though pyre has some slappers and bastionโs ending tunes are incredible. Transistor too, but I didnโt bop to it as much as the other options
Hades' score is amazing! ...it's also my least favourite from SGG
yeah, that's pretty much how I feel
See, there is no "objective" they're all great for varying reasons and we will all enjoy them differently for different reasons. ๐
Their is objectivity however that has nothing to do with how much or why someone enjoys a game/ost etc.
Eh, art is extremely subjective. There are objective measurements. But objective measurement doesn't make some thing better or worse, just different.
exactly, which is pretty much what I said
Darren Korbs music is objectively awesome, Jen Zee is objectively amazing, and Ashley Barrett is objectively the best ๐
Agreed
fax
to date transistor is the only game thatโs made me so emotional i cried, in no small part due to to darren korbโs songwriting ability and ashley barrettโs incredible vocals
and jen zee is far and away my favourite artist
that ending...
Hade's art definitely feels like an evolution of their previous games
Bastion is their first game and i think IT s game made by 'sprites'
I don't know if this is the right place to ask (maybe I should email them instead?), but are the folks at Supergiant considering opening a UK location/warehouse for their store? I would love to buy some merch (the Zag poster specifically is super dope) but the shipping is absolutely killer (I'm in Europe).
they were looking into european suppliers or distributors or something a little while ago
so hopefully shipping prices will drop
awesome
here's hoping
my new apartment definitely needs some Supergiant posters
That would be cool if you could get them in a Multi Picture Canvas.
Does anyone else wish there was an official Supergiant coloring book? Not that I could do half as well as Jen Zee in coloring it, it's just that the artstyle would really lend itself to a fun (instead of fiddly) book. Or pdf of printables ๐
well i do now
@civic idol
Did you work on hades? Or have a good understanding of it
@grave island
Can i ask something
What's up?
Ok so
Ive given nectar to every god from olympus except zeus
And now zeus like never ever appears in my runs
is this a mechanic
or do i have bad luck
Nope, sounds like bad RNG
I see ok
Ive had zeus once in the past 6 or so runs and that was from charon mystery bag
y'know, you could have just asked any regular player of Hades that too
I think for Hades it's just that I miss Grungy/Trip-hop Darren xD
Hades' soundtrack huh. I feel like I remember the instruments more than the music. The only tracks that come to mind are the title track and variations, and the track in the first area. The first thing that hits on the title screen is what I assume is a lute, and it's the instrument for the game.
Hades has a lot more leifmotifs than Bastion or Transistor it feels like. I haven't played Pyre yet so I can't tell you about that
Maybe to me that has to do with how memorable the tracks are. A lot of them just play in the background without any significant moment to them.
Like, Hades (the character) has a leitmotif which is the tune that plays when you die in a run
which you see all over the place
I can remember a few of the tracks from Bastion, some of the tracks from Transistor like Forecast, Old Friends, Gateless and of course the voiced tracks come to mind. In Pyre, you got a few too, Never to Return has many variations.
I guess it's difficult to have the same level of control over what emotion music is supposed to elicit when a good part of the game unravels in the way it does.
Most of the game you're just beating dudes
But Hades' OST will never be as memorable to me as say, The Binding of Isaac's Danny B soundtrack. But who knows, maybe with time?
who knows indeed
I feel like they focused a lot on the gameplay loop for Hades and it really shows
I've felt the same way about this soundtrack. It's solid! But it's very background for the bulk of the time. I'm guessing longterm playlist entries will be There's No Escape and the Lament. Though I finally beat the fourth boss, and the track after that was darn nice.
Okay, maybe the alternative version of There's No Escape played later.
wasn't expecting such a huge discount on all the games, but I'm incredibly grateful for it.
yee i grabbed pyre finally
yep, Bastion and Transistor are 80% off, Pyre is 70% off
Is there any plan for a sale on PS4?
But you can gift them
I have all their games on Steam and Switch as well. I kind of want to triple dip for my fiancรฉe to play some.
but i dont have friend interested in those game
But was holding off since sales started on other platforms.
