So, you want to be a tank. With tank-ish abilities. Cool. Have a look at NorseDemigods and see if one of the demi god classes is a tank. Also, do a thunderstore.io mods search for 'classes' and see what comes up there. Just, if you like one of those, choose one that's recently updated. Good luck with it!

looking for people to play valhiem, im currently trying to explore the snow biome and do some more exploring in the plains
Does anyone know the main differences and upsides/downsides of the Seasons and Seasonality mods if I wanted to have one on a server? Would love to add one of them to have seasons in the game but would like to lean toward whichever one is a little less demanding on the server.

There's a few different mods that do that. Take a look over at thunderstore.io and search for 'weather' and see what comes up. Choose on that's been recently (3 weeks or so) updated.

Sounds like you need to use a modpak that makes your world more interesting with new Biomes, gear, resources, recipes, mobs, Magic and stuff. Something like RtDMMO but that's not for the faint of heart, for sure.
I do use some already, its just a me problem. The game, especially modded, is fantastic.

Maybe you can find a replacement with a search over at thunderstore.io just make sure it's updated within the last 3 weeks or so.

Go to thunderstore and search for building. Lots of mods will come up. Find one you like and make sure it's recently updated like within the last 3 weeks or so.

I am wondering if anyone has ever modded in the ability for monsters to drown?
it feels like a sorely needed feature when you're being chased across the sea by greydwarves who are made of rocks yet do not sink, or things swimming out around my walls
That would actually be super simple haha.
Like, just need to make them to be hurt by water just like you get damaged if you're in smoke.
Or could make them lose their stamina and then take damage just like the player.
option 2 would make the most sense, although i dunno if they even have stamina

You would make it into a piece by importing it into Unity and then adding Piece component, very simple.
i can work unity but only for 3d stuff, i can't code at all

Are there any mods that reduce and or optimize instances? My base is sitting around 7000 right now and im not sure why. The trees in the forests around me since im in the meadows? Cus my base isnt really even that complex
Actually, 7,000 doesn't seem all that bad to me. Are you getting any lag/desync symptoms? Could it maybe be lots of clutter you've got at the base?
Instance count is a scapegoat people use to blame low performance.
It literally does not matter.
You could try turning down some of the graphics settings in your game's menu to see if that helps.

Anyone experienced with AzuExtendedPlayerInventory mod? For some reason I cannot use the first of the three quick slots. Ive set it to Q1 "Y", Q2 "X" and Q3 "C". X and C seems to be fine for anything, food and mead. But for some reason no reaction on "Y" no matter what item I put in there.

Hello, anyone know how to spawn in boars (or other animals) while using mods? I read on reddit that it seems to cause issues with the devcommands, which do not work for me.
For devcommands you need to have ServerDevcommands installed on your game and the server and you need to have your SteamID in the servers' Adminlist file.
Is this necessary even if I play offline?

Anyone experienced equipment get lost after dying if AzuExtendedPlayerInventory mod activated?
My mate and i have this issue now like every hour, equipped gear slots suddenly empy after dying and picked up our grave, we re about to get rid off of that mod if we cannot fix it somehow xD
Btw, is it reccomended to play Valheim vulcan or standart with mods? i am not sure about the difference and if its possibly affect any mods
Welp, can't get it to work. Followed the instructions and still get the error. Seems I am making a mistake I don't see.
Use randyknapps version of inventory plus mod instead of that less slots but you dont lose your gear

We just got BepInExPack_Valheim v5.4.2202 by denikson wich is necessary for MassFarming v1.11.0 by k942, AzuExtendedPlayerInventory v1.4.6 by Azumatt and Quick_Stack_Store_Sort_Trash_Restock v1.4.11 by Goldenrevolver. Those 4 mods, i was also thinking about a mod conflict, but not sure why its just him having issues.

Client side mods can be used wherever unless the server host is forcing a mod whitelist like azu anticheat etc etc
If people are using Randy's mods with other inventory mods that's the only time I've seen this happen. So using "more slots" and Valheim Plus being common causes.
I've never really seen that issue report with Azumatt's mod so I would suspect a mod incompatibility happening here
yeah, i think the same, using 2 mods that do inventory is when it usually happens, unless they mean from a chest then yeah.. desync can do that.

