Every newer valkyrie has one ring type (which mainly decides how they are as a leader dps)

and can have multiple tags (which decides what kind of leader they can support)

The simplest way i can put it is that team building is matching ring type and tags

so HLE leader grail with symbiosis tags on her supports

don't say synergy because that can be confused with weapon synergy (the dupe upgrade system)

but yeah technically speaking, matching 3 ring types isn't correct. It still works because all those valks will still have the matching tag but

a valk doesn't have to have the same ring type to have the matching tag

anyway alot of this is just repeating stuff from the first faq i've been trying to urge you to read. But now with these specific examples maybe you can revisit it and it'll make much more sense

right well just want to make sure you know and don't go putting a non astral ring hohe on an hle team to no effect

anyway going back to one of your earliest questions, you can already see there's like 6 valks on the right of that second screenshot that can all support HLE technically, but you really only really need two for a functioning team

however meta efficiency wise, i'm going to tell you to not focus on any of them with your crystals

you only have so much crystals and newer things are constantly being added to the game. Newer releases probably will have symbiosis too while having better value (if the next new valk doesn't, and you still want to focus on HLE, then you can ask again)

technically speaking some of these supports can be better than others, but the difference is usually not that big. What's important overall is you match the ring type and tags.

depends on how you want to use her

short answer, i'm going to say no. Cut your losses and focus on newer stuff. You won't use her as a dps in that case but she'll be fine enough as support for the meantime

signature weapons usually aren't negotiable though

• they offer significant personal damage ranging from 20% to even 60%. If you don't have the signature weapon, you prob aren't using them as a dps (there can exceptions esp if you have another recent maxed out weapon but these are more specific)
• some of them may offer important utility for the gameplay flow or for specific strategies in the fight
  • these can include timestop, sp restoration, astral ring intensity restoration, skipping attacks in the valk's attack sequence, etc

thelema is another astral ring valk we would be able to get from the spending event shop with no crystal costs

however in contrast to sushang, thelema highly needs her weapon for support purposes too

i would still consider thelema from it (but do consider other things too. i'm not saying to definitely pick her) but don't expect any meta uses in the meantime if you do. Maybe someday her weapon will be made freely available too.

It does go the other way around though

HLE has harmonized shadow star tag to support thelema as a wheel of destiny dps (wheel matches with shadow star)

but i mean that's pointless if thelema doesn't have her weapon.

thelema is actually the one case that loses 60% of her damage without her weapon lol

actually since you're elysia focused, you might care more about thelema. Thele is very important for supporting HoHE

peary is too costly to craft. the only reason why you see it is because it was given from the beginner event starter manual.

if you need another budget ice dps set, use scott but

traditional team building is usually going to be 1 dps and 2 supports because you only have one unit out at a time

there are some caveats i can consider from all this but for most intents and purposes, just peary is good enough for now

such caveats are

• memorial arena wants you to use multiple teams, so you can justify two ice dps on separate fights. However you only have so many ice supports to use. I rather you use a different dps.
• beginner team supporting effects are really weak that it can be more efficient to run a bugdet secondary dps. The faq above gives a few examples of this but these can be a second element and not a second ice dps.

VBm coralie and her signature hammer can be gained from early part 2 story at captain lv 30. There aren't much spoilers to part 1 there so feel free to dive ahead until you get those.

it's more of a problem once you already have an established roster and some of these become redundant

i rather go by a valk by valk basis because some of them can be notably worse than others but sometimes we don't have enough data and foresight until later too as ram said earlier

anyway so far i've told you farmable team options for a senadina leader.

If you have lightning support such as fischl or eden with weapon then maybe you can use that with eden leader (non astral ring team) but i don't see that here

as for who you should pull for, we have a pin for that. In general save up crystals and only pull for new patch valks with their weapons together

You can also consider HoRb's upcoming new weapon. At that point HoRb or Sena can be leader dps while the remaining units support each other.

im assuming you are at least familiar with the fact that her main ring (wheel of destiny) at this point is considered a "dead ring" as its units dont get weathers as often anymore for dps cases, making songque dps use cases rarer, if not already stolen by other sd units at this point
songque also has the ring tag for law of ascension which lets her main use case be a supportive unit for loa, and she is a fairly good loa support
songque also has a unique mechanic for her typing (SD) which allows her to instantly trigger the critical state of an sd enemy's health bar (you might be familiar with the checkpoints in their hp, when you reach the first one it causes the bar to turn pink, songque skips that and instantly turns the bar pink with her hold atk)

also i do think your account is lacking that if you want to focus on the meta, you may consider restarting if you're not attached to it

but if you want to stick with the account for any reason it's ok and you can definitely make it work. it'll just take more time and proper planning from this point

the important thing to note is, songque is unable to support any future rings unless hoyo adds a ring tag to her as they did with previous units (such as through stellar keys, which is unlikely in jds' case)
she is limited as an loa support, and mainly considered BiS in sd content
and as we move further away from loa, her support cases will start to diminish

