hey was just looking at the notification that meg had sent out for the hunting lodge today and the outpost in the image is new because of the rockyness in front of it so to me that is making me point more towards canada for the reason that canada is a little rocky. I also think its canada just for the reason that all the waterfowl stuff is getting fixed and I know that some waterfowl migrate to and from there quite a bit.

I'm wondering if it could be seasonal variations to existing maps. Like Hirchfelden in waterfowl season with higher water levels and trees with more yellow than orange colors. The pier in the second clue looks like ones in Hirch, but water is higher and it looks like it's extended with planks at the bottom, boats added and also some trees in water to the right.

It is possible, in principle that was my first idea when seeing that the trees and vegetation are those of Yukon, but I do not see similarities of the images with existing map areas, it is really disconcerting

here is the thing i will say about the watch tower. Be careful using it as an indicator on where the map might be located. government buildings (especially many buildings like this that are now considered landmarks) are trademarked. this means that companies cannot replicate the designs without paying a royalty. It is interesting to me that it appears to be the same tower that is on SRP, but a bunch have predicted already its a reused asset map.

i just dont know how accurate a company can make something like a watch tower, legally, without falling into some sort of trademark discussion.

If the timing of the year - publishing the clues - is significant..?... then it might point to the southern hemisphere - and possibly Australia. It is Autumn in Australia these months, -- and the pictures - clues show autumn?

I actually started thinking about the timing of the release of clues - I'm team Sweden, so take it with a grain of salt - but part of me wonders if they are pushing the release date up to June 7th as opposed to late June like usual.

Sweden's independence day is June 6th (a Monday this year) and the only reason I think Sweden is because of the 5 year anniversary. If its a celebration of their home country...wouldn't surprise me if they want to release around that time.

Sweden does have firetowers, from what i read - although not many? what i was saying earlier is...a company like a video game developer...can use a location in their game as a generic landscape. buildings become an issue in terms of royalties. I am not a lawyer, so i have no idea the intricacies, but at some point if the likeness of a building is similar to that of a government owned or private building, the company is required to pay royalties. I have no idea where that threashold is, but i probably would not go looking for irl examples of that firetower to see where they exist.

Must say, I'm getting slightly worried. Would the price of a DLC be justified if its a map of reused assets which limits the geography and animals species. I mean even if we jump to Sweden or Siberia wouldn't it be just more of the same? Africa or Australia and Asia would at least have more species, but that would mean much more work.

recently steam had a couple of updates to its cloud save system and it takes time to sync the files when you exit the game, check the settings and make sure that Cotw updates are checked as Priority

that way if it fails to sync the first time it will sync until successful

I noticed they said this next update would add a lot to the game. Imagine if every map that seemed to fit added some sort of duck/goose species to really highlight the waterfowl rework. Great way to give some addition hype to other maps, such as Medved with snow geese and a good incentive for people to buy DLC maps who haven't already 😛

I immediately went to Saskatchewan because it’s the duck hunting capitol of the world or something of the sorts. I’ve recently shifted to Sweden though and I’m really 100% on Sweden.

I'm pretty hopeful that it's going to be Sweden and I think those hopes are justified based on the environment we have seen so far. As to what part of Sweden it'll be I'm 80/20 on Center/North.
