Tbh having a harvest season is better than having no season with unlimited bag limits like in AZ. You can erase any snake that might possibly be a threat, with very few exceptions for endangered/protected species.

in CO you can only hunt prairie rattlers and Massasaugas and Midgetnoses are protected and the season is June 15 to August 15 annually, with a daily pag limit of 3 snakes per person and a possession limit of 6 snakes per person

Here I know here in Idaho you can hunt/collect rattlers in the wild since all our species are common (prairies and Timbers are everywhere). I don’t wanna bother them though, they keep the rats outta my house and I’m happy.