His mod makes the tombstone bigger so if someone doesn't have the mod I think you can get item loss from graves
This might be more a server issue but not sure where else to ask, I'm playing on a hosted server with a few friends and we are running into an issue where sometimes when someone logs out and gets back on their character will be rolled back by a lot and not have any of the items or experience they had when they logged out. I have the ServerCharacters mod on so I dont know if there is a setting in there I messed up or should have played with before. There are no issues with the server rolling back its only characters.
I had this problem before with a rare issue with a few mods calling code called "unpatchall", it should say at the end of their log files after shutting down if that's happening. Using "log out" before quitting the game will prevent that issue if that's what's happening.
Ill keep a look out for that next time it happens for them haven't seen it and they aren't sure but also having an issue with target portal where some players cant see any portals after logging out so I am not sure if they are related.
I've had this same thing happen to players on my server, but generally their last logout is still saved, but as a backup instead.
This isn't quite a fix for it, but when it does happen, I just have them logout and I'll swap file names around to the most previous one and they're good to go.

Hey, since the new update all my characters are without clothes in the login screen and i cant join my server... Has anyone else encounterd something like this? Are there incompatible mods to the new update?
Yes, changes in the new update has broken some mods. Replace your old mods with those updated in the last month or so.
so ive basically got to wait or turn off everything that hasnt updated?

I use mod managers to play with mods, but everytime I want to play I have to open r2modman and start modded
Is there a way to skip opening r2modman and start playing with mods from steam? If I recall correctly I was able to do it when I used vortex manager

You could mod your game install directly, which would make it so clicking start from steam would start the game modded.
There are a couple, very good, reasons to not do that.

You will need to manually notice, remember, and update every mod you have. The game will automatically update, so failing to update or manage your mods will result in everything breaking.

Changing mods will be painful, as you will need to go and clean out anything you have installed

You won't be able to use a separate set of mods to play multiplayer vs singleplayer or anything like that (eg playing on two different servers)
yeah there are multiple reasons to use mod managers, specially when it comes to keeping them updated

you can close the r2modman after starting the game.
you can make multiple copies of the valheim folder rename them and install mods directly. I even separate it, for example modman will install to default folders and I will just copy them to the valheim/bepinex/plugins for each modded version. This way neither steam nor modman will update the game and the mods.
Cron Job but requires some setup.
Probably need Server Devcommands mod on server too so that broadcast or say work properly.
I do this for my servers all the time. It's much easier and quicker than trying to handle it all without the r2modman.

On solo game or server? Installed ServerDevcommands mod on game (and server)? Put your SteamID in the server's Adminlist file, if it's on a server? Remember you need to type in the 'devcommands' command first?

I've used an awful lot of mods and never had that problem. Check your log files for any errors that might explain the situation.

They've retired from Valheim modding and all of their mods have console commands in them with a now broken implementation
Wolves always destroy all my garbage, is there a mod that makes it so tamed wolves never attack when they are in their (stay) state, or a mod that makes wolves do no damage to buildings or a mod that makes buildings invincible? I am tired of all my animals running amuck 😭

The BetterWards mod lets you set structure damage to zero. I think maybe the WardIsLove mod does as well.
do I need to place a ward for it to work or can I just set structure damage to 0 and leave it at that, or do I set the structure damage to 0 for a specific building piece?
First you need to edit the mods' config file to set structure damage off then you need to create and place the ward and then activate the ward.

Had the same issue, I went through each mod that I had and turned them off one at a time. Joined game and tested. I found one mod (that was outdated) that was causing devcommands not to work.

azu's anitcheat + servercharacters, anticheat to enforce a modlist and server characters to keep items/characters on the server.

I suppose worst case I could just notate the modified values and persist them manually

••More_Vanilla_Build_Prefabs - gives build pieces that can be found in game but not normally in the build menu, such as dvergr furniture
••Gizmo - allows rotation of pieces on x, y and z axis, and can change the degrees of rotation
••Chest Snap - allows chests to snap together for ease of placement
••Build_Camera_Custom_Hammers - allows you to disengage from your body and move around, including through walls and rocks etc. Helps with building underwater and in hard to get to places.
••Infinity Hammer - copy and paste pieces or buildings, move pieces or buildings.
••PlanBuild - allows the creation of a blueprint in order to save a copy of your creations, which you can then give to others or build on a new world.
there is quite a few great piece mods, I think OdinArchitect and OdinsKingdom are my favs though.

