The typical test is to have three lit firelights around a cruci, wait for the ghost to blow them out. If it attempts a hunt, it's (probably) an Onryo.

Make sure there isn't a 4th flame nearby and don't light it too quickly after the third is blown

It will hunt up to 6 seconds after the third is blown

The funniest thing that's happened to me in this game was when I was playing with a group. When we all entered the house, I snuck away and finally found a ouija board. After the group entered the ghost room, I might have challenged the ghost to a game of hide and seek. In the end all my teammates died and the ghost was a thaye, but they never figured out how the ghost started a hunt

I've said before I deserve an asterisk. The last time I decided to redo it, I legit got a Deo and perfect objectives 1st attempt, took under 6 minutes total.
