well, actually a few years ago they already took that step and I can assure you that they are more than capable, games like tomb raider or resident evil villages run perfectly on MacOS without problems, I don't think astonishment is going to be a difficult challenge here

Not feeling this Tanglewood rework so far. They removed one of the most iconic loops in the game, not to mention the og kitchen is not that dated. So not only will it play differently, but it will also feel unfamiliar.

I'm not sure 100% but I think so. but I'd highly recommend looping the piano. You can be on one side near the lamp, and when the ghost comes you go to the left and it confuses the ghost so they go to the left.

All the maps/items and ghost models that are currently in the game are bought assets from unity that any and all other indie horror game makers can use (hence why you'll see other games with very similar assets as phasmo) In order to fully release the game in Horror 2.0 they need/want to make their own items/ghost models and that includes reworking the current maps (since they are unity assets) Honestly, I'm hella excited for horror 2.0 and upcoming game updates. I'll be completely fine with losing some looping spots for newer and improved ghosts/maps/etc.

Looping makes the game easy, and without looping, in the current state of the game it becomes impossible to play, and boring to play. Which is why is said that IF the devs do wanna move away from it as a mechanic, they will NEED to add something that makes the game feel fun and fresh, and at the same time, makes it possible to get both visual, and auditory cues during hunts. Or, on the other hand, looping needs to become more difficult, so ghosts actually feel intimidating and scary again.

Yes all ghosts flicker the flashlight during a hunt. the flashlight for the myling will flicker at the exact same range as any ghost, but you will not hear footsteps immediately because it is quiet. So it will flicker before footsteps. I've personally never heard of that, so I'll have to check that info. Very interesting if true and an immediate tell

There's so many nifty one off tricks and unique behaviors, it can be overwhelming, but once you get it, you feel like a whole detective

grab the cheat sheet, play professional, figure out the ghost, read up on it on the cheat sheet, try to observe the ghost's abilities and behaviors to familiarize yourself with them, leave game, get reward, repeat until comfortable enough with the ghosts to bump to nightmare/instanity/0ev

each game i look at these during the first hunt:

• ghost speed
• ghost blinks/model
• listen to footstep volume with distance (myling)
• heartbeat volume (raiju tech)
• behavior with power/movement
• behavior with firelight during hunt

if all of those are normal then you gotta do tests to figure out the ghost (it's a ghost like yurei, mare, onryo that are not inherently obvious during hunts), the most you need to do all these tests will be a crucifix, firelight, and a motion sensor, and smudge timer

• mare test with the room lights in the ghost room while the ghost is smudged
• sit in ghost room and watch for yurei touches while the ghost is smudged
• sit in ghost room and use lanterns to do the onryo 20s test (after the smudge timer, bc onryo honors the cooldown like all other ghosts while it's smudged)
  and all the other tests for the "boring" ghosts

for goryo i just throw a motion sensor in the ghost room (or fill a larger room with them to cover more space) and if they ever stop going off, that means the ghost is roaming or moved rooms, so i'll keep watching more/after each hunt to ensure it never goes back before ruling out goryo. then obvs a goryo will always go back to the same room after every hunt so the motion sensor will always go off after every hunt

Imo a tanglewood rework is not the smartest option here. The map is perfect for beginners- its simple to memorize the locations of the cursed possesions, the bone is usally not difficult to find, there are only two spots for the breaker, all hiding spots are simple to find, the layout is the extremely simple, you can loop any ghost... its a literal perfect map how it is to get to learn the feel for the game. The old tutorial was on tanglewood, for goodness sake. A graphical update is in order, as it is a basic unity map, but a overhaul? Nah.

Maybe make it so you can't sprint while holding a bag and holding the bag is like holding a tripod and you can't switch to another item without dropping it, and you have to put it on the ground to get stuff out?

I generally take the photo last or just before I go to complete my objectives with a hunt. Smudge ghost take photo hide.

ghost is in either chapel or corridor, and objectives I have left are: Witness Ghost event, and repel with insence

As for the event you have to be within , I think it's ten meters of the ghost for it to target you for a ghost event