I wasn't interested in these games until my friend gifted me transistor
hmm
Now I'm gifted them to more friends xD
they haven't announced any sales for ps4 afaik
just pc and switch
since that's what hades is on
To be honest transistor was my first game from SGG because he was free
then was pyre because it was in orgin acces
next was bastion which i boughtt and hades
bought too
@stone relic Yeah, I get that. I don't want to stop playing Hades to let her play my Switch. lol
completely understandable
Though we can always play on PC, it's just less convenient to do so.
Just the setup I have at the moment. If we want to be together while gaming, PC isn't as doable.
Would rather be in the living room together.
It's a real first-world problem. haha
nah
i like be a lone wolf
aa
it was about having not an option to play together
ehh
Yeah. And we can always figure things out. Maybe we need another Switch so she could play Hades too. haha
PC's not a laptop, huh? We played Pyre on PC using the TV as a big screen via hdmi cable, it works great for most games (we'll need a longer hdmi cable for the games with no pad support eventually, but for now...)
Yeah. I had a long HDMI cable running through my crawlspace from my office to my living room but it broke.
Ahoi, So i'm trying to gift some games to friends, but steam has regional restrictions.
Checked HB, which seems to have Bastion only. Any authorized sellers i can buy keys off of ?
I wonder: What is it like in the indie world since there's so many many devs in the 'indie apocalypse' and you are not one of them who goes there. But how is it to develop games all we gamers see is the finished product of 10,000 lines of code, art design made in photoshop, finished characters who once was grey mud , beautiful animations. So how is it to compete against competitors like klei, heart machine, devolver to name a few ?
Indie dev here, working on the first (unannounced) installment of our studio
ok so, stats say that a few hundred games come out per month on steam, incl big releases etc and all that and in general it seems like your title will just be lost in a sea of others
realistically speaking, most of those titles are just bad word asset flips or even stolen projects just trying to get a quick buck
let's not also forget the weird abundance of ||hentai games|| that somehow make their way to trending as well
it's more probable you are competing with say, 30 other titles or something of the sorts
fixed
ty for mentioning
anyways,
to make a game that you can claim is a "good" game does indeed take a lot of hours of hard work passion and all that
but how do indies dig out of the "apocalypse" and rise to fame and success?
have a solid game obviously, doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea
but where most studios fail imo is the business side of things
as much as we are attached to our creations as they are like our babies and we coddle and love them and show them to everyone, we just have to treat it as a product at some point if we want to survive off development
in comes marketing and all the business stuff nobody really talks about
i can't play your game that you've poured thousands of hours on if i don't even know it exists, know what i mean
an average AAA production game will most likely spend more than half of its budget just on marketing, and the rest on the actual development of the game
trailers, product crossovers, articles, this and that
but as indies with a budget of breadcrumbs we don't have the guns to compete with the likes of EA and Activision when it comes to marketing
thus the question is raised: how do i advertise my game as an indie?
many indie studios (incl supergiant, especially with their first title bastion) usually have some niche portion of the market they go for
a small chunk of the gaming community that really likes one specific thing
my team is compromised of mostly metalheads for example, thus our game's premise material soundtrack everything is geared towards that audience (also not many games with upfront metal OST exist, other than doom remakes and brutal legend which is more of a parody but eh those are details)
to keep things a bit short because the text wall is real:
Find your niche, one that you as a dev are part of as well, then interact with that community a lot. Have a Twitter, post updates. Have a YT, post devlogs and go in depth as to what is going on behind the scenes. Have a discord server (much like this one) for people that like your game(s) to congregate and interact with
There's also things such as events and conventions (pre covid) that are great for exposure as well
After that point comes dropping money on some marketing to really get your game out there
once you've done all that, just cross your fingers and pray the game will sell well
luck is a big factor when it comes to indies
Minecraft blew up out of nowhere, Undertale blew up out of nowhere, Among Us blew up out of nowhere and that game was already out for like 2 years now
TLDR: Find a niche, make a solid game around the niche, interact with your community, have a small marketing budget, then luck
@empty halo sorry for the wall of text, hope this sheds a bit of light on some things
if there's any indie dev with more years of work under their belt than me on things feel free to comment on anything i've said
What kinda genre are you developing the game of@vale leaf
it's a...roguelike?
it's kinda like an arena brawler thing
it's a bit difficult to put it under a genre
basically fight your way out of a coliseum (sounds familiar)
itt sounds like sword and sandals
So trial and error with instrumental metal and swords ?