• Ult and Weapon to trigger buffs from Kevin (Deliverance aka Ultimate) and Vill-V (Helix aka Weapon Skill)
• Stellar Outburst
• Basics until your resonance marks are empty and Sparkle felt elated (shoots herself)
• Ultimate again
• Red Combo attack by holding BA (gathers enemies too)
• If second Ego signet in priority (Thousand-Faced) is obtained, it allows you to immediately do Stellar Outburst again

Yeah, just be aware that each Valkyrie guide is made when a specific version was out with their own Elysian Realm buffs. This usually just means that General Signet recommendations can vary in order and Energy buffs are usually different every few weeks

You'll definitely survive not being aware of this for all recent valks, it's more important for older Valkyrie runs where the guides are very funky if you apply them 1 by 1. For example, Aponia signets used to be very broken at some point in time and that's why a lot of the older guides shilled it a lot

they're all farmable from asterite shop but shigure kira (sugary starburst) is most suitable

none are well used at a top level anymore. These are all temporary things to use until you get something better. don't invest too highly into them

beware what you're looking at requires real money to access

Yeah, this tank can be a real run ender. You usually want to arrive with a lot of health or the Vicissitude 2 (Hua) nexus which protects you from any damage for 6 hits. It's doable without either, but you'll need to get really good at dodging.

Or you just arrive with an ridiculous amount of dmg so you kill it first

so elysian realm changes effects every few weeks. Currently we do have a stage effect that reduces our hp. I'm not sure if it's something you can really avoid (see below) but as ram said you can take measures to mitigate its influence or even use it advantageously

It's possible to avoid this by not selecting this option. If you do, the LITE temperature starts at 100ºC, causing the health draining effects when valk hp is above 20%

And since we have autumn, an EU player will unlikely have a higher real life temperature than 28°C

there seems to be some misconceptions. Much of the 9 years of meta no longer applies today. The current meta that is retained are those within 2 years roughly speaking

But for most intents and purposes, catching up to the meta isn't really catching up. It's just starting from somewhere and keeping up with most new releases while the older meta falls off.

Casually you really don't need to own anything. Early story is clearable with free and farmable stuff while later story and events all give you trials to use. Owning stuff are more for personal sentiment, use in the elysian realm roguelike gamemode, or for competitive modes of abyss and arena.

anyway maybe start playing now so you can start learning the game as well as stocking up resources and crystals. As you said you have years of content and systems to go through. Alot of early gacha currency comes from story that takes time to chew through.

normally a backpull (pulling for reruns and not new releases) isn't recommend, and sparkle isn't recommended in general, but if she's your main reason for the game, we can work with it

rerolling is an arduous process that at best takes roughly 15 minutes (which is quite heavy when compared to other games out there that lets you reroll in seconds). The timing window to roll for sparkle is only a few days twice in that next patch too. It's not alot of time.

rerolling does have the advantage of bruteforcing the luck to roll for the character (up to 90 pulls saved) which can be notable, but also arguably small in the grand scheme of things. You'll still want to roll for the character's weapon though (another 60 pulls at worst)

Early game crystals are plentiful enough to get this amount of rolls beforehand, especially if you are casual and just want to ensure getting sparkle as opposed to being arguably gacha currency efficient

there's a ton more i can talk about too, such as team building with sparkle on a budget early on, and what to work towards later, as well as where to get crystals. However i've said alot so I'll wait for your response before proceeding.

My fear with starting now is that I won't be able to save enough crystals to secure Sparkle. But if they give out so many gems for playing the story, then I guess I should play now.
If I reroll when the Sparkle rerun comes out, I'll lose the Coralie selector (Gaming for Life stigma option), which I have no idea if it's useful.

So every valkyrie has four slots of equipment. A weapon and 3 stigmatas of top middle and bottom slots. Consequently every valk have signature equipment tailored to them. Meta wise these signatures are non negotiable for meta performance.

Meta is emphasized in this game because alot of your regular crystal income is from abyss where you compete against other players. It can even be roughly half of your weekly income (excluding events and such). There's many stratifications to abyss so you can find your own balance though. It doesn't have to be all or nothing but i digress.

Anyway every patch there's a new valk release and they give you a selector box for one of their stigmatas. Alot of players fall into the trap of opening these immediately since it's free stuff but really you should wait before opening this

Beginner Weapon Option

Hi, Captain!

Ai-chan recommends that you keep the box until you have a use case for one of the weapons. Both Purana Phantasma and Nocturnal Stealth have their uses. Key of Ego is generally not recommended.

If you insist on opening the box immediately, Purana is likely to have more usage long-term due to the team tdm buff and RC being able to quickly debuff enemies which may be useful for SS MA.

nowadays the only gacha exclusive equipment is the weapon. New signature stigmatas at worst are craftable in foundry at an added cost.

So overall the ideal process is to roll for weapon then stop. You'll get stigmatas along the way but for anything you're missing, then you use the selector box, and then craft any further you're missing. @topaz bay

Anyway if you don't intend to get the valk and her weapon, then leave the box alone. As time goes on, a valk can become more available in the future so you never know if you'll wind up getting them without spending crystals.

