i more advise you to hold your orbs for now and work with what you currently have the best you can until you save enough crystals to afford new future units instead (both valk and weapon together)

if you're not attached to your account but want to be competitive, then you may also consider restarting so you can use beginner event and reset permanent rewards to allocate more towards newer content (this is not a requirement. It's fine to take more time to get your current account back to a meta level)

as for what farmables to work on currently, you'll mainly consider valkyrie blastmetal (VBm, coralie) from asterite shop if she isn't already maxed yet.

yeah it's an iffy case. If you spend then i can consider it more but if you're working with a limited budget i rather you forget about it so you can better get newer things that will be more useful and relevant

beware while we call it a dkey, the new dkeys in part 2 are a bit different

you still get +10 atk for the first copy

but now you weapons can be further boosted with dupes (synergy), up to 2 more dupes (up to level 3). Each additional dupe will give +5 atk each for a total of +20 atk

obviously this is very whale to go for

Hii, I've been playing hsr/genshin a lot. I tried myself on hi3 quite a few times but even with guides/videos I've been struggling to quite understand most of the games mechanics.

Im just really in love with the game itself and mostly the characters. I think they look really gorgeous and whenever I see the game it looks fun and I'm in the mood for it.

I really wanna try it again, but my question is basically: is it worth starting the game now?
Are there units I need? Or how does the gacha system work correctly. I was pretty overwhelmed whenever I started the game by everything

To more directly answer a few other questions

Are there units I need?
Largely speaking for general intents and purposes, no.
To elaborate a bit more, every unit nowadays function as a dps and or support depending on how they are placed in a team.

• As a dps, there will be specific use cases for each of them but as long as you have enough of them you'll see a net gain in competitive rankings.
• As a support, as long as they are fitting they generally can get pretty close in performance even if they're not the best
  • some situations may call for a specific one though
  • Some supports may also be more commonly best than others but we may not always have the foresight to determine this, and it's never really worth it to chase them when they are no longer new

Or how does the gacha system work correctly.
Before anything I highly recommend throwing out your knowledge of HSR and GI. HI3 is a much older game and while there can be similarities, the logics from those games may often lead to more faulty conclusions than it helps.

The gacha system in this game differ from those games where:

• there is no 50/50. You are guaranteed to get the featured banner thing at worst if you hit pity.
• soft pity roughly happens at 80/90 pulls for the valk. It's not uncommon to get close to full pity as a result
• The cost per roll is 280 instead of 160. Try not to fixate on the raw amount much since the economy of the games are different.
• 90 pulls for valk. 60 pulls for weapon at worst. Therefore I loosely recommend 40k crystals before rolling for a new valk+weap
• In HSR and GI you can get away without a signature LC/weapon sometimes for some characters. Unfortunately it's much less negotiable here. HI3 is more pvp orientated where players contest each other for high clear scores rather than simply clearing a dev intended threshold. The signature weapon is a competitive norm.

The competitive aspect of HI3 (abyss) is more emphasized since it can reasonably become roughly half of your regular gacha currency income. However, do note meta units on their own won't ever fully pay back the cost it takes to get them. Make sure you actually like the meta units you're getting.

While there is such a great emphasis on competitive, it's fine to disregard that side partially or even entirely too. Story and events usually provide trial characters to use so you don't need to own anything of your own. You can also technically try out all newer valks of the game via attack > events tab > tactics class.

Sorry if that's way too wordy. From how you asked, I assumed you want an indepth answer but i can always dumb down to more abridged explanations if needed.

To summarize the first half, what's important as a newer player is to pick up newer valks and weapons together when you can afford them. Forget about older releases, and don't risk getting a valk without her weapon. As time goes on, the older valks will fall off the meta and you'll lapse into the meta with all the newer pick ups.

Yes, they do get reruns for about a year or so

All Part 2 S-ranks can be either DPSes (if they're the leader) or supports (if they aren't the leader)

They have separate clauses for each role in their skills

But it's generally not recommended to backpull stuff if you wanna be a meta player

We understand HI3 is an old game that resultingly made it have alot of systems that are dated, complicated, convoluted, etc. There's no real dumb question as a result and anyone who insults you that way should be reported to the modmail, so rest assured. The only real issues if you're too lazy to make use of resource we show you.