It is! Looks like it went a little wild. ๐ For further discussion on game dev theory or projects in progress, it can head over to the general chat or video games chat. ๐
And if you're drunk - make sure to hydrate!
I just picked up pyre. And, i am at a loss for words, honestly. You guys make incredible games.
Correction, i really should say art. Forgive the pretention.
Hey is there a repository of HQ images for Supergiant Games? I want to use some as wallpapers
That's it. 100% achievements in Hades... meaning I've gotten all achievements in all 4 games. I've got a few bonds to deepen, and heat to explore, but I think I'm gonna take a break from hell. Maybe a run of all 4 in order?
@limpid ledge Congratulations!
hey does anyone know if theres official merch for transistor? i saw the announcement for hades merch but im just curious if theres any official stuff for the former :0
transistor is one of my fave supergiant games so i'd love to get something for it ;;;
as far as I know, all the merch there is can be found here https://store.supergiantgames.com/
Thanks @rain anchor! Means a lot from you!
listening to some Hades soundtrack at school ๐ค
so many big channels on twitch playing Hades and getting introduced to SG!! so glad the team is getting the recognition they deserve
totalbiscuit's original "WTF" of bastion got me into supergiant games โค๏ธ
Yo I just wanna thank Supergiant for putting out Hades. My neck of the woods got blasted by Hurricane Laura and running through the Underworld is keeping me sane while the net is out.
so many big channels on twitch playing Hades and getting introduced to SG!! so glad the team is getting the recognition they deserve
@neon kayak it's a weird thing this remote-pride isn't it? I also keep looking at twitch's Browse and holy moly finally seeing a SGG up in the top spots (like they would all deserve) is amazing
@knotty arch yep, its unreal to see them being talked about everywhere in the gaming world. about time!
I figure if ever there was a place to try and find this, I figure this has to be it; I'm looking for a particular video. It was one of those 'every time the McElroys say 'boy' in monster factory' but it was all Supergiant. I've been looking for it, but for some reason, it stubbornly eludes me. Does anyone know where I could find it?
||https://isixdream.tumblr.com/post/178790235793/every-time-they-say-boy-in-monster-factory-except|| @halcyon sparrow i got you
Every time they say boy in Monster Factory except itโs Supergiant Games
Boy
i bought all the SG games and finished the story of hades and bastion. should i play now pyre or transistor first?
i suggest transistor, for release order
ok thanks
Same. Progression and also it's shorter.
i have a store question. anyone know the best way to inquire about something Supergiant Store related?
oh wait, nevermind. found my answer
for future reference the best way to inquire about something supergiant store related is either sending an email to 'info@supergiantgames.com' or through the 'contact us' page on the supergiant website @lusty copper
thanks. yeah dummy me not seeing the blurb at the bottom of the email saying as much haha.
no worries
thx for crash supergiant games๐ญ
last night i had a dream i taking a hades-themed quiz for one of my classes and i got to a question about ||demeter|| and i had to describe where to find her and what her boons do and i was freaking out bc i haven't met her yet
Lagging behind on the big fandom everyone's talking about is its own kind of tiny anxiety ๐
Hey guys, do we know if Hades is going to be apart of a Limited Run or Signature Physical Edition yet?
@cursive galleon
I NEED a physical copy of this game!
Hey, we have no plans for a physical version of Hades at this time. We put everything we've got into our v1.0 launch and once we're finished supporting this launch, we'll figure out what's next. Thank you for your interest.
AWESOME! Thanks for replying!
@upper veldt I pinged you in anther channel, but if you lost progress in a run it can be recovered. If you're regularly crashing, check out #h1-tech-fixes and then #h1-tech-support for help
I'm making a smash moveset for every Supergiant protagonist and you cannot stop me
Zagreus is gonna be hard tho cause I haven't played Hades yet...but I got the game recently so
ooh what's this
Zagreus moveset

I might have to replay all the games to get an idea of what to use
best of luck!
