Chronos adds a lot of pain to the fight with instakills and the eggs are horrible if you don’t kill them fast enough

I also hate that you can’t cheese him with a Polyp from sun worshipper or night bloom

Since rivals has warden enemies from the eggs, some of which are stupidly weak like the yargonaut which only did like 360 damage per hit when I got him even with Hera godsent

Def chronos, Typhon I average 150 damage and chronos is usually closer to 300. Chronos comes down to a next hit wins a lot while I’ll only lose to Typhon if I screw up

Like scorch is usually insanely weak on axe due to low attack rate

But really strong on faster stuff

You generally will lean either into flat damage buffs for faster weapons and % buffs for harder hitting weapons

Generally Hera and Zeus are your top tier gods

And then Aphrodite and Ares kinda fall back to the bottom because their uses are a bit more niche overall

Moros is one of those weapons where almost anything works tbh

It's main utility is that it covers the entire room since you can just walk away and let it deal with the other half of the room

There's chronos with a similar build

Stuff like supay, torches, hel, coat, staff, and blades have a lot of small fast attacks

And so it applies full flat damage to every one of them

Flat damage you can use on stuff like axe special if you don't plan to use ospecial so it's pretty strong on melinoe axe

Moros is one that can work pretty well with either % or flat on attack but on special likes flat damage

Though really you can do anything on torches special

Only one I'd say is not great on special is apollo or aphro

Hel is some of the most fun I've had but it has its drawbacks, namely that it's strongest ability has one of the slowest charge times in the game and leaves you super vulnerable

Stand under his chin for 80% of the fight and only back off when he goes to chin slam, shoot his eye, or those tentacles come up

The big laser can't hit you while you're under his chin unless you get an unfortunate push-back

But you can just dodge at him to negate the push

I'd say he's harder than chronos but not by a wide margin

Yeah if you can survive without getting hit during first phase chronos you can use lovers arcana to tank the instakill for free damage

You’re holding yourself back since two of the best keepsakes in the game are locked to post-credits

And another that is situational but still quite good

doing zag dialogues at the start, beating chronos was still kinda challenging
then now im just doing fear runs and using it to "de-stress" from surface attempts

Surface is pretty intimidating between how much of a stress Thessaly can be and some of the crazy BS that happens in Olympus and the summit

Ephyra is nice though, makes build crafting really easy since you can just reset if you don’t like what you see on the buffet

I’d say overall the underworld rivals bosses are harder but the surface base bosses are harder. I’ve choked an embarrassing number of times on Prometheus from being too aggressive

If you get better with Moros you can start doing the normal special combo instead of relying on ospecial

I’d say Hera attack and gain, heph dash, and maybe take ares just for cut above since coffin nail is really strong on torches

Hera gain is good on torches because it gives you a really high ceiling for magick if you choose to go for fine line

You can take ares cast just so you can get fourth degree if you want that

I’d say don’t bother trying to go for incandescent aura just since it’s limited with hera gain since it activates so rarely and cardio gain wouldn’t quite be good enough to offset it

Other option is to take ares attack and gain and go for sanguinary savor

And take Hera cast for incandescent

By that I mean throwing out some attacks then dashing into them with special to explode all of them. It’s faster on lone targets than sitting there channeling ospecial or killing them with just normal attacks

Yeah underworld skill barrier is a lot lower than surface since so many enemies can just delete you if you’re not paying attention

And a lot of enemies just die in one or two hits on underworld

Once you get the flow of left click right click you can kinda just blaze through everything if you're not playing with fear (and I think with controller the method is to slide your thumb from attack to special)

underworld you just have to be somewhat aware of your surroundings
mostly just not losing defiances in earlier guardians

Scylla I can just turn my brain off half the time on everything other than luring jetty to come over near the other sirens

i either charge several or dont charge anything at all

I did a singular clear with it and never used it again

Medea just makes me feel bad at the game

Because every instance is a skill check to see if you’re paying attention to enemy attacks before you run face first into a fist

Moros is easily top 3 speed aspects

Yeah top 3 for speed is usually Medea, Moros, Charon as far as I’m aware

Since Medea has insane mobility and damage, Moros is a bit slower but makes up for it in damage, and Charon just turns the entire room into an atomic bomb with super nova

Actually I wasn’t even aware

The second fastest underworld any fear right now is Medea skull, then Mel coat, then Mel skull

Honestly the any-fear leaderboards is pretty diverse

Exceptional talent Charon is absolutely insane especially if you double it up with giga cleaver

Being able to turn the entire room into instant explosion casts is broken as hell

It lasts so damn long you can run around the room just dropping casts on enemies, especially if you get lightning lance which was so fun the last time I got that

Hmm there's a change this might be unintended / a bug. I have a long Witches Mark (+50% to moves for 2 guardians the facto lasting till the end of the run) and I was offered another one anyway, a normal one that would only last 6 encounters. As a test I bought it knowing fully it was worse to see what would happen. It indeed remplaced the 'for the run' Witchers Mark with a 6 encounter only one thatll expire before Chronos.

If its not a bug, well, I guess we need to pay attention anytime we have a long-duration bonus to not buy it again.

Ideally I would simply not offer it if you already have it active.

Randomly contemplating just how incredibly different having Arcana is in this game vs. no Arcana

The Unseen card alone is just such an absurd difference as to almost make an entirely different game with vs. without it

Depending on your build it can be like, the single most impactful card by like orders of magnitude

...I suppose this depends somewhat on how fast you're clearing rooms though too

I'm probably speaking too much from a slowrunner perspective there, hah

Unseen is a very bad card that you should never pick

it's 5 grasp for meh magic regen, which will be pointless once you pick virtually any gain boon

Now imagine what happens when you ditch Unseen for any other 5-cost

IMO it's pretty decent magic regen and does a lot to carry if you don't get a decent Gain within the first few boons.

It also means if your first gain offerings are Demeter's or Poseidon's (unless Poseidon's is WAY better than I'm realizing) you aren't stuck with either of those lol.

only Ares and Heph gains are worse than Unseen, so just don't pick those, this is a non-issue, just wait maybe 3-5 rooms until you get a gain boon

5 grasp is a lot and is better spent on much stronger arcana

It would, but that means you're trading off either 5 Grasp of other utility cards, Boatman, or Origination. All three of which will provide far more value on every run, not just ones that focus on your Omegas

Basically, you can look at it this way. Origination at rank 3 is 50% global damage. Boatman at rank 3 is 300 gold, which is 2 shop boons without Vow of Debt and 1 shop boon with it. Both of those are a far more important power spike than 10 MP/sec that doesn't even work while channeling

I don't think there is a good reason to hold off on hades 2, and I don't think there is any major updates planned.

It's similar to Hades 1, but has slightly tweaked the enemy attack style and the weapons and the boons and everything about hades 1... it's like a continuation or evolution of about everything in hades 1, such that it feels very fresh, and even if you are good at hades 1 hades 2 will throw you a loop and will be difficult again.

Play either game, they are both master pieces.

but yeah anyways my best recommendation for you right now is to stop trying to force breaker rush if you feel like it makes you play out of your comfort zone

the breaker rush playstyle is very different from the base staff playstyle, so it requires a ton of practice getting cast timings down to maximize breaker rush value

the melee requirement also adds a ton of risk that you don't need to worry about if you just play chicken

One of the best keepsakes for final region (for mortals who can't survive Antler) since it usually ticks down to 25% or 20% by final boss which is still solid
