Ghosts can do things called events where they show themselves, walk toward you, or turn into an airball and scream at you. It drains your sanity. These are separate from hunts. They can kill you during hunts

Big maps also have slower sanity drain and higher rewards, so there's a tradeoff. In any event, your sanity will drain at half speed when solo compared to MP