And then once the movesets are set in stone I'll make a video form/animation thing to better show them off (maybe)
Thank you!
Anyone got a source for the discord banner art?
Just learning about the game and curious to hear from Supergiant
[Question] Why only port to Nintendo's Switch and not Xbox or PS4? What factored into making that decision?
to get a more guaranteed reply i'd suggest contacting sgg directly by going on their site and clicking the 'contact us' button
they may also port to other consoles later, although there's no guarantee
This might also answer your question a bit, especially this part:
We're fortunate to have our own tech and tools, which are tailored to the individuals on our team and help us make games with a distinct feel. But one of the downsides is that porting that tech to other platforms is not as easy as we'd like. With Hades, we suspected from the start that we'd want to bring the game to Nintendo Switch, and planned for it early and made tons of technical changes to make it possible (and even then it was a Herculean / Heraclean task for our engineering team) https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/ixri6b/we_are_supergiant_games_creators_of_hades_pyre/g68jji3?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

just saw bastion, transistor & hades were all included in the latest nintendo news article on the switch, recommending games with good soundtracks. really cool to see them all up there, curious if supergiant games organise with nintendo to make stuff like that happen, or if it'd all be off the back of whatever the staff at nintendo think
sgg games are often in the top digital sales
bastion and transistor ware, even before hades hit Switch
this might be a long shot, but does anyone remember how many words greg said he wrote for hades? wasn't it somethin like 30k?
I think there's 30k lines.
yeah i don't remember what he said, i know he mentioned it in a q&a thing but those have been deleted
i also know th 1.0 update had 3k new lines -- am i blind
oh my gods
oh my gods
๐ thank you
๐
okay i scoured all th answers from th last q&a n i can't find th answer i'm lookin for. i am admittedly kinda tired so i'll look again tomorrow
could also be in the noclip docs

Giving Hades and Supergiant some love here! (Real pity they aren't nominated for Best Audio, because I think they deserved to be there too.)

sup gang the g7/f in good riddance is wayyy easier if you play it at xx34x3 instead of x89x8x

@mellow stratus thanks mate, voted Hades for all categories (deservedly so)
What about a light checkpoint system ? (Like you first fight Meg and then you go to the Asphodel instead of going to Meg and have it headed to you. But then you would collect less resources and it would be a big jump from the starting area of Tartarus to Asphodel. ) But are you planning something big for 1.5 update of Hades? @Supergiant
they're only doing performance/bug fixes and then taking a break
I'm not digging through the whole ama to find the specific answer but someone quoted it on steam https://steamcommunity.com/app/1145360/discussions/0/2932364348255439431/#c2932364348255812392
I would simply say don't hold your breathe for content updates. hades is not aiming to be like other games of the genre with continual content updates
Yes but hades is a narrative game above all
it just happens to utilize roguelite mechanics, but the focus is the story
all of supergiant's titles focus on an immersive narrative experience and hades is no different in that regard
people coming into hades from other roguelikes and expecting it to deliver a similar experience (in terms of continual content) are just inherently going to come away disappointed on that front bc that's not what hades is striving for
A game can't live alone on its narrative which lasts 10 hours
It has to live on its gameplay as well. To dismiss the gameplay aspects of...y'know...the game, is harmful to the overall end product
so even if you have a strong narrative focus, a strong aesthetic, and Darren Korb writing the OST, the gameplay needs to be pushed to the forefront, which I believe Hades has done better than the previous three titles
(No offense to them)
It's a good thing the game isn't solely its narrative, then. I'm on hour 100 and still experiencing new things; to presume a developer owes me more would be wildly entitled. Be happy with the product you have in your hands.
Never said they did
I was simply arguing the fact that a game can't last on its narrative alone
Tell that to every narrative game ever released
planescape torment, every elder scrolls, every fallout game, every ___ shock game, every frictional game, every etc
a game absolutely can last on its narrative alone
iyss
I'd argue on behalf of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout if I ever played them, or the Bioshock/System Shock games
I don't even know who Frictional are
plus the gameplay is pushed to the fore in hades, i'm not really sure what your point is
hades has a strong game plus all the other things
if the narrative ends though, the gameplay still needs to be entertaining, which hades does well.