I got a question. I realize how to install mods in the first place but i do not want to play with mods all the time. Is the only way to deactivate mods moving them out of the respective folder they need to be in? or is there another more comfy way like unchecking checkboxes? (thinkin of recording some building with better creative and plant everything, but for normal runs i want no mods on at all)
Unchecking checkboxes....sounds like you just want to use a mod manager.
r2modman and thunderstore mod manager are the normal ones people use. Gale mod manager is a newish one.
You can find them all on the thunderstore website for the Valheim community.
though, that stated, it's only going to load the mods from the profile. If you have anything tainting your default game install, it's recommended to wipe the folder and re-verify files in steam to get a clean game folder.
Okay...thanks for the input... gonna go with moving the dll out of the folder then... it is not much of a hassle, I just need them occasionally for recording a building video... I do not want to install a heck ton of stuff just have it more comfy 😄 Helped me a lot decided which route to take - thanks!
Alright. Just saying the mod manager allows multiple modding profiles, launching vanilla, and overall easier management.
I might come back to that if i decide to use them mods more often. But for the purpose of trying out and seeing how it works for me it would be a bit of an overkill... no need to overcomplicate stuff 😄

IIRC, the BetterWards and WerdIsLove mods can do that. Probably other things can turn it on, too.

I have a g-portal server running a Valheim world. Can anyone tell me if there is something that needs to be done besides copying the config and plugins folders to g-portal to get it to work? I did set Mod-Choice to Bepinex (not Valheim Plus) in G-portal.

Hi folks. This is probably a silly question, but is there a way to tell if a mod (for a dedicated server) has to be used by all players or if it can only be installed by the admin? I don't know if I made myself clear.
I.e. is it possible to see this difference somehow when I search through the mods?
nah, there isn't any category for "server only" cause there is only like 5 or so mods that are server only, the rest are client only or client/sync config settings with server.

I've tried to search cause I assumed this has been asked before but is there a way to set it so that the Runestones in EpicLoot are craftable and you don't just have to farm the bosses over and over in order to get them?
Player. and server log will show messages like:
Received Leash version 1.2.6 and minimum version 1.2.6 from the server.
Received Dual Wield version 1.0.9 and minimum version 0.0.0 from the server.
Where the former it probably going to disallow connection if you dont have the right version, and the latter will almost always allow you regardless... but not always iirc. And yeah, it's extremely tedious that there isn't a subset of tags like serverMandated serverSyncd etc. The only good way to find out is to try them and hope you tested everything that can fail before you get too deep into a game.
I've started listing and categorizing any mod i try out on my server, so hopefully I know where it needs to go if i continue using/start using it again later, and can then script handlers to do that. It's a bit of a pita.
The site tagging is probably so simplified because the diversity of tags required to describe the various combinations of server/client and how bad the rammiifcations of a mismatch are.... is fairly convoluted. server and clcient or kick, server and client or only map-see portals you have visited this session, client only ok, but server too if you want uniform configs, whatever, but yur leashed tames will be unleashed etc
your complete setof fully upgraded backpacks will be destroyed if you disable the mod and start a map containing them in chests/on the ground/item stands etc
I tried some of them and the player who helped me test them was able to join the server without having them installed. However, inside he couldn't see the changes that I could see.
So I finally decided to take them off.

The ones I had installed and the player didn't see the changes are:
- Seasons
- Longship Upgrade
- PlanBuild
planbuild is strictly cliant AND server
But with PlanBuild the player can see the copying and placement of buildings.
But not the changes to the terrain.
longship should be fine client only...iirc. I have a shudnal modified longship in my harbour, and nobody else has ever needed it, and it snot on my server... but maybe they also didnt see the modifications.. im not sure
seasons i dont know, but seems like it would be server side, maybe not client-required, but probably is
thats odd, but i have no direct experience with it in multiplayer, all i know is that it could run client side only, but doesnt becaus eof the potential for griefing...and probably some of its terrain modification aspects wouldnt work... not sure

I tried the hoe to flatten the ground in a circular shape. The player sees the ground flatten but still with the grass at the original height.
people without shudnal-LongshipUpgrades in my server have stoodon the boat, but maybe didnt see the ballistae... idk
so as per the above quips: the end results can vary a lot depending on the various client/server combinations
The player sees the boat but not the changes.
He saw the longsip but not the shields, the awning, the lantern, etc.

It is possible for clients not using PlanBuild to connect to a server using it. Those clients won't see any planned pieces but are still able to play. You can not connect to a server without PlanBuild when the mod is installed on your local game for griefing reasons.
re: planbuild maybe it changed, i thought i recall being denied access ... but probably that was becasue client had it and server didnt...idk
I don't know what to say. The player can connect and only see the copied building placement but not the terrain changes. Maybe it's a weird bug. But in the end I decided to remove most of them.
I want vanilla server using only server side mods that can help me manage.