Do characters get reruns? I've seen some which I find very cool.
They do but again reruns are not recommended. If you're meta focused, stick with the newest releases.
Very old gacha valks will become more available in other ways too such as paid bundles, or even becoming farmable.

The actual explanation to this can get a bit confusing and involve ingame terms but to put it very simply

• most team structures in the game are one dps and two supports. This makes sense because you can only have one valk out at a time, and the damage formula is full of multipliers. So it's best to put all your eggs into one basket so to speak.
• older teams are element type focus. Example: 1 ice dps and 2 ice supports
• but newer teams moved away from that. The shortest answer i can give you is that every newer valk has a ring type and one or more tags. The ring type mainly determines how they dps when set as the leader. The tags mainly determine how they can support if they are not the leader. For more details search "!faq ring" in this channel.
  • I guess to shorten it even further, new team building is just matching the dps ring type to tags of the supports.

Overall, you should only affix Best-in-Slot Stigmata and generally aim to get as much Atk as possible on your DPS Valkyries first. Ensure that the Battlesuit/Weapon Type matches what the Affix line demands otherwise the Atk will not apply.

Remember only Physical Damage can crit, and "crit ratios" do not apply to Honkai Impact 3rd.

Was surprisingly annoying to do without abyss access, enemies just aren't tanky enough in SSSMA 😓 . if your stellar outburst isn't available on FDD you can just do basic attack sequence -> enhanced weapon active -> ult and repeat until buffs are almost gone, tho I can make a second one for that if it's desired (I was gonna do it in this one and then the boss just died in one rotation)

with paws dps you can cancel her second basic for a bit of extra performance but I sometimes fuck that one up still

point is that you want to keep coralie buffs up (they're very handily visible on your bottom) and switch out to jump attack wa whenever they're almost gone, and then that way you'll keep 100% uptime on your other support buffs too

Carnival supply is a special banner which does retain pity within the same patch it's running.

Other banners will reset their pity as soon as they're over, an infamous example would be ADV or Ascension supply.

Those are merely meant to rank up your owned valks, so they come with lower chances than the normal valk and equip banners.

Generally not recommended to pull on, unless you're already well covered on everything and know you will have enough for main banners anyway

Have a questions about spending in game, i am playing other gacha games with monthly pass and BP( hsr, zzz, wuwa). These two sending gives a lot of value, but i am not sure how it is in HI3, it has a but different numbers.
It is valuable to buy monthly pass? Is it good idea to buy BPs? If so, knight or paladin? As far as i can understand, with 2 knight BPs you can get 1 char, with 2 paladin - char and a weapon. But ive heard that chars in this game became old very fast and because if this i am not sure if it is even good idea to take chars from bp.

if you have no competitive goals and plan on being casual, there is 0 reason to spend as the valks you pull are only usable in endgame content

well essentially you wanna see how old a character is first, generally speaking a valk can last 1-2 years (more towards 2 years now with patches being longer)
herrscher of human: ego elysia (the one in the beginner manual) is a weird case because while she is extremely old (almost 3 years atp) she got a divine key in 8.1 that extended her viability and introduced new ways for her to be played with newer characters
while fenghuang of vissicitude fu hua who is in bp right now is getting no situation that benefits her in the abyss, we refer to these situations as weather, other hoyo games have similar things
basically weathers are buffs and nerfs given to characters in a round of abyss that determines who is most viable to complete it
and since your crystal income is directly tied to how you perform in comparison to other players, this puts an emphasis on having the best characters to clear content during specific weathers
and weathers are more biased towards the newer valks, so the older the valk the less likely the bosses or weathers that benefit them will run hence their use cases are less

the other thing to keep in mind with part 1 valks (valks released before 7.3) is that they are either a dps or support, which means if these weathers dont run, there is nothing they can do, unlike part 2 units who can function as both
so if their dps use cases are gone, they have support use cases until the valks they can support also become irrelevant in terms of meta

tl;dr the older the valk, the less situations will come up that benefits them, making them less viable which makes them a "bad character" to invest into