Rogue-likes, Rogue-lites and alike have different focus from and development time planned. For some, it is a big project that is being worked on for some good while, but in such case then the dev team or even one dev team sacrifice their time working on one and only project. But eventually, there is always an end to them. Every rogue-like and rogue-lite have different core mechanic in mind and how much they want to update it to point of simulation of the world or simply the replayability value.
While Hades of course isn't filled with mechanics like Caves of Qud (for example) and such, it still stands out in a lot of content that is on level and above for some well known rogues. It definitely has enough content to go for a while and make most out of it's gameplay mechanic standing well on it. Narratively wise there is quite a lot and fills a lot of time too along side with the mechanic, but even then I feel like the loop of the game is strong enough. While narrative can be ignored if you wish so, it still helps out with the problem the fact most rogue-likes and rogue-lites may miss out and that is filling out the time when you die in your run, it makes failure not that much of a chore and strengthens the loop. Supergiant explored the factor of rogues which wasn't done well enough justice I feel.
TL;DR I think Hades has enough content to keep for long enough like other rogue-lites and rogue-likes, there is no real need for updates. Supergiant Games I think wouldn't want to stuck to one project to update it forever, which a lot of devs do to make their rogues so dense and filled with content, which in turn blocks the creativity flow. While I don't think Hades can go for 1000 hours it def can go for 100-256 hours and I think that's enough for a rogue-lite. Plus Hades explores untouched aspect of rogue games, so that is a plus too.
tl;dr to the tl;dr: hades does failure better than other rogues. the game lasts for hundreds of hours without getting stale
It is also part of their design intent to look into how death is presented in games mechanically/thematically (I can't remember which interview this was from), and you can see this design intent shine in Hades, as well as Pyre. It's really very solid, top notch design at work here.
Eh what story
narrative that lasts 10 hours? man I've played the game for years and it took me longer than 10 hours and I haven't even seen it all
not to mention, like. ten hour narrative games exist, and people play them.
five hour, two hour, half hour narrative games exist and people play them
i seriously don't get this idea that gameplay is always 100% more important than story
some people only play games for the narrative
also, games can be short! i honestly prefer short games. easier to finish in a weekend and move on to something else
i'd much rather play a hand crafted two hour game than a bloated 80+ hour thing full of fetch quests
I would recommend people who play games for the narrative to focus on narrative-heavy games instead of suffering for hours through gameplay they dislike to get some breadcrumbs. But that's a separate topic I think. Considering only people who are having fun with their vidya game, the optimal combinations of length, gameplay and narrative are endless. And of course many types of storytelling are emerging that are unique to interactive media. so while they're not gameplay in any conventional sense, it's not something you can find in a book or a tv show either
The real takeaway here is that roguelites as a genre have established an expectation of post-release content updates ๐
hades has such a ridiculous amount of content anyways, more than i ever expected when i bought it in early access
yea the roguelite expectation of post launch content is kinda anxiety inducing
being a developer for one
the pro move you can pull off is to frame content that would usually be in 1.0 as post launch
game has 5 bosses on launch: eh
game that has 3 bosses on launch, but boss update 2 more bosses added
now added: trio boons
now your cast makes enemies drunk, cold, AND has a 20% crit chance
I got a little salty the other day, I lost a whole run because there was a fishing point by the shop and I accidentally bought a boon so I closed the game....but there wasn't a save before so I lost the run that was already up to river styx
live and learn lol
no, there are heaps of people who want sequels/spinoffs/prequels/whatever
iirc the team prefers to make new stuff tho
hades is one of the best games ever made
MERCH IS HERE
The bandanna is so nice
I'll actually hang it on my wall as a mini wall flag
I have to find a frame for the transistor poster as well and I'm set

Mmm a sequel to Bastion would be neat
Is Darren Korb here?
