It’s a very good weapon though it does have a pretty sizable skill floor to learn how to effectively use the blood triads

It does decent by just spamming omega attack or getting final slice but your best damage by a massive margin is learning how to effectively use blood triads

Required movement knowledge and stuff to make good use of it

The sheer amount of monkey brain “OOH COOL SOUND AND BIG NUMBER” when I play it is unmatched in this game

It recently became my second weapon to clear 62 fear with and the only reason it took so long is because it’s very rough to use against rivals Chronos

Like 80% of my runs would make it to chronos with loads of time to spare but I’d manage to hamster away a death

That that too learning the timing on tentacle spins, Roxy, and the fact it can just randomly decide to not hit Scylla

The amount of hits I’d take from standing directly in front of Scylla and still being blocked was BS

Best way to hit Scylla with the Oattack sometimes is to hit someone else and let the extra pulses hit her LMAO

Hearing “Chronos is not a Morrigan friendly boss” from probably the single best Morrigan player in the world is very validating to the fact I kept dying to him

i kinda have the attack combo down but i keep like doing attack -> special -> end attack sequence-> oattack and the end attack sequence thing gets me hit which is not nice

So the sequence is to get close

Special, attack, then charge Oattack and dash back while charging

Eternity arcana is VERY strong on Morrigan for this purpose

But the reason you get close then dash back is so when you teleport behind the enemy and activate blood triad the special then goes through them a second time as it’s following you

Howling Soul gets worse the higher you get in fear because of Wards and because you often want your cast as a safety tool first and foremost, Howling Soul and other ranged casts can make the cast less fluid to use

But at the same time Howling Soul can greatly increase your damage with Storm Ring on bosses because it sticks to bosses, so I still like it in certain situations

Conversely, Life Tax and Deep Dissent get better the higher you get in fear because less or none of Life Tax will be wasted because of other sources of healing existing, while Deep Dissent greatly reduces the difficulty of Rivals Chronos

While Gigaros Dash and Unseen Ire are always good no matter the difficulty level

I’ve started resetting less and I’ll take literally any other hades boon for a start because howling soul is the only one that makes me actively worse

At least something like Grudge or Dissent will be good to have at the end and I don’t need to get lucky for it

But howling soul means “oh you missed your cast guess you’re not safe, have fun”

Normal Chronos is pretty easy to wantler relatively. Rooms leading up aren't terrible on Pain 0 since nothing can one-shot you long as you're at full health but still can be stressful

First time playing in a month and starting with 17 heat or wtv it is in hades 2

First tip is just learning what doors to take that will always just outright save time

Always taking NPC doors (except hades cause he raises the room count which causes longer encounters), shops and chaos
Often avoiding double boon chambers since they take longer but the extra boons can still potentially save time

Always taking warden in fields when it first appears

Learning boss setups for whatever weapon you’re playing

Just being capable of clearing encounters at a good pace can easily get you under a 8 minute underworld with some minor effort and not even that good of RNG

Tranquil gain is decent if you have a lot of max magick

Then ionic and tough gain are just outright ass but those are already just the worst gains in the game

build wise you can do a lot of different things for those weapons, i'm a huge fan of doing oattack artemis build with fine line from hera and other stuff but you can just play do a regular build with flat dmg effects that are good for any blade aspect

coat too, so you want something like poseidon attack for example

Yeah staff probably has the most equal spread of any weapon for how good each aspect is

3 great aspects and one pretty solid one just cause it shares staff moveset even if the aspect bonus isn’t that amazing

Skull is very powerful but does take a bit for most players to pick up cause of how differently it plays to so much of the roster

I definitely am still very sloppy at skull for high fear

Skull is the only weapon with all 4 aspects both routes

Anubis the only staff with both routes unseeded and verified

Genuinely surprised Mel staff hasn’t done it unseeded but it probably struggles to reach the damage requirements of surface

Normal enemies in Olympus having like 4000-5000HP with armor definitely doesn’t help. Mel staff dominates underworld cause dash attack dual moonshot one-shots most enemies but that’s not the case on surface

Timeouts to Olympus are the main killer of surface high fear

It’s kinda the same situation. Like you need the entire duration of a double storm ring to kill most of the enemies on surface unless you’re hard focusing them with attacks and specials at the same time

Though melting swipe is goated on Circe

The reason why weapons like skull, Moros, nergal, blades all do really well on surface is they have super strong burst damage options that can deal with high health enemies

Staff is the high fear weapon of choice just cause it’s safe but when you need a ton of damage it can struggle a bit

Meanwhile Nergal can hit psychic + Hera attack and just delete the entire room with so little effort

and for charon/than specifically unless you hit a god build that lets you use omegas(probably not happening) youre basically playing a no aspect axe

and even then omegas are rough to use without sorceress or persistence so clearing 65/67 with them is super rough

nergal only got its clear because fishing for psychic whirlwind isnt the worst thing ever and its healing works through scars

and mel axe is john dashing heave/seething marauder so also pretty strong with the right hammers along with the base power