It depends on the mods. Some would be ok with that. Others wouldn't.
It might also be that they'd prevent you from joining the server. Depends.
I have a world hosted on a Valhost server and the service allows you to switch mods on and off. I was hoping to run a little test on my own pc before getting my friends to install mods too

Use r2modman to install your mods and you can select buttons inside it for Vanilla or Modded playing.

It would depend on what's in your vanilla game folder. You're just going to have to try this stuff and see what happens. There's no way to predict these things based on the info you can provide. There's always going to be unknown factors affecting it.
no, i specifically said a mod, i know about those things, but i wanted something with a bigger radius, because even with walls around my base and a perimeter of work benches, i still get fulings every now and then, im also using cllc and dont want 5 star fulings at my house

hello, is there any mod or guide that improves dedicated server experience? unless desync and other ping issues got fixed in the past year or 2? found guides to increase bandwidth but they were outdated
There are multiple causes for server 'desync and other ping issues'. It's impossible to recommend much without more info about your particular problem.
When did the problem start? Does it occur in all locations? In all biomes? With other particular players on the server? Only when players are together in one spot? Only when you're near complex buildings?
OIC, ok for that I personally use the InfinityHammer and ComfyGizmo mods. Infinity Hammer lets you put any item in the game on your hammer tool for placing. You put the item on your hammer by using one of the 4 hammer icons in it's tool menu. Or, if you know the item's prefab name, you can use the devcommand "hammer [item name]" to put the item on your hammer.
Read the descriptions of the 4 icons to see how they will work for you. And the Gizmo mod makes it easier to place the item after it's on your hammer.

The two things you should have, IMHO, for the server would be the r2modman mod manager and an in-game configuration manager mod.
right, but those are just mod tools? probably not neccessary for me now since the playthrough is going to be full vanilla. Is desync still an issue when players are far apart from each other? does increasing bandwidth limit on the server do anything positive?
It's hard to predict your potential issue(s) before you actually have them. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it is broke, get back to us.

PlantEverything, Build_Camera_Custom_Hammers_Edition, one of the refuelling mods to keep torches and fires lit
the windows version of the game automatically loads dls it finds, so you could try moving the /BepInEx and /doorstop_libs directories, and the winhttp.dll out of the valheim directory, and it should be vanillla.
Linux is started with start_game_bepinex.sh or similar to preload the libraries, so if you just dont do that it would be vanilla.
Then you can join any vanilla server.
Personally I have a good idea which mods are client-side, so I would probably try to connect to a vanilla server to determine which of the mods didnt like that, and just rename the 'dll extension to disable them for play on vanilla servers, and still use my client-side mods. (and use that knowledge to write a script to automatically toggle the names of those dlls so i never had to do it manually again)
iirc any of the build camera mods may work: if you set the mods' build distance from workstation to a fairly large number, like 100m, then this is also the distance the playerbase effect will cover.
For a long time i would have troll raid events at bases ...and nothing would ever turn up. It was the build camera mod i was using and the workbench radius i had set that was responsible. Now I have them set to 32m and the camera can move x2 that far. It's a good compromise. Disabling raids entirely is a little insipid: they also bring you resources, let you develop passive defenses, and give tames something to do...and you too, if you choose to participate in what goes on outside your defenses.

also, targetportal is good, but if you like the way xportal works the targetportal might not be your preference: you cant just walk into a targetportal and instantly escape if somehing is right behind you

so my main difficulty in the game is when I start the stonehenge is usually encircled by steep cliffs and I have a big chance of getting hurt from fall when I explore. I found out recently the game doesnt have tunnels so I cant apply minecraft like techniques here it seesms the only safe way is to make a floor on top of the cliffs, extend it past the edges and building stairs but that is even more risky becauuse I can easily fall off and the game doesnt seems to easily let me build pieces under me and there is no flyby camera to place them. So Im always forced to take a particular path which is annoying because I would prefer the safest zone in the game (meadows) to be my future "HQ CITY" with NPCs and a place I can easily get to or from (like down the cliffs from the stonehenge there could be a dock)
I still have issues with that after about 100 hours, but I dont know if some mod could help here (maybe a prebuilt 6 floors staircase? or elevators?) that can be built / used right at the start
You could play on a new world that probably won't have the cliffs.
Sure but I do like cliffs it just seems there is no good way to build on them especially when trying to get from the base of the cliff to the summit and how enemies dont seem to have the same issue as me can basically ignore cliffs

