In addition to what @peak cedar suggested, setup a tent (200 yards away) and tree stand in close near the rest zone -- much much earlier than the lynx zone starts. If nothing shows then sleep until the next time for that zone and sneak into the stand early again. That was the way that I was able to complete the photo quest.

Yes, and instead they decided to change the environment to be more challenging with rain and fog interference, etc. A constant layer of snow and ice and its pretty hard to ride the 4-wheeler around on Medved too. The frozen lakes also change how you plan travel routes.

Late reply but no. Handgun hunting is pretty much illegal, with some exceptions. You can have a pistol as a termination weapon if you are using non-lethal traps or doing cave hunting, for badgers for example.
