The Oni can not do an air ball however the event sound is the same as when any ghost event touches you.

do you think at some point they will re-explore how we introduce new players to the game? 😅 I have been bringing new friends into the game and the balance of objectives you can't complete (because you don't have the equipment) + limited maps + tier 1 equipment + the slowness of amateur/intermediate makes it a rough start for people. Wondering if it might be useful to start with tier 2 equipment at least to start or some adjustment to the way all of those elements I just mentioned balance

The ghosts get more active, sanity drains faster, and I believe the ghosts are slightly faster. Like a normal round, but faster. You get a 10% reward bonus though

I think when it comes to new people, just try to answer their questions as best as possible, how does something work? why did that happen? what does this mean? It might not be the best solution but I do think it's a good start

That's a great suggestion, thank you! I have tried doing this with them, but I found that a lot of them get frustrated trying to learn so many things when the difficulty means the ghost doesn't trigger evidence as easily & the equipment is low enough that it doesn't capture it. So they aren't getting the chance to really explore the game and the fun struggle parts

Because I do agree with Andrea. Struggle is part of the fun, I just think its not super new person friendly haha

i think the lack of equipment is good due to it being less overwhelming for new players, and it being low tier gear might be beneficial for the first prestige to have t3 and beyond p1, tier 1, 2, and so fourth

but it's also good that we have a ton of ppl in lfg for new players, maybe a cute little "join the discord to find other gamers" would be nice to have on the opening screen rather than the discord icon idk

Hey if you don't know about the Cheat sheet check it out for ghost speeds and how to identify abilities in and out of a hunt.
Sometimes I record the ghost hunting (WITHOUT LINE OF SIGHT) then play it back trying to match it to the speed of ghosts with speed changes.

Well the way I see it is that it doesn't need to do the exact same thing as the bug, but instead it just goes into DOTS mode whenever it blinks. If it runs through a DOTS sensor while hunting, it'd look like this: Visible -> DOTS -Visible -> DOTS.

No, however the further away you are from the ghost room, the less likely it will spawn on you (unless it's a stalker ghost like wraith, phantom and banshee). Something else you can do is when you're within hunting range, keep a lighter and incense on you so that you can protect yourself.

I am trying to learn some of the advanced stuff of the phasmophobia, I actually suck at the game but I want to be able to run 0 evidence but weekly reminded me I am not qualified for that so if anybody can understand ghost speeds I have plenty of questions lol

Well, if you combine a few tests you can do before the ghost hunts, and if you really pay attention to their behaviors during hunts, then I'd say roughly half of the ghosts are easily identifiable.

There's only a handful of them that I personally would really have trouble identifying.

Almost all ghosts have the same blink pattern: visible-invisible-visible-invisible. Exceptions are the Phantom: visible-invisible-invisible-visible-invisible-invisible and the Oni: visible-visible-invisible-visible-visible-invisible. So, if the ghost is invisible most of the time during a hunt, it’s a Phantom. If it’s visible most of the time during a hunt it’s an Oni. If it’s about 50-50, you have to determine based on speed or other factors.

Another fun fact about the Poltergeist: It is forced to throw at least one object every 0,5 seconds, as long as there is an object in range to throw.

So, why did my Revenant not give me freezing temps? Are those rng too now? I thought it was a Thaye because I waited for like 8 minutes for temp to drop and it stayed the whole time above zero. Never once went below zero. It also never spoke through spirit box. Had orb, and writing. So, I figured must be a Thaye then. Nope, it was a Revenant. How? Why did temps not drop?

I just figured it was a Thaye not going into dots state and called it good. Guess temps are rng too now...

If you're playing with 2 evidence, that could explain why the Revenant never left any freezing temperatures. Same thing with the Banshee and the orbs.

If you're level 50+ you can make a custom difficulty which you can set to Professional but with only 2 evidence, hence my question.

Which map are you playing on? I believe on certain maps there are bugs and/or glitches that certain evidence are not displayed.