Most of the time when I generate a world it seems I get a starting point surrounded by cliffs OR there is little terrain and then it's surrounded by cliffs but it really seems like the meadows is always me, atop cliffs, and no base to make a docks/easily get from the docks to the starting point

Is anyone familiar with spawner tweeks?
Want to use a 1x1 stone block for a spawner.
I use "tweak_object component=spawner". All is good it tells me the rock is now a spawner.
I then use "tweak_spawner Spawn=Boar,1,1,1,1 respawn=5 maxtotal=5 triggerdistance=10". It then tells me the spawner is now going to spawn up to 5 boar when I trigger it at 10m. So all good..........
I walk away and come back, no ghost no god. I even portal 1000m away and come back.
Problem is, no boars are spawning
Any Idea what I am doing wrong ?
UPDATE. I used Greydwarf instead of Boar, spawner is now working. There must be something I am missing to get Boars to spawn.

Correct. If you are outside any building zones, like a workbench, etc. It will take 30 RL minutes or so, and helps if you are not in the cell.

You can do that with either PlanBuild or InfinityHammer.
The latest patch broke 'some' mod options. Not all. Check your individual mods for the last time they were updated by their authors. Any update over a month or so would be suspect.

from what i heard if they are in a pen they are limited to 15 chickens and eggs, and once they get to 15 they dont lay eggs, so i wanted something where we put them in a coup so the eggs auto hatch until 15 then they keep laying egss so when we kill some they will re grow themselves, ykwim?
and im not sure, can chickens be starred? im using CLLC btw so with this mod will they be able to be starred

Use two breeders. One breeder for eggs ( I believe it needs to be 8m high), one breeder/slaughterhouse (use a puffer fish) for meat and feathers. Or just use the tallone and have the eggs hatching at the bottom.

hi all, I am looking for a mod, that let's say player selects an item to build, and it keeps track a list of the materials that you need.
To explain it better, I am rebuilding my base, and I destroyed everything. So now, I am building my workbench and all of its upgrades. how can I track what materials do I need for all workbench upgrades other than going in the building menu every time for each item to check? Is there a mod for that?
Could possibly build the workbench and upgrades out of the way and tear down and replace them when you have a spot for them.

I was thinking if there is something, that for example you can make a list, by selecting multiple items that you want to build and you get a sum of how many pieces you need per build. For example workbench and all the upgrades you will need X wood, X stone etc

Another option might be to load up an old copy of your world and make a blueprint of your base with the PlanBuild mod.
Then you could use that blueprint to place a planned copy of your base in the world and use the plan totem to give you a list of needed pieces. You could make a list manually from that info.

i played fairly extensively with renderlimits, but ended up going back to my everything-off, LOD-at-max config
zonescouter and renderlimits (iirc) do make a nice combo when you want to force a zone to remain active in your absence for breeding/taming/brewing purposes
or in my case; so my tame seekers would continue killing necktails which i then use in fishtraps... unlike breeding/taming/brewing: killing and autopickup of the necktails doesnt happen very well in the players absence

just a dumb mod idea: Name "Get gud" - Function: turns colors negative, set hp to 1, no matter what, gives monsters 1337x hp, gives player god mode every minute, but every other minute turns it off. Makes resouces very scarce.

Alright, I was contemplating starting a new game with mods, but I prefer to keep difficulty and survival mechanics and maybe enhance them a bit. I don't think there are any mods which add the wood floors as buildable- if there is one that adds them as buildable you would be able to repair them.
There are a few mods which make mistlands structures buildable, you could see if any of those make those pieces buildable

ATTENTION! Be carefully, if you change the multiplicator, the exedent items will be destroy! For example, you can't have 100 wood log if the max item stack is 50, the stack will be reduced to 50!

since load order doesn't matter, I load/install the mods manually. Then just run via steam. (linux ver, you do have to do a bit of tweaking the launch script if you want the console, but that's easy)

That's why modmanagers like r2 are so great, makes it easy to complete beginners.
Just make sure to only subscribe to mods that has been recently updated for minimal headache.
It's a lot less scary when you know you're auto saving regular backups of your world. You could even 'archive' a world file pair into another separate folder once every morning, if you wanted to be extra cautious about it.