If you have an urgent situation then sure open the box and take a prism (used for upgrading newer stigs) but a single stig piece on its own is usually very weak and unimportant

don't confuse lore with meta. There's no real link there

FWS kiana is very notable for now but pulling her now means you missed a portion of her meta use period, and there will be other things in the future you can get that can be close enough in performance while possibly lasting longer (hard to say for sure ofc)

if you really like her and want to get her for sentimental reasons then we can work with that still

but in general backpulling is just very uphill to consider. As a f2p you already cannot afford every new release as is

Maybe try the stellar outburst playstyle next time. I've noticed another side effect of the non-ring build: Temp Lead causes your teammates it's applied on to do ignite trauma. This is considered a debuff that will increase temperature due to the current ER effects.
On top of that, many AstralOPs including Dreamseeker heal you quite a bit when using outburst. Pair this with always healing on any pistol shot with Sparkle and you should do fine with surviving.

FWS is Law of Ascension ring type. The matching tag for this is heavenly shfit. HoHE doesn't have that. HoHE does have that so she can support FWS

HoHE's ring type as a leader is wheel of destiny. The matching tag to that is harmonized shadow star. FWS doesn't have that.

ScI and VBs do have this. However I do not recommend either of them.

ScI is gacha only and is not a very useful valk. Pretty subpar in most of her use cases or has very specialized uses you can't use.

VBs is farmable but is lightning specialized and is quite subpar, and very limited in use even when maxed out

you can get and use VBs cheaply, but focus more on VBm coralie instead

Senadina is one of the earliest part 2 valks and is very old by now. She is being used now in the top meta but these situations are much less common than before.

If you're spending crystals, for meta purposees I really recommend focusing on new releases in the future. I understand you're not meta though so this is just an fyi

technically speaking hohe was originally a non astral ring valk so i can answer yes to this question. But the way she and sparkle are for that are very different

at this point in time, hohe's non astral ring form is completely outdated. It was replaced by the astral ring form

sparkle having non astral ring mechanics is more of a side option for non astral ring teams that were still meta when she was released (FoV mainly. Also MMG but that got replaced recently by FDD)

that's also part of the reason why sparkle isn't recommend. Part of the way she'll be emphasized in abyss is with these old non astral ring teams that newer players will not have

for now while you wait for sparkle you can use the teams here

top priority is to invest and max out VBm

when sparkle arrives, you can use

• sparkle leader
• VBm (high invested) (this is coralie but do not confuse it with FDD which is the recent gacha one that doesn't work with sparkle)
• any one of VBs, RC, TA, SSb

in the future if you want to be meta efficient, replace the supports with new gacha valks that have domain resonance.

• HLE will have it but expecting to roll for both sparkle and HLE is... possible but might be too much work

If you want to focus on what you like then Lantern and ScI works with sparkle dps. These have very specific enemy matchups for Sparkle dps.

• technically HoRb seele with her upcoming new weapon can support sparkle but this also isn't notable. HoRb also isn't really available to get at this point afaik.

If you want to back pull (not recommended) for more general stronger sparkle supports then look for Vita and FWS

• HFi also is notable but also is as awkward as HoRb

Sparkle can also be used as a support, either for other world star leaders or for law of ascension leaders. We can talk more about this if you are interested.

HLE is a grail ring type. The matching tag for that symbiosis. FWS has this symbiosis tag, letting her support HLE.

Rather than matching the same stuff, think of part 2 team building as matching compliments. Match the ring type of the leader to the tags of the supports.

ELF/Astral Ops are very separate concepts from astral ring team building. They are a fourth member on the team that are act passively (you don't control them actively directly). The main thing I have to say about them for now is you don't need to spend crystals for gacha ones for meta f2p purposes. The default is good enough until you reach the highest points of the game.

it's 600 per piece for this purpose so you already have way more than enough to craft 2 stigs if you ever need to

imo i wouldn't buy this unless you want to work on any old non astral projects for fun from foundry (therefore needing more ether fuel than what was stated above)

eventually you'll unlock them all

just make sure to spend the key before the week resets so you can get another one the next week

the main value of unlocking valks here is they each have one time crystals you can get

• shallow sequence (3 difficulties)
• leveling them up to 15 (use lite mode for this)
• getting all their elysia signets for the collection menu in ER

the total from all these sources is 620 one time crystals per valk

• S2 Sena is notable for bloodthirsty mobs but we haven't seen that in a long while. SS helps with extra evades iirc(?) which can help in very specific scalings and scenarios for some sena dps fights, but we just got past guaymas.

it give good amount of crystal too, p1 story is pretty much required if you want to rush

you may want to reach lv 30 40 50 fast to unlock more stuffs

p2 gameplay is better but the reward is very lack luster, not really worth focusing on early game

Not unless you’re very lucky. Fortunately beginners get a ton of free pulls and there are a bunch of free pulls next patch

Typically you need about 30k crystals to pull a battlesuit and their weapon and if you’re unlucky it could be 40k or so
