What is the best way to test for a myling? Without the evidence

If you can hear it

when the ghost is a myling, it can only be heard from 12 meters away as opposed to other ghosts which can be heard at 19 meters away. it is also quieter, as in footstep and voice volume lowered enough to notice.

When the ghost spawns far from you, as it approaches you, listen to your heartbeat and its footsteps. if they start at the same time, myling, if you hear the footsteps before the heartbeat starts, not a myling.

If the ghost spawns close to you, compare the volume of your heartbeat to the volume of the ghost footsteps. if the heartbeat is noticeably louder than the ghost's footsteps at close range, it's a myling

use a thermometer while the power is turned on. power being on makes the house warmer, ghost room will always be colder

also just use your ears and listen for the ghost touching things. its usually in the ghost room but could also be roaming for a bit before going back to the room

I think spirit gets more aggressive when you approach its room or is in its general vicinity so if you didn’t spend a lot of time in it by the room it won’t be so aggressive

The ghost behaviour has some randomization to it, so even if you encouter the same ghost type multiple times, on the same difficulty, they can behave a little different each time. Like how much they roam, how many interactions or ghost events they do, that sort of thing.

If the ghost room is significantly colder, you'll be able to tell pretty much right away that it's dropping. But the ghost doesn't spawn until you open the front door so it may take a couple minutes for it be noticeable.