When your world saves are set to 'local' at the game start menus, your game auto saves world file pairs (the .db and .fwl files) to this hidden folder in windows:
C:\Users\ <username> \AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local
You can copy the most recent auto saved file pair from there to any other folder you create as an 'archive' folder for the extra copies so that the copy isn't over written. Just keep the file pairs together. That's important.

You could use the "find" devcommand for that. It'll show their locations on the map. You'll need to use the correct prefab name for the creatures you are looking for. It will show you the tamed and untamed creatures.

Is there a way to get freefly mode to honor invert mouse setting? (regular fly does honor invert mouse setting though)
Also is there a way to get regular fly to use my crouch keybind instead of L-Ctrl for downward movement? (freefly does use my crouch keybind for downward movement though)
I play on Linux using Steam Windows version via Proton btw.
Try using ServerDevcommands to rebind the regular fly mode control keys. And go through it's other options while you're in there, too. There may be other things you'd like it to do for you.
Oh, and if no better options come up, you could also try an internet search to see if there's a mouse control utility, or maybe even built in setting, for mouse inversion with your particular Linux distro OS. You never know what you might turn up that way.
And, I thought of another possibility for you. You can try asking @devout gazelle Kuusela if one or another of his mods would be better able to control the mouse control binds for you.

That's true but it appears to be still working fine anyway. I guess it's one of those exceptions to the rule in that the ways that it adjusts the comm parameters haven't been affected by the ongoing game and server updates.
I'll give that a go then and see if it helps.

Hey yall, ive been playing modded valhiem and stuff, some textures seem to have like a pink texture box (some caps, particle effects from a few things); however, for my friend (on the same mods) theres no issue and he can see the textures fine. ive tried repairing game files and etc, is it my windows is corrurpted
Turn your PC off and on again and try it then. If it's still messed up, run your game without the mods and try it then.

I think there have been a few, since it's a vanilla object. So some mods have added it to the world generation.
Not sure if any all up to date but you can always use Expand World Data to add it to the vegetation data.

Removing mods is the best way to increase performance. Not all mods are made with that in mind.

Any mod that changes their faction (FactionAssigner or Expand Faction) Both available at Thunderstore.
Probably the best way would be to individually give them infinite health using the InfinityHammer mod rather than changing all of them in your world all at once.
Willybach's HD (Nexusmods) has a step by step walkthrough to get HD textures installed.

Yes, read the iinstall instructions there. Most mods will say there.
To be honest I don't like the tags on thunderstore. I'd prefer something like 'server-only' 'client-only' and sync(both). With the 3 tags combinations it would be easier to cover all possible mods. Also some authors do tag them properly and some do not tag at all so it's one of the things that you learn from someone or by yourself. There are very few server-only mods and admin mods, the majority are either client only or have config syncing. Here is how I categorize them #dedicated-server message
@devout gazelle Server Devcommands mod is working well thanks! One question though, I can no longer change regular fly speed by holding Shift+C then Mouse Wheel to alter the speed. Changing speed that way still works for freefly though. Is there another method of changing regular fly speed on the fly? (pun very intended lol)
You probably already know this but I thought I'd mention it anyway just in case. You can use the 'sprint' key to toggle between hi-speed and regular fly speed. 🙂

I can get slow fly speeds using a number after the 'fly' command. And you could bind it to a shortcut key. Although, I might be getting that from one of my mods so that might not work for you.

That's common. The best way to reduce frame drop is keep instances low and limit the number of light sources.

I think that because you can find all mods on Thunderstore, and can only find a very limited number on Nexus is a better reason for users. Most dont care about all the "extra reasons" until they start using the manager. End users want a large selection and ease of access. Thunderstore has the better.

correct me if I'm wrong but that mod only adds the ability to change your hairstyle which is possible to do with the barbershop tool. I was looking just for more customization in the character creation section with more hair styles because currently there's no diversity among shorter hair
Supposedly, mod profile codes can vary between the two managers.
At least it can in some instances, possibly might depend on profile size. I forget how if works but I've seen it present issues in the past.

Mostly, yeah. Nexus' mod manager doesn't work out of the box for Valheim and is difficult for modders to support. Combine that with NexusMods' policy change a couple years ago where they own anything you upload to their servers and reserve the right to redistribute it indefinitely regardless of the author's permission and you have a mostly abandoned hosting site when it comes to Valheim.
I actually still prefer Nexus myself for most things, and even though I get a small profit from their donation points system when people download my mods there, I still direct the Valheim mod community to ts.io. It's a better smoother experience for end users.

