I’m not personally very skilled when it comes to looping, I don’t really go by any rules, I just go with the flow tbh. If I feel the ghost is getting too close for comfort, I smudge. I can do (near) perfect loops, though.

What you can do, is if you’re playing in a map with lots of LOS breaking points, such as Edgefield, you can learn to play around them in order to perform certain tests.

also peek spots, and maps with glass doors allow you to see the ghost without it seeing you

Although, if you’re trying to perform Obake test, then those LOS breakers aren’t that useful in my opinion. Unless you get lucky enough that the ghost shapeshifts during the brief moment you can see it before you break LOS.

I have a question on ghosts: If you set a motion sensor up next to a DOTS Projector and the ghost sets it off, will the ghost also be guaranteed to show up on DOTS projector assuming it can physically (as in, not just through camera)?

Lost to a Yokai that simply never set off DOTS Projector in the whole session, even if it walked through a motion sensor placed right near the DOTS

Short answer: no. Longer answer: Ghosts with DOTS go in and out of a "DOTS state" during which they can be seen with a DOTS projector. So normally they're just invisible and hitting a motion with a DOTS Projector on it doesn't rule out DOTS evidence

That was a 30-ish minute session and it just never did

maybe unlucky, maybe bad setup. When ghosts are visible, that's their actual position. So it's a matter of having the DOTS set up where the ghost physically is at the moment it goes into DOTS State, and ofc be watching.

So if it was roaming a lot, bad DOTS state RNG, etc, it can work against you

Well. Today's a weird day for me. I am playing on Nightmare difficulty. I got spirit box and ghost orbs.
Did not get UV or freezing temps for a good while so I eliminated Mimic really doubted that one.
I decided to like the firelight 3 times, so I eliminated Onryo. I even lit it a total of like 5 times for videos and audio recording, no hunts no cruci burns.
The hunt speed was normal so eliminated Dayan

I had to tough out Mare or Yokai. After a while I made my decision: "eh probably a Yokai it doesn't really seem to be reacting to me activating the mic or holding the flashlight during a hunt."

I'm like "Alright I'm done testing time to get out" door locks ghost spawns on top of my crucifix and kills me. At the end summary it was -drumroll- Onryo?

player log might be big depending on how long the game was open, so trick is to close out the game and open it back up, then it creates a new player log file and makes a backup of the previous one, then the moment you have a voice chat issue, leave the lobby, close the game, etc this will make it easier to find more vivox related logs with a smaller file with less non-vivox stuff

they should try discord social sdk, it uses discord's vc servers for the voice chat backend and it's free, nobody needs a discord account, and it also allows for cross-platform friends list and other stuff like that

we'd be able to send lfg lobby invites directly in discord too

idk how that'd work for console tho

it's possible this is from leaving a lobby and not from a bugged lobby, would want to look at the logs around them to get some context. i know there's certain logs that always show when you first join a lobby or get out of an investigation and back into the lobby, it will list all players names and their steam/unity IDs

How can you tell the difference between an Obambo and the Twins?

obambo can change speed during the middle of a hunt

obambo's hunts in enraged state last shorter periods of time

and twins have cooked interaction ranges, once you get a feel for them its pretty obvious you got twins

If the ghost suddenly changes speed mid hunt is obambo, and usually the twins is that the slow twin appears from her room while fast appears on her last interaction
