But “casts” applies to the effects created by the boon because the cast itself doesn’t do damage without the boon

So I was able to just eat the instakill

It gives 3 damage negations per guardian at max level

And I still had armor left and plenty of time to kill him during the black instakill

It’s definitely a choice they made that you either need to do a ton of damage ASAP or get out the way

On the Rivals version he uses it more times

And adds time stop areas to the arena

The game does provide a LOT of ways to negate it though

So long as you can make it to phase 2 with death defiances left

And if you’re really good you can also literally just dodge it with I-frames

Mm. I'm torn between pressing my Fear and keeping the number high and just going for "easy" runs going no further than necessary for Testaments until I've gotten my prophecies and relationships maxed.

I'm also torn whether to try to rush to finish the story vs. focusing on Testaments as they come up even when they're not where need go.

I'm still at the point where "a sub 20 run is a good run" (or even a win at all is decent) and haven't finished the story.

If I'm going to eventually go for high Fear I should get used to Frenzy and Rivals both...

So each tick of frenzy will mean losing like 10 runs to get used to it but then you’ll be bored without it

If you just never turn frenzy off then you’re set up for both higher fears and for speedrunning

Since fear you’d consider Frenzy 2 to be pretty essential, but absolutely required in the case of speedrunning

Since it makes EVERYTHING in regards to enemies faster

Fire Away is my personal choice for F tier UNLESS you use it in very specific circumstances

You CAN pair fire away with freezer burn for some pretty crazy damage but it’s very setup dependent

And also you’d need pyro technique or a bunch of scorch damage is gonna be wasted on invulnerability if you don’t have freezer burn

So like fire away has potential but I’ve yet to really see anybody use that potential

It’s quite good against automatons and satyrs on Olympus if you manage to get it before then

But that’s very rare

The reason why I put it in F tier is it ONLY works on stuff with projectiles, not because it isn’t good when it is being used on those specific cases

At least smolder ring and glowing coal (controlled burn on some weapons) are really good so it’s not being held back by bad boon choice requirements

If you don’t like that then play strength but DD lets you claw back a losing run through luck and such

And that’s valid. I prefer strength on fear levels I’m comfortable with but when it gets harder I absolutely prefer DD

DD lets you make mistakes a lot more than strength

i think scorch no longer critting is funny cuz now we have lv4 pyro technique which is already a multiplier

The Pom and Rarity scaling on pyro is pretty crazy

Just because of how much it uncaps the damage potential of scorch

Glamour gain with burning desire, freezer burn and pyro is still one of my favorite builds
