I was playing on a Nells diner map, doing the Christmas events and the toy list was fully filled out at the start of the game? It was full of elves , like full list taking up the whole page was crossed off. There were no names, just Naughty/Naughty. Then switches didnt work properly, even though the ghost didnt event or break them

The krampus is devious. I had a stuck ghost on Tanglewood in the garage. The front hallway had temps of -7C but absolutely no other activity or evidence. So I used the music box and found him in garage. It triggered a cursed hunt but it never moved. So I move my stuff over to figure out what it was only for it to start another hunt and sprint straight at me. It was a revenant.

For example, I'm currently playing a 2ev game, I have Freezing and UV, so my options are Demon, Hantu, Jinn and Mimic. I can eliminate Mimic very easily because I have no orbs. Which means I'm down to Demon, Hantu and Jinn. The main things you'll want to be looking out for, is whether the breaker gets turned off by the ghost or not, if so, is it often? You might be leaning Hantu - you can confirm this with a hunt with the breaker off, you'll see the Hantu breath, and it'll have different speeds in different rooms. If the breaker has never been turned off, you might want to lean Jinn, which you can confirm during a hunt with the breaker ON. If you're over 3m away from it, it'll speed up to a fixed speed chasing you.

If you get what seems to be an early hunt, you can look at Demon and Jinn, Demon can hunt naturally at 70% and anytime with its ability, and the Jinn can just nuke 25% of your sanity without a cooldown

So, firstly, 0 activity on the board doesn't always mean the ghost did nothing. Even with 0 activity on the screen, the ghost could still make any interaction with EMF level 2. Why? That's because the EMF level 2 value is equal to 1 height on the board, then an infelicity of ±1 is added or subtracted. So, you get EMF 2, the board decides to subtract another height instead of adding it, and nothing changes on the board, even though you placed sound sensors and clearly heard, for example, the sound of a door

This means that:

EMF 2 (Interaction) can be shown on the board as 0/1/2 height
EMF 3 (Throws) can be shown on the board as 1/2/3 height
EMF 4 (Events) can be shown on the board as 2/3/4 (provided there are no doors in the room where the event took place, since each door increases the value on the board)
EMF 5 (Evid) can be shown on the board as 3/4/5 height
(In short, emf value - 1 = actual height of the emf, THEN adds or subtracts 1 - final height on the monitor)

This also explains why sometimes players get a value of 4 height, but the result was a ghost without a evidence of EMF 5.

The abilities of the Twins and Poltergeist can give higher values. Currently, ghosts (all) can drop tripods and leave multiple EMF values ​​at once

Any activity except extinguishing fires and writing in a book occurs with a delay of 2 to 6 seconds. Extinguishing and writing are not included in this delay, so sometimes you can get simultaneous/< values ​​in less than 2 seconds. Extinguishing or writing may show a broken line on the activity board if another interaction was occurring concurrently.
Broken lines on the board can help identify Twins, but it's important to consider what I wrote above

I've played using my steamdeck with my kids for like a year - but recently it won't work - they are home visiting me for christmas break and I'd love to play them - but it just hangs and basically the UI becomes unresponsive - I've tried:

1. Restarting client and steamdeck