What sort of loot filtering are you looking for? And so you mean for your solo game or a server?
can be solo or server ill tell my friends to download it aswell but server would be good so that they dont have to download as i host my server, and those kinda filter where i can easily turn on or off stuff that i dont want to auto pick up for example resin, greydwarf eye etc
Well, for you to be able to turn loot drops on/off, you'd have to edit .cfg files one way or another.
The easiest way to do that would be to use a configuration manager mod that gives you an in-game menu screen where you can make any changes you want.
In some cases, you'd then need to restart the server and in other cases you wouldn't need a restart. That's about as easy as it gets.

Yes, you could load in the configuration manager and any loot control mods with r2modman from thunderstore.io
You'd want to spend a little time getting familiar with r2modman but a little patience would be worth it in the long run.
im already running 7-8 mods in r2modman but not getting any good lootfilter mod thats why im here 😄

Make sure that any loot mods you choose are recently updated for the BogWitch game version. You can have a look at CLLC (Creature Level & Loot Control) it'll do what your want and a lot of other things. So, it has a bit of a learning curve.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with graphics mods. I believe that any graphics mods are going to add to the server's resource requirement and probably make it more 'laggy' in the long run.
I've gotten used to vanilla graphics and kind of like the way the vanilla game looks now. Maybe someone else in here will have a suggestion for you on that.

Not easily, because the game removes other spawn points when the trader is spawned.
Upgrade World mod provides location_register command which allows you register the trader at your position to get the map icon.
Then you can either reset the zone or manually place the location nearby with Infinity Hammer or World Edit Commands mods (hammer_location or spawn_location command).
The existing location can be removed with Upgrade World command locations_remove to remove the icon too.
Remember backups before starting to mess with your world.

Helldivers is built on what? Bitsquid? It's much different than UnityEngine and uses Lua I believe, where Unity3d and Valheim uses C#.

Valheim isn't a bad game to learn about game modding, it's fairly easy, though there are easier out there. Games that offer full modding support, where they give mod devs an SDK or Project File. Not saying that the Valheim devs couldnt or wont do that for us at some point, and I for one hope they do look into making us a modding SDK, but as of right now it requires we rip the game, unstrip some of the dll files, setup a C# project, and then repair the all the assets in unity just to get setup.

When you asked in the other channel, you had the tombstone coordinates (x,y,z). Is that the case here, too?
Because, if you have the coordinates, you can just use the ServerDevcommands on the server and on your game to get use of the 'goto x,y,z' command. You'd need to be an admin on the server for that.
I don't know of a way to do it without the coordinates. Sorry.

Already decoded the world.db file to .json and searched for possible 'tombstone' locations
Found a bunch, but their coordinates make no sense :/
If you have Server Devcommands mod on server + admin client, then you can use find command to find stuff. Then you can use tp command to teleport people to those coordinates.
Tried that already, find player_tombstone 2500 only shows me my own tombstones on the map?
If you can't get the find command to work, another option might be to use the DiscordConnecter mod which, I believe, can be configured to give you an announcement of player deaths with coordinates when a player dies.
You'd need to install the mod and direct it's messages to a channel on your discord server which you could limit access to just your Admins. That mod is here: https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/nwesterhausen/DiscordConnector/

Bummer. It works for me but I'm not using the 'NoMap' modifier.
Find command only finds objects. It doesn't do any data based filtering.
In other words, if everything works correctly, it wouldn't just return your tombstones.

For servers you should always do manual install of mods.

Clients only have their nearby objects, so for a world wide search you need some server side support (such as Server Devcommands, Upgrade World, etc).
Either that was a button or a mod I had that showed the collision boxes around copper/etc so I knew what to break near it to get it to fall. Anyone know?

Those are a generic error msg. caused by an out of date or broken mod.
It doesn't tell which mod is causing the problem. You'll have to troubleshoot them to find out which one is causing the problem. Good luck with it.

It should be said somewhere that you can actually disable Steam updates if you read-only the asset file, which is necessary if you mod. FYI. Anyone searching hopefully sees this.

It seems there is a DRM system called KeyManager which allows people to control access to and ban users and servers from using their mods. This resembles the fiasco in which a group of half-life modders programmed a logic bomb to crash the game when certain users loaded the mod. It also allows people to charge money for mods. This likely violates the Valheim EULA and Steam ToS.