TYVM
hello everyone
i'm back
๐
so - i was rewatching the "building the bastion" series on giantbomb, and...
amir! where's that Terminator Tactics strategy game you promised us?
got the proof right here https://www.giantbomb.com/videos/building-the-bastion-part-04/2300-3959/?t=5m32s
@tribal meadow I don't think there was a promise there!
Hades is the best game ever
Hades best game of the year for me and my best Rogue -like so far
do we will have DLC?
i'm actually holding off on buying hades
i'm kinda short on money so i'll have to wait till christmas and buy it on a sale or something
but once i do...
i'm planning on doing a supergiant marathon
playing all the games in chronological order, back to back
ending with my first playthrough of hades
there's...
gonna be a lot of crying
do we will have DLC?
@silver abyss probably not
they're so many possibility
not to hound this topic but can there be a bit of clarification on this reply? There is currently a tweet going around with 20k retweets stating that among us/supergiant devs have said not to sell fanmerch for their games. an old tweet from 2017 is circulating where it is said that supergiant has not given permission for anyone outside of sg to sell things based on their games, so people are confused about this recent tweet in regard to what reselling original artwork means in this context, given the old 2017 tweet
https://twitter.com/SupergiantGames/status/1311786439558926336
@mewmewKL All we said was we're not OK with people reselling our original artwork.
honestly I feel really bad for supergiant rn bc while hades has seen a ton of popularity, it's also given them a lot of attention with other things and I'm wondering if it's a bit overwhelming currently :/a
This is normal that you can not sell things based on Design/ART created by SGG. It common.
Tho you for sure can create own artworks and create pins etc,** but still you can not earn money as the original design is owned by SGG.**
so is like, all the stuff on redbubble illegal?
here's the 2017 tweet I was referencing https://twitter.com/SupergiantGames/status/908913351635345408
@mochekke We love fan art but also have never given permission for someone outside our studio to sell things based on our games.

there's a lot of people still confused by the "original artwork" tweet and whether it means they can sell fan made merch based off the game or not
As far as I can tell their stance hasn't really changed since the 2017 tweet
there are a lot of people in the tweet being widely circulated rn that are pointing at the "we're not ok with people reselling our original artwork" tweet as meaning fanmerch is okay
yeah i saw that in my feed earlier today too
here's the tweet going around, I wanted to space my links so the bot wouldn't yell at me lol https://twitter.com/hampotato1/status/1313306340559781888
Reminder that InnerSloth (Among Us) and Supergiant Games (Hades) are small indie developers and DO NOT WANT PEOPLE SELLING MERCH OF THEIR GAMES!! please pass it on, let's respect their wishes!!

tbh i always err on th side of caution anyway? like if it's a small company, i'd rather buy merch from them directly
unfortunately fan communities are really bad about immediately jumping on the hype train and profiting off fan merch the moment something becomes popular, so it's unfortunate we even have to have this discussion
fanartists are cool n i absolutely support them but it feels weird t'benefit off someone else's ip when they haven't goven explicit permission
yeahhhh i've seen th hype trains
so is like, all the stuff on redbubble illegal?
@raven kettle There are many Creative licenses , there are some which allow you to download an art/design, edit it and keep as own. There are some that doesn't allow you do edit, but allow you to earn money selling it. SGG uses license that doesn't allow you to edit or use it to earn money, as well as use part of the design like character design, word design etc even when you create own design based on it to earn money. FanART is way different thing. You can create FanArt, but you can not earn money doing it, and you must state that its from the game -- I believe. Again. Best to wait for official response.
I think it would really benefit supergiant to make an official tweet about whether selling fan made merch is fine or not, it would end the confusion
especially since hades has such.. unprecedented popularity compared to their previous titles
I mean doesnt it have to follow all other copyright rules?
Bold of you to think the internet understands copyright
I mean fair
I just tried to play Transistor and man the pacing is so different from Hades
I couldnt
Might play bastion instead tho
the other games are more slower paced, hades is breakneck speed compared to them
which isn't a bad thing
bastion is a bit closer to hades though
personally i love transistor's slower, more deliberate pacing
Transistor is more like game with active-pause