I've never personally gotten any orbless ghosts when there should be orbs. But I've gotten a few ghosts that never showed their third evidence, so I had to use my knowledge of their behaviors to determine the ghost based off hunts, instead.

The three I prefer the most. Hate Nell's diner. Map feels bugged to hell.

I see. I don't like Willow much so I tend to play Tanglewood, Ridgeview or Edgefield.

On normal games Willow is fine, but I'm not very familiar with the unofficial hiding spots so when I'm playing with little to no hiding spots I tend to have trouble not being violated by the ghost.

Edgefield is another I play too. I've had I think an orbless hantu it was on Ridgeview. Then a Hantu that had orbs glicking in and out of furniture on Ridgeview too. Orbless Raiju on Edgefield. Then orbless banshee on tanglewood. Then the Obake with orbs glicking in and out of ceiling on Willow.

I mean, issues with orbs doesn't happen A LOT but it happens just enough to be noticeable in my opinion. I know others have also had issues with them glitching in and out walls, floors, ceilings, furniture or just not showing up. People can argue and say it doesn't happen. However, that'd be survivorship bias because if it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it hasn't happened to others.

It's happened a few times to me. I have a 30 minute game recorded where I stayed only to visually see freezing and it never happened. I reported it as a bug because obviously that's not right and everyone jumps to saying no it's intended the ghost roams.

"The ghost roams", yet they never consider how they know the ghost roamed. Nobody can definitively point out that the ghost did roam or if the ghost roamed. For all we know, it did stay in the room. Furthermore, normally even if it did roam you'd assume that if you check often that you'd at one point catch the temps being freezing. I'd argue that a ghost continuously showing roam behavior is a bug because the ghost is actively processing a state that's supposed to be possibly rng based.

Yeah you could probably tell with motion sensors but freezing temps shouldn't be so slow to happen that one roam prevents you from ever seeing it

To word it more precisely: if multiple behavior states are defined, a ghost repeatedly triggering the roam state would indicate an issue. More specifically, this would point to a flaw in the logic or state-transition handling rather than intended behavior. Additionally, if freezing temperatures do not occur even after an extended period, for example six minutes, which is typically how long most players wait, that would further suggest a problem with the underlying mechanics.

A ghost roaming briefly, for example for one minute, could be normal behavior. However, roaming continuously for four or more minutes with no freezing temperatures indicates a state-transition issue and/or another underlying logic error. The AI in that scenario would appear to remain in the roam state instead of transitioning back to its room-bound behavior.

@edgy pilot So, for people to argue against you and say you are wrong about a bug with temps and behavior is absolutely absurd.

It may not even be a single isolated bug. It could just as easily be a case of poorly structured or tightly coupled code, where messy state handling leads to inconsistent behavior. That would explain why these issues keep surfacing.

And this is not an isolated case either. In fact, there are multiple long standing inconsistencies in Phasmophobia that point to broader state and logic handling issues. Such examples include ghost orbs failing to appear because they spawn inside walls or furniture, DOTS evidence not triggering despite correct placement and conditions, ghosts failing to interact with evidence states consistently, temperatures behaving inconsistently across rooms, and pathing or positioning issues where ghosts get stuck or behave erratically. When taken together, these patterns are far more indicative of underlying logic or state management problems than intended behavior. Yet people continue to deny these issues simply because they have not experienced them personally. That is survivorship bias. Many of these problems are well documented by the community, and it is unreasonable that the player base remains so divided over their existence. It is even more concerning that several of these issues have persisted since early versions of the game without being clearly addressed.

If you play the game you've had times where freezing is incredibly inconsistent. The "bug" is that inconsistency can sometimes rng it's way into never showing freezing over the course of 30 minutes.

quick question to all, me and my friend are doing farmhouse id card, the ghost was indeed a goryo, however. the ghost roamed out of the upstairs master bedroom baathroom (its favorite room) to the master bedroom itself, and i do not mean just roam by doing activity in the mbedroom, it changed the temperature from 8celcius down to 2celcius, almost as if it switched ghost room, is this even possbile or was this a bugged goryo