Are you sure about this? Irongate's Legal Team might have a different opinion. Someone should ask the developers about this just to make sure people don't get DMCA'd or C&D'd. Because Bethesda already went after a Chinese DRM system for Skyrim Mods.
What legal action can they use about it? The only thing they stated was "we don't like this, pls don't" which has 0 effect on the long-term.

All it does is let the author of the mod decide who gets to use their mod.
Keep in mind that it uses Valheim which is owned by Irongate and this is extremely risky especially if a user who has been banned from a mod will email Irongate directly about this. It could cause Irongate to send out C&D letters.
A whitelist/blacklist is not against any EULA/ToS bug yeah, just report it if you feel it's wrong.
It is more then just about banning people from using mods, this system has been used to paywall content in mods too. While most of these have been addressed ie, Nexus banned a particular offender, some still lurk in the wild. It would be prudent for Irongate to just nip this in the bud by sending a C&D to the people developing the mechanism that enables this behavior.
There will always be people who abuse good intentions and those should be reported but the system itself is fine.

MyDirtyHoe still works, AdvancedTerrainModifiers is more balanced as it doesn't remove rise terrain costs and requires stonecutter in range, plus it adds better interface for what it's doing. @dusty spade

install r2modman manager its way easier to install, disable and desinstall, though you will have to open it before playing
I tried using ATM, it's basically just a few more options when doing it as far as I can tell. I've spent so many countless *hours flattening I almost just wish there was a free tool to auto flatten an area to where you're standing.
Try MyDirtyHoe than, it flattens to your level as long as you are standing on ground and not building piece

Well, creating npcs that can be tamed and breed is easy and doesn't require much knowledge about coding.
The rest however does, so you would need to learn basic c# for those types of features.

Guys, i'm trying to install BepInEx for the first time on my Ubuntu dedicated server. The server has been running fine without. I'm following the BepInEx guide, but i'm not certain if i need x86 or x64. The executable my Ubuntu server is launching is: valheim_server.x86_64. So i assumed x64, but launching ./run_bepinex.sh for the first time resulted in:

The executable "/home/container/valheim_server.x86_64" is not compiled for x86 or x64 (might be ARM?)

I just love using Epic Loot and CLCC to make it harder. Just adds so much more to the game.
Then with the bounties mod to get more of them, even better.
Have had some wild bounties against bosses with that setup
Also makes you have to be even more prepared before you kill a boss and open up potentially very deadly raids

I have just installed BepInEx on my Dedicated Server (Ubuntu on seperate VM). No mods so far. Is there any way i can validate from a Valheim client? I've read that F5 would open the BepInEx console in-game, but nothing happens for me

Edit: Nevermind, i guess most of the mods are fully client sided. I thought it would be the same like Terraria, where you put the mods on the server, and the client pulls them from the server when connecting.

The game was too easy for me by default, I had to make it more interesting 😛
Terraria uses tModLoader, that is much like what we have for valheim using R2modman.
It doesn't actually share the mods directly from the server but the clients connecting to that server download those through the tModloader that gets them from an online repo.
For valheim when using R2modman you give clients connecting to the server a code that it does the same thing, downloads the mods for them.
The difference is that it's not as streamlined as terraria and involves clients installing r2modman and adding the modlist code for the server they intend to play on. Where terraria does it through an additional steam app.

Hello, I have a gportal set up with crossplay already enabled. Plus there are xbox players and different time zones already invested. So disabling crossplay would probably ruin the current climate and culture of the players in the server. And so I am looking for help on how to efficiently add something like betternetworking to a gportal server if anyone might be able to help guide me through setting up betternetworking on a server hosted through the g-portal service?

I assume something happened where their client or server wasnt loading mods. Throughout the history of valheim OdinsFoodBarrels has always been kept up to date and working. They have chose just not to use mods for now.
BetterNetworking is a Client Mod so it doesn't go on a server, all clients simply need to install Bepinex to use it.
Yea that's a mod that things can actually happen if the mod doesn't load. I just use it as deco when I have too much of something. One reason I don't use mods that increase storage of a chest for example.
With the equipment slots mod I found out if it doesn't load you're ok, just load it and your stuff is still there

Anyone know why the settings on some of the mods I'm using don't save? I'm hosting through Dathost and most mods save the settings when I make adjustments, but a few don't, so I have to do it on bootup every time

outside of editing the boot.config of the game, the best "performance increase" I got was from using crystallights instead of the 100 torches I had around my base.
