  • each patch now releases an S rank gacha exclusive rather than having alternating releases of farmable/non-farmable
  • the first ten roll of each patch of the new valk generally has a 50% discount. Pity still carries over so it's recommended to do it if your pity is low.
• gear banner
  • no more off rate gear. All 4* pulls for a banner will be for the featured set/valk
  • newer signature stigmatas are now craftable
  • newer stigmatas are also increased in rates to 14% for any 4*. You are expected to get dupes which can be trashed to get source prisms: a mat that is greatly used for upgrading these new stigmatas (or crafting them in worst case scenarios)
  • weapon is now the only gacha exclusive thing to get from the banner. The only cost 60 rolls to guraantee.
  • weapons are still important for the valk's meta performance and functionality.
  • weapons now have a synergy system where 1 base can take two further dupes for further benefits. But for most intents and purposes esp as f2p, only one copy is enough
  • gear banner now also carries its own pity over to the next banner but building pity still isn't recommended since you want room to pull for new stigs rather than crafting them, and spending events still exist.

in terms of budget it's just marco polo with the phys valk specific gear available through multiple sources tbh, like holmes cope for CE and HoRB from foundry or sswords for HoS from exchange

While p2 phys has their sig stigs craftable so

so when we call a valk a p2 valk, the true definition is that they have astral ring mechanics.

these astral ring mechanics are only enabled if a p2 valk is a leader (this turns on astral ring)

This is not to be confused with stellar outburst which is a bursty mode part 2 teams have access to (like white heat in apho2)

most part 2 valks are completely focused on such astral ring mechanics

but a few exceptional p2 valks have further skills and effects that brings benefits to teams with astral ring OFF. (Sparkle, RS (Reign Solaris durandal), ScI (Schicksal Imperative theresa). Check pins for glossary too btw)

i personally think these are just exceptional cases because hoyo wanted to maintain longevity of p1 teams for roughly 2 years as i've said before

and don't really expect too much more in the future (kira is sort of next in line for ice? but we don't really have meta ice dps for p1 anymore?) but who knows

but rather than actual gamba (i know you're using the term loosely), income is high and cost are low enough that i think you can plan for a guarantee

as a beginner/returnee don't go for a new release unless you can guarantee the valk+weap before their banner goes away at least

i think this is something you'll have to think about on your own. Fun is subjective and if you're not having fun nor have strong interest in the long term of the game, it's fine to take it more easy and have a more casual approach to the game too

the recommendations we make here are more meta orientated because abyss where the meta is emphasized is a major source of crystals

but you don't actually need to own gacha valks to enjoy the events or story of the game

getting valks is mostly for uses in Abyss, Arena, Elysian Realm or sentimental purposes of just having it

There's multiple fights where this can work

but that's only because that kind of content hasn't changed yet.

Note the kind of ranks and gear investment this team has too. It goes as far as making a dupe of roza's weapon for liliya. Overall it's excessively costly.

as for payoff/rewards, SS arena isn't important. It's only going to make you gain more points for rankings. Ranking higher only tangibly gets you more ancient willpower which also isn't important since war treasury is full of out of date/budget p1 valks at this point.
