if that's on the transition, yeah, that is part of the boss mechanic.
You need to evade on where the boss is aiming, so that it will destroy the crystal remnants.
when the boss do the attack where it highlights 3 tiles that are beside each other,
You will then need to gather those remnants, so that the transition phase will be gone.

The boss will do a single tile three times. evade on those tiles, so you have remnants appearing.
on the 4th attack, you will see this.
it highlights 3 tiles that are beside each other.

so in this scenario, you need to evade on 1 or 2 more tiles.
in order to do that, you need to be standing in the middle of the 2 tiles, like where i am on the pic.
In this manner, the boss' atk can hit the 2 tiles simultaneously, giving you more remnants.
Finally, you will gather those remnants, either by HLE's weap act, or Songque's weap act (when her lantern KE is full).

in total, as far as i experience, you need to break 4 to 5 crystals.
5 is guaranteed to finish the transition phase.
4 is a little bit sketchy, but i think that could also work.

Just a side note,
So in case that you miss "a" (meaning, you can only miss 1) crystal (on the first 3 atks of the boss) ,
the double crystal hit can save you,
cuz maybe you fail to evade on 1 of the 3.
So, you have only 2 crystals broken.
If you get the double crystal hit,
you will get 4 crystals in total that is broken, which will save your run.

I wouldn't necessarily say both are a priority, depending on your left over one time crystals sources I'd maybe even consider saving for 8.9.

Though you would be able to utilize Rita DPS she's already kinda niche and you also wouldn't be able to utilize her WoD support potential a lot.

I'd probably just skip Rita weapon and take the loss and then maybe wait for 8.9 news if you're low on one time crystals to see how valuable 8.9 looks for you

i dont really have any pt2 valks besides xdc s 4/4 and theresa si 3/4 (no weapon), so im barely managing to get by with pt1 valks without their astral rings
i dont have any astral ring support elf thingies idk what theyre called besides the normal one that everyone gets
my question is, whats the state of the current meta? which characters are worth it to pull, and which ones should i skip? are characters still insanely gear and weapon dependant orr??

the name you're looking for is astra op or aop for short (astral operators) but dreamseeker is fine
meta is the same but because its been over 2 years since part 2 the only relevant teams are the astra ring valks
you pull new releases if you can afford to get full gear or you skip
stigmatas being craftable assumes that you have 3/4 minimum which really helps out but valks still need sig weapon for dps, theres some support amd qol things in the weapons too but if you end up getting a p2 valk for free or such, there's no need to chase after their weapons unless you have the resources to spare to get it and with part 2 valks being both supports and dpses, you have more use cases for them even when they start to fall off

assuming you have SW already, she'll get a divine key next patch that gives her astra ring, its cheap to grab and will give you a function valk and even a full team to use, unfortunately she doesn't support xdc though

Worth it for what? Nothing pays for itself in crystals; it'll take 60 pulls to get, but it won't earn you 60 pulls of extra crystals for abyss. But it's a pretty good deal in terms of performance for your crystals anyway

collecting a shard does bring up a limited time duration that you can view above your hp bar. But you generally should be collecting shards regularly that it shouldn't expire in time

1st phase, if I lose 2/3 weapon crits it's -10 points

Starting with Elysia weapon combo, Kiana immaculate duet and Mei (weapon -> ult x2 -> Atk Seq -> weapon -> ult x2 -> charged x3 -> Ult -> weapon)

• if it's just hle then you can weap at around 990 iirc
• if you're trying to land a last hit attack from mei before swapping to ely then i start with a CA to get the evade skill going so it doesn't trigger QTEs later, basic attack at 996. can't weapon active since that would be on cd when mei gets back

as for the latter i'm not 100% sure about this but on paper
the boss takes more damage when not in crystallize state. Ely causes that state to end sooner. So as mei attacks you kinda want to delay your higher damage hold attacks until the state ends.
in practice for me this was mei weapon (reach 300 sp) > one ult so it's not a complete bar for a cinematic CA > hold atk and mash back to 300 to stall for more time > ult and weapon further if you still need more time

kiana should not be performing immaculate duet at all. That animation takes up alot of time

after ely, just have FWS QTE in to trigger her 3pc stig effect > CA if you need stellar drain (i don't think this is needed so maybe skip this) > weapon active hit for the 8% hp reduction > can ult for a bit more damage > swap to mei

this is more just what i personally worked out for my fight though. I haven't really checked any references so maybe i am missing something

make sure kiana's skill is toggled off to not force a duet when your meter is full btw

Because I don't have Kiana's weapon, I use immaculate duet to wait a bit more for the consolidated state to end and put a bit more damage with Mei

And ultimate to activate Eden's weapon buff

so it's a stalling tactic. That idea would make more sense in Arena when duet is actually slowing down the timer

but for abyss duet doesn't do that to the timer

otherwise crystallize state only reduces damage but the proportions are still the same across mei and kiana. Mei is your main damage dealer so on paper it would make more sense to have her deal damage when she can even when reduced. The only concern is if you're spending her high damage attacks during that state, but as said above this is avoidable (personally i observed no significant difference from altering this sequence though)

anyway i think the alien guard fight is mostly straight forward in p2. I had to FWS WA twice (once to get close to the initial threshold, and again during outburst to gather shards) but it sounds like you can reach the first threshold manually with just ely (so she pops both overall)

in that case you can prob just do a single FWS WA during outburst so the 8% reduction and the gathering happens in one go.

The boss should revert in time due to HLE when mei does the second cycle of actions, but you can always ult more initially if you're still waiting for it to revert

Basically badum has a small instance where she links enemies before her actual WA hits, if you now delay your WA badum collects the shards and the instance that is supposed to link enemies, if there were multiple enemies, triggers your collected shards ending transition early. Then the WA animation will just continue to play and hit the boss

It's just timing and the dodge helps with that

It had the advantage of time and frame rate, but thankfully it's out. My fingers are already sore from pressing the buttons. Xiao Fei's ultimate skill with the 01 button in the upper right corner is simply divine.

I'll add some more details:

1. At the start, use Moonlight to switch characters without any pre-cast animation, hold the direction, switch characters, and press the weapon button simultaneously.

2. Delay the release timing of the puppet to get the damage buff.

3. Use Moonlight's Mortal Dust to dodge (you can pre-press the input button on the keyboard) and instantly switch to Valkyrie Armor. This is crucial; I was at least 3 frames slower than Xiao Fei with Camel.

4. On the first frame, use the Magnetic Storm on Fox and instantly switch to Serpent. Magnetic Storm sometimes hits twice, so you need to time it correctly. My instant switch was 2-3 frames slower.

5. After Serpent's Q, hold the direction and instantly use the ultimate skill. After using the ultimate skill, use AB to instantly use the ultimate skill again. You need to time Serpent's 3B skill to avoid getting stuck.```
