FNAF is a master class in low-budget atmosphere and it deserves some praise for that. A jumpscare is like a fart joke. Can be very effective when done well. The problem with something like FNAF is that I find it very scary right up until the point where I'm jumspcared once and then all tension has been lost because I've experienced essentially the entire game's horror loop in one loud noise.

If it is possible, the events, scares, sounds etc should be so random, that nobody can identify a certain pattern. So u could never be sure what the ghost actually is, and u have to be very precise to get the correct ghost

A closet is ideal. I just suggested the boys bedroom because its a good way out. The closet in the hallway next to the nursery, the garage locker... just not downstairs because it don't work too good between floors

on small maps like tanglewood, you should be able to hear the ghost everywhere except the basement from inside the kitchen, for example. myling would have spots where you just can't hear it at all even though it's hunting. the garage is big enough that you won't hear a myling from the kitchen if it's in the garage, same for boys room/nursery/master bedroom

Then there's line of sight acceleration which some of the fast ghosts don't have (Revenant, Deogen, Hantu, Thaye) or do have but their regular speed boosts take priority (Jinn, Raiju). It can get complicated

if some evidence is hidden because you're playing nightmare or insanity, certain ghosts will be guaranteed to give their "forced evidence"

so if playing insanity and teh ghost is a goryo, since it's forced evidence is dots, it'll be dots every time you get a goryo in that difficulty (the dots evidence will never be selected to be the hidden evidence)

If you encounter that specific type of ghost, they will ALWAYS have that evidence with them at 1-2 given evidence

Such as: Obake will always have fingerprints. If you dont have fingerprints in a 2 evidence game, you can cross it out

For the most part, the ghost can wander during a hunt to any of those more open spots. While some may be “safer” than others, smudging and running would be the safest bet to try and lose LOS, sometimes twice (think rounding two corners type of breaks)

I’d go that route honestly, I’ve found better success smudging earlier and running so I can get not only the objectives but you can cross off a few ghosts too, like Moroi’s extra smudge wander or any speed differences between rooms(depending on what tier of smudge you’re using ❤️)

Play Nightmare. Narrows the ghost down to 2-5 candidates. Look up what those ghosts do on the cheat sheet and try to learn their tests. You repeat this until you're pretty comfortable with it.
Then play Insanity/1 evidence custom. Same deal except the evidence doesn't narrow down to like 3 ghosts, it narrows it down to like 10. You repeat this until you're pretty comfortable with it.
Then it's 0 evidence time.

Basically, read up on the cheat sheet, namely the parts that confirm or rule out a specific ghost. There will be trial and error, but when you do it enough times, the info just starts to stick and you’ll be identifying ghost likes it’s nothing.

personally I think it's a much better experience to play the game at the difficulty you can do with just a little struggle, items will come as they come.
Unlocking the new tiers of stuff is nice but it doesn't change the game, it's playable in functionally it's end state right away, at least once you have all the tier 1 stuff

Other things to note: If the ghost is not blinking, it's an event, not a hunt. And hunts will have a grace period (5s on Amateur) when the ghost starts making noise and lights flicker before the ghost appears. So if it appears instantly it's an event.

So it will depend on the equipment being used since Tier 1 has the temp wiggle

B/c there has to be a minimum for non-freezing ghosts, and that was set at 1C, so if it drops below 1C it can't be a non-freezing ghost. It doesn't mean a ghost that brings the temp to 0.5C will stop there; it will keep getting colder.

when the ghost spawns at the start of the hunt, it will spawn wherever it happens to be standing.
It is most often standing in the ghost room, but it could have been roaming which is random, how far it goes is also random

You can try to use motion sensors and sound sensors to get an idea of where it is when it is not hunting. a motion sensor on the doorway for example gives you an indication that it crossed into or out of the room
