so i am starting a ilse legacy server in the us as it seems there arent many good ones to play on except the dry reef. others kick you for not donating or paying a patreon. I noticed there arent a lot of people joining the servers i see lately. is everyone switching? i plan on a server with low rules for the expierinced players to compete in events for rewards is isle legacy going out?

With how broken the Legacy search is, you'd be lucky to have people find the server.
Noobz and Asura are pretty well populated.
Your best bet is to have a discord set up as well as have the IP of your server available. That way people can join through direct connect or favoriting.
You'd also need to advertise, otherwise your server will be just another dead one floating around. Idk if you need special permission to advertise in #unofficial-isle-communities but you can look into that.

The search is incredibly outdated and broken. Majority of the time people can't find Asura(and other servers) so you'd need to use alternative ways instead of using the search.

Both are worth playing imho. They both have charm and a unique gameplay to them. The only issue wiht Legacy servers is no official ones, and each unofficial has its own rule list and power hungry admins behind the server making it a little less enjoyable then the official servers on Evrima. Defiantly play a bit of both!

You'll make friends on Legacy easy. Almost all I've made will switch back and forth between Legacy and Evrima with. And you'll figure out pretty quick with people on Legacy to avoid. Legacy is a fun play for sure.

The servers would have "currency" to use to buy Cama or Pue.
Don't expect a balanced dino as they are(and will stay) unfinished in Legacy.

It's current state is it's permanent state. Legacy is abandoned so what you see is what you get.
Personal preference on fun. I personally enjoy it more than Evrima. As do a bunch of communities.

If you're a carnivore, gore piles will give off a red glow.

Most legacy servers provide a 'direct connect' IP Address that you can apply to your launch options on Steam.

As soon as you load the game, (granted the server isnt full) it will connect you to that server.

That's not gonna make it show in the menu. There's no fix for the search menu thing.
When you put the +connect 63.143.56.242:14030 in the launch options space, you just start the game and leave it alone. Don't press anything and it should automatically throw you into the server.

Nvm I read wrong.
If it's not working, close the game and try verifying your files.
Can also try just using the IP.
Close the game. Top left corner on your steam there will be "view". Click that then click game servers. Click favorites, then the + bottom right middle-ish. Input the IP and make sure there isn't a space before or after that magically put itself there before hitting enter. Once that's added, double click the server in your favorites tab. Then wait. Don't press anything else. Shouldn't take long.

if you dont find the server you want on search server, you can connect to a server directly using 2 options,: first get the ip from any server agregator (e.g gamemonotoring or other), pick the isle it will show you a list of current active server, copy the ip of the server, go to your steam right click the isle, on general on launch option write "+ (paste the ip) launch the game (dont touch anything else it will open the game and enter you on the server you had chosen).

Option B: (recommended one), copy the query info from the server you want, go to steam, on top left choose "view" -> "game servers" -> "favorites" tab -> "+" symbol to add a server to favorites, it will open a small box, paste the query info port there, and it will add the server you chose to your favorites list, you can add as many servers you want, then pick one and press connect. the game will then launch and connect you directly into the server.

you can use server list agregators like gamemonotiring and alikes to get the active server list, quick search on google should get you there

after you have chosen a server from a list, you just need to copy the server ip or query and go to your steam->view (top left)-> game servers->on the pop window choose "favorites" tab-> choose "+" symbol bottom on favorites tab, paste the ip or query number for the server you chosen and it will add it to your favorite list, then just go to same tab "favorites" and the server will be listed theren, select it and click "connect", after that steam will launch the game and enter you directly into the server, (dont press nothing while it does so, it takes a few seconds).

Regardless, there is no peace in either. Only survival xD

And legacy AI is usually more reliable. More people on the server, harder it is to find ai. There can only be a set amount of ai(and their dead bodies) on the server at once. The servers saying "high ai" are click bait as AI can't be adjusted in legacy.
But lower populated servers, it's easier. Ai usually spawns when you're below like 70% hunger.

To correct the admin, the isle Evrima is still in active development.
Legacy(which this channel is for) was abandoned years ago. Still playable but no updates will be made. When you install isle, it will be the default installation. You'd need to go to the beta tab and switch to Evrima if that's what you wanna play.

Legacy is the OG game. It's abandoned. No updates. What you see is what you get.
Hordetest is when Devs are planning on putting out lots of stuff and need to stress test first.
Spiro is an old Evrima map. Not very populated.
Current Evrima(forget what it's called in beta tab) is Gateway map. That's where all the people are. That one gets all the updates.

This is assuming you meant what the difference is between the versions of game, not servers.

Legacy is the default version of the game when you first install the isle. But yes, the old abandoned version.
Spino, Anky, bary, and quite a few others are what they call "sandbox" dinos because they were never finished/fine-tuned. You can get them by being nested in, or by requesting/buying through the discord of whatever server you're playing on.

You'd need to either request/buy/get nested on whatever unofficial server you're playing on. They won't be on the character selection screen on survival servers since they were never finished and are considered sandbox dinos. So you'd have to get them by one of the ways I mentioned.
Ask in the discord of whatever server you're on.
