then you'd run into the issue of the game account isnt linked to any hoyoverse account, so its totally inaccessible so you'd have to have different account systems for each game and an account recovery feature in each game for each server which would quickly balloon into like... 20 different account systems to manage for hoyoverse? and to a lesser extent players that have alt accounts on multiple servers would have to juggle like 6 logins instead of the one (using the same hoyoverse account on other servers to make new game accounts).

as far as being able to unlink game accounts from their connected hoyoverse account, that would greatly open the door for hackers to steal hoyoverse accounts, unlink all the game accounts from it and sell them on a black market and for any account recovery process the player would need to know all the UID's for all their game accounts instead of their 1 hoyoverse account ID and so they'd likely never get half of their game accounts back. as it stands now any stolen accounts they just have to identify the one hoyoverse account its on and then give back acess to the whole thing at once.

i do get your reasoning though, it would be convinient in some ways. I'm just pointing out that on a large scale there are also reasons why it is the way it currently is

tbh thats not an option that you can do, you can ask customer support to unlink the account from your hoyoverse account (they dont delete game accounts ever iirc), i think they technically can unlink it but im not sure if they do that in general and if they did they would have to go through the process of verifying that you're the original genuine owner of the account but you can always ask them if they'll do it #how-to-contact-cs

you just need an overseas id like luna said; a chinese id isn't required unless you are based in china (which i assume you aren't)
getting a chinese id/number as a foreigner is already difficult so don't go through the process of doing that

For na that sounds right. But just to clarify in case anything was misunderstood. If you wait till maint to do the update, you'd download the 20gb launcher update, then go into the game and download however much is in there (let's assume 5gb for now)

If you predownload what will happen is you'd download the 20gb launcher update now, and then once maint starts tomorrow you right just need to open the game and download the 5gb.

Overall you're still downloading 25gb either way by the end of it all but the pre download just let's you do most of it now instead of later

that happens when a connection issue corrupts the download (i know you said your internet is ok and it in general is, this is still a connection issue that is corrupting the download), you can try one of the following:
-retry the download
-manually update via the instructions to follow (try the mirrors other than the hoyoverse one since it was that one the launcher failed to download correctly)
-use one of the custom launchers in teh first pin, they tend to download better.

-retry the download

just an info, once the ingame download was available i got the audio_Default... hash issue, so i decided to test (i "redownloaded" 3 times) and i find this:

• downloading the "ingame" stuff just as is available got me a "wrong" version.txt, downloading close to MT end downloaded the correct file (it may just be a coincidence)
• the wrong Version.txt come with an AUDIO_Default hash and is incorrect
• for each try, the AUDIO_Default_Version.txt file had the correct hash
• the correct Version.txt doesnt have an AUDIO_Default hash

so if someone have the correct AUDIO_Default_Version.txt, but still get the "hash" error for that AUDIO_Default, probably they have the bad Version.txt and just deleting the AUDIO_Default.pck ### line will fix it, but this is just for that file, delething any other line can cause the game to redownload audio files

the render options is what it says, render the game x time your resolution being 1.0 the same as the resolution you choose, anything higher will render on a higher resolution and downscaling to yours, so is really heavy on the gpu and that is why the game recommend to use 1.0 on 4k resolutions

if you're ok with starting over in hi3, then just log into hi3 with your hsr/genshin account and it'll make a new account.

if you do not want to start any game over from the beginning, then you'll have to use two logins. but you cannot merge your two hoyoverse accounts together

we can try to delete it and force the game to redownload it:

1. go to the game's CG folder by navigating to Honkai Impact ###\BH3_Data\StreamingAssets\Video
2. sort by size by clicking the Size column title once in File Explorer
3. delete 7.5_MarsMainLine3_CS01... (should be the largest CG and therefore at the top of the sorted-by-size list)
4. click the cg again in the game and you should see a 'download cg' prompt

that happens when a connection issue corrupts the download you can try one or more of the following:
-retry the download
