And what I mean is you're sitting in the truck looking at the camera and you want to switch between which camera it is and record but there's no way to do that quickly because you have to slide the cursor across the screen

Maybe a bunch of people who normally don't play much came back on for the event or bought it in Christmas sale

Also I was just playing and I was so confused. It was NM and onryo, and T3 firelight. Blew out 3, 1 earlier when it was the only one lit, then later when two were lit it blew them both out consecutively. But no hunt

I went to rule it out but then this XXer was explaining that the 3 count resets?

I thought it HAD to hunt after every 3rd candle unless there was a 4th candle there

Onryo will attempt a hunt every 3rd blowout unless it can't due to smudge timer, hunt cooldown, setup time, or no one being in the house. In these cases the ability attempt is canceled and the cycle repeats normally.

right, it's a mess, so inevitably you don't get a good count. Onryo blows out someone's lighter, there's an extra flame that cancels the hunt, etc. Something happens that throws off your count. That's why the 20s method is so much easier

Yeah ghosts will attempt to blow out a T3 firelight after its been turned on for a total 30s the first time it's lit, is my understanding, so you can have it on for say 28s, turn it off, then turn it back on when the ghost is nearby (e.g. during a hunt) to instantly give it a chance to blow it out.

That's my understanding.

but I don't see that being useful for Onryo so much as Shade during hunts and the firelight objective

Me and my friend had very weird demon, it was throwing things in basement but apparently it wasn't his room based on time in detailed report. It closed exit doors several times (lock icon), but we didn't hear slamming and locking sound. One time, when I was in basement, my flashlight started blinking, but I didn't hear anything but after few seconds I saw hovering hammer in front of my face, my friend in truck said it was long 10 and thought it was hunt (yea, doors were closed). Detailed report said we had 4 hunts, but how? We weren't aware it was hunting 4 times (no slamming doors, no footsteps, no loud heartbeat) and both survived, was it some kind of weird bug?

hear me out you light 3 T2 firelights and get them to blow out at the 30 second mark but right before they blow out you light a 4th one and if the 4th one gets blown out immediately after the 3 others do (if you’re lucky) it would be an Onryo because the 4th firelight would bypass the 30 second timer confirming it’s an Onryo

longer answer: Focus on learning the game. The more you know the smoother levels will be. Play the hardest difficulty you can do reliably. Avoid dying above all else. Once you hit lvl 50 Custom unlocks and you've got tons of options for grinding XP.

misread, well then that' the first thing to work on: managing your sanity

being higher level won't keep your sanity up or keep the ghost from hunting/finding/killing you

Stay in the light more, in the dark less. Keep the ghost's room dark but spend more time in the next room over in the light. Run in to check things it does or try spirit box.

Locate hiding spots early in the game, so if a ghost does hunt, you have a plan for where to go.

There’s two ways: Mares will never turn on any light source, literally only light that can be activated by the Mare is the Motion Sensor light.

The second way is to perform a “Mare test”, in which you make sure the ghost is within 4 meters of a light switch, which can be done using Motion Sensors to help pin down where it is. Next, you want to flick the switch. The Mare has a secret ability in which it can instantly turn off a light switch that a player turns on, but it has to be within 4 meters of the switch. Now, this can be confused for any other ghost, since it could be a coincidence and literally any ghost can do that. So it’s best to perform that test at least a few times, and if they all succeed, it’s very likely the ghost is a Mare.

When possible, try to point them in an area where the ghost is most likely to roam through (ex: doorway). If you're in an open room, then try to crisscross them to cover as much area as possible.
