you gain thropies if you reach top 3-top 5 that depends on your abyss rank. That requires clearing all 3 side stages and those who clear the boss stage the fastest gain trophies

general rule of thumb for any selection box is if it doesn't expire it's prob fine to wait until you understand the game enough

in the case of that box, both currencies are used in War Treasury shop to buy fragments of old valks that used to be S rank gachas. All of them now are obsoleted or niche and not worth high investment, so there's no rush to opening this box really

but between the two currencies, Legacy is harder to get. So if you must pick now then maybe that one.

Otherwise you never know if they would add something to the game that would skyrocket demand for Willpower or if you'll run into a desperate situation for Willpower instead of Legacy

there's alot of old stigmatas and weapons in it but most of it is just legacy stuff. Outdated or very niche.

I still recommend being converserative with the resources in it in case one of those niches becomes relevant to you someday

loosely speaking it's when you have expanded your valk rosters to have enough capable teams, and can play well enough to retain red lotus or agony 3 in exalted

but more importantly imo it's when you learn and understand the game enough to know the trade offs of its systems and resources

roughly speaking, once you have a fully geared p2 team, and are able to comfortably play in abyss
a more general approach to it is when you have spent enough time learning the game and have already made good account progression decisions over that course of time

overall all these definitions are still vague

and it can depend on the player too. Some players made it to nirvana tier (highest) and still don't understand the game well to make decisions with selection boxes

one more thing about this. If you have excess resources there, it's also a place to craft pledge of sakura, a divine key weapon.

Abyss and Pinion are also divine key weapons too but only craft them when you have their gacha counterparts. They don't offer benefits on their own.

You can also craft other bounty weapons (Except abyss and pinion) to trash for weapon resonance to eventually afford oath of judah in exchange shop.

But the benefits of these are marginal and these are long term goals.

you already have 2 units with the missing tag, and a decent start to saving at the moment, should 8.3 be the new ring, you will have the necessary units to support it, otherwise a new valk to add to your roster which you can garuntee

in my eyes ||as far as LoA goes, you have plenty of valks with heavenly shift already. If you want to consider 8.2 valk as an LoA support you'll need to find out what separates her from others in that role (e.g. vita provides breach. Sparkle gives passive buffs with ult cdr. HoHE can nail weakpoints and is fast to swap across). I'm not familiar yet but maybe 8.2 provides good hitcount?||

At an RL level these differences aren't too important tbh. I would dare say you may only roughly see around a 60-70 point loss with worse options if you know what you're doing.

At that point what you're more considering 8.2 valk for are more unique roles such as ||her dps role for specific abyss matchups||

As for everything else ||(new ring support and also considering valks of the new future ring type) I really cannot say since nothing is known for now||

||Bleed matchups aren't usually too common when they're not in season (no new valk) but they tend to polarizing to deal with (higher gaps if you lack coverage). Up to you on how you want to approach them. An argument can be made to secure niches that are likely to promote you, or to avoid niches simply because they're niches||

at any rate we don't have full info of things yet so again the answer is really to just wait

@rose holly last thing i'll say about upcoming new ring support is i do personally value the team breach provider. Normally we generally do get an idea because they would provide breach to other teams too while having the tag (sena for WoD and vita for LoA), but currently nothing has shown up yet

however breach isn't always important and in some cases you can still achieve close enough scores without it

but MA is also a bit weird because timer mechanics are much more abusable in it

so sometimes you can brute through with a non matching team who abuses those alot

and some valks even with matching qualities will be quite horrible because they can't abuse the timer much

early on i would say it's fine to just look at matching details (type advantage/resistance/etc) and work with your built teams

if you're talking about dorm tickets(supply cards?), then that's something else entirely. There's various ways to get them but overall early on you can use them to advance through missions if necessary. Otherwise save them for spending events. Every spending events can redeem 20 pulls of them for more rewards.

Armada terminal is one source.

There's also dorm shop and weekly free homu boxes. Starter missions may give them out too.

For astral ring teams she has worse initial astral ring energy than dreamseeker but 3* should have better fire and lightning benefits than SS dreamseeker.

but other elves can have niches too such as selune for freeze or klein for forcing lightning valk QTEs (non astral ring teams)

general rule of thumb with any selection box with no expiration is to not rush a decision on it if you don't need to right now. You never know if the game may suddenly change in some way that may warrant a different selection

keeping it as a box keeps the flexibility, Meanwhile rushing the fragments isn't going to do anything anyway if you're not unlocking the elf or reaching a big rank

but also in the case of the elf selection box, it gives the whole elf

a whole elf normally takes 150 fragments to unlock

so getting a whole elf at 2* is worth that much

but if you unlock it with fragments, then pick the whole elf from the box, the dupe converts to 105 fragments

you effectively lose 45 fragments that way

also an elf is very costly to upgrade too

so unlocking her early may not be meaningful if you can't even fully max out her skills too. (lv 75 minimum to access all skill upgrades iirc)

how interested are you in the meta? You seemed somewhat keen on it with picking the best valk earlier but also uninterested since you weren't budging when i didn't recommend the fragments overall

any new valk will be good for their patch. All new valks now have astral ring mechanics too. One perk of this is that every valk can have multiple roles and can be a dps or a support. So they can fit into many teams with themselves

for developing players, the general recommendation is to save up to guarantee new valk releases early in the patch

and you'll reach meta performance as long as you maintain the game regularly (pick up all limited time crystals you can) and pick up enough new valks for teams to come together

but as mango said, next new valk is still STC

Generally the meta is the basis of our recommendations because going higher gives more crystals. However this benefit is notable but won't ever cover the total average cost of a new valk and her weapon either. It's important to have an overlap of personal interest with the meta to appreciate the higher crystal income. Otherwise meta slaving is arguably not worth it

But overall the game has many different abyss tiers to suit your account's performance. It's fine to accept a lower tier if that's the environment you'll more enjoy the game in and with older valks that are more capable there.

With your current account situations Astral ops aren't really a concern for you the free one is completely fine

They only really become relevant once you are comfortably bouncing between RL and Nirvana and your goal is to retain nirvana. But I cannot recommend pulling them if you are a f2p player, f2p players crystal income is limited and they can't afford every new release. So skipping a version by giving up a valks weapon for an astral op isn't really worth it .

Ideally you would want to pull the 8.2 valk but because you said that it matters a lot to you if you like or do not like a valk that is totally up to you

also making sure your supports buff the right damage type

for part 2 teams with valks like Thelema and Coralie, you want the main DPS as your leader no matter what. The other 2 teammates still do their usual moves in a more toned down and specific way to trigger their buffs

in those, you have to worry less about the right damage type, because the buffs are usually more general, with some exceptions

one of the early exceptions would be helia, she's mostly buffing lightning with some total damage multipliers that are generic

coralie on the other hand does majorily total damage buffs, which is why she's a good part 2 valk to start out with

plus you get her best hammer and valk for free in the first p2 chapter
